    Filozofia w szkotach jezuickich w Polsce w XVI wieku.Georg Schuppener - 1970 - Forum Philosophicum: International Journal for Philosophy 4 (1):293-295.

Kepler's relation to the Jesuits—A study of his correspondence with Paul Guldin.Georg Schuppener - 1997 - NTM Zeitschrift für Geschichte der Wissenschaften, Technik und Medizin 5 (1):236-244.
First, this article provides a survey of the kind of relationship that existed between Kepler and the Jesuits. Afterwards, it is pondered upon the likelihood of their having been in direct contact with each other while Kepler lived in Prague. The second part of the article is devoted to an investigation into the correspondence between Kepler and Paul Guldin as an example. Thus, the paper describes the key issues of those letters and concludes from this Guldin's attitude to Kepler and (...)

Mathematicians and Mathematics at Prague University during the Second Half of the 18th Century.Georg Schuppener - forthcoming - Teorie Vědy / Theory of Science.
The paper describes the situation of teaching mathematics and its position at Prague University in the second half of the 18th century. In order to be able to adequately present the specific changes during this period, I first explain the development of the role of mathematics as a modern science among the Prague Jesuits in the two centuries before. It is pointed out that the Jesuits initially assigned only a very minor importance to mathematics. From the middle of the 17th (...)

Georg Schuppener. Jesuitische Mathematik in Prag im 16, und 17, Jahrhundert (1556-1654) [Jezuicka matematyka w Pradze w XVI i XVII wieku]. [REVIEW]Robert Janusz - 1970 - Forum Philosophicum: International Journal for Philosophy 6 (1):275-278.
„Mrówcza" praca Georga Schuppenera dyskredytuje nazbyt uproszczone (...)

The persistent interpretation problem for quantum mechanics may indicate an unwillingness to consider unpalatable assumptions that could open the way toward progress. With this in mind, I focus on the work of David Bohm, whose earlier work has been more influential than that of his later. As I’ll discuss, I believe two assumptions play a strong role in explaining the disparity: 1) that theories in physics must be grounded in mathematical structure and 2) that consciousness must supervene on material processes.

So animal a human..., or the moral relevance of being an omnivore.Kathryn Paxton George - 1990 - Journal of Agricultural Ethics 3 (2):172-186.
It is argued that the question of whether or not one is required to be or become a strict vegetarian depends, not upon a rule or ideal that endorses vegetarianism on moral grounds, but rather upon whether one's own physical, biological nature is adapted to maintaining health and well-being on a vegetarian diet. Even if we accept the view that animals have rights, we still have no duty to make ourselves substantially worse off for the sake of other rights-holders. Moreover, (...)

Stolen Legacy: Greek Philosophy is Stolen Egyptian Philosophy.George G. M. James - 1954 - Newport News, Va.: United Brothers Communications Systems.
Stolen Legacy by George G.M. James refutes the Euro-centric myth that the origin of Western philosophy is Greek. First published in 1954, this book was seminal in leading to a radical reappraisal of a philosophical system long thought to be of European origin. It is an essential work in the syllabus for the study of Western philosophy.

    Ayn Rand and the Metaphysics of Kant.George V. Walsh - 2000 - Journal of Ayn Rand Studies 2 (1):69 - 103.
George V. Walsh examines the differences and similarities between Immanuel Kant and Ayn Rand in the area of metaphysics. He presents Kant's premises and conclusions on the major issues and provides a detailed discussion of Rand's criticisms of Kant. Walsh argues that Rand has seriously misread Kant on several points. Her interpretation—that Kant saw our sensory grasp of the world as "delusion," rather than knowledge—resembles that of Arthur Schopenhauer, except that the latter declares Kant's doctrine worthy of praise instead of (...)

: This paper considers whether a physician is criminally liable for administering a dose of painkillers that hastens a patient's death. The common wisdom is that a version of the doctrine of double effect legally protects the physician. That is, a physician is supposedly acting lawfully so long as the physician's primary purpose is to relieve suffering. This paper suggests that the criminal liability issue is more complex than that. Physician culpability can be based on recklessness, and recklessness hinges on (...)
