Reply to Van Lange et al.: Proximate and ultimate distinctions must be made to the CLASH model.Tomás Cabeza de Baca, Steve C. Hertler & Curtis S. Dunkel - 2017 - Behavioral and Brain Sciences 40.
Transcending reviewed proximate theories, Van Lange et al.'s CLASH model attempts to ultimately explain the poleward declension of aggression and violence. Seasonal cold is causal, but, we contend, principally as an ecologically relevant evolutionary pressure. We further argue that futurity and restraint are life history variables, and that Life History Theory evolutionarily explains the biogeography of aggression and violence as strategic adaptation.

Caregiver decision-making concerning involuntary treatment in dementia care at home.Vincent R. A. Moermans, Angela M. H. J. Mengelers, Michel H. C. Bleijlevens, Hilde Verbeek, Bernadette Dierckx de Casterle, Koen Milisen, Elizabeth Capezuti & Jan P. H. Hamers - 2022 - Nursing Ethics 29 (2):330-343.
Background: Dementia care at home often involves decisions in which the caregiver must weigh safety concerns with respect for autonomy. These dilemmas can lead to situations where caregivers provide care against the will of persons living with dementia, referred to as involuntary treatment. To prevent this, insight is needed into how family caregivers of persons living with dementia deal with care situations that can lead to involuntary treatment. Objective: To identify and describe family caregivers’ experiences regarding care decisions for situations (...)

Communiquer l'architecture par le média exposition (with an abstract in English).Marie Élizabeth Laberge - 2012 - Mediatropes 3 (2):82-108.

This study aims are to compare the characteristics of the Greek Polis of Metaponto and Poseidonia water collecting and distribution systems. And also, display the differences and similarities between the water management systems used, as to better understand the criteria developed to orientate the place of settlements and also of certain urban characteristics chosen by the Greeks, between the VIII and IV centuries B.C.

    Singing Women's Words as Sacramental Mimesis.C. B. Tkacz - 2003 - Recherches de Theologie Et Philosophie Medievales 70 (2):275-328.
Singing and praying in the words of biblical men and women is basic to sacramental mimesis, i.e., Christian imitation of the actions of the saints with the intention of thereby opening themselves to grace. This evidence counters the “voiceless victim” paradigm prevalent in much feminist scholarship. In pre-Christian Jewish liturgy, the song of Miriam after the Crossing of the Red Sea was already important in the annual celebration of the Passover. Jesus emphasized the spiritual equality of the sexes in his (...)

Considering the role of ecology on individual differentiation.Tomás Cabeza de Baca, Rafael Antonio Garcia, Michael Anthony Woodley & Aurelio José Figueredo - 2016 - Behavioral and Brain Sciences 39:e145.
Our commentary articulates some of the commonalities between Baumeister et al.'s theory of socially differentiated roles and Strategic Differentiation-Integration Effort. We expand upon the target article's position by arguing that differentiating social roles is contextual and driven by varying ecological pressures, producing character displacement not only among individuals within complex societies, but also across social systems and multiple levels of organization.

    Consumer reactions to unethical service recovery.Elizabeth C. Alexander - 2002 - Journal of Business Ethics 36 (3):223 - 237.
Ethical business practices have been widely prescribed, but why? Consumers views on unethical business practices have been studied, but possibly more important to marketers and researchers are consumer actions and reactions to unethical business practices and the businesses themselves. Do consumers react negatively, or in such a way as to "punish" the unethical business? If so, what is the nature and extent of the punishment? This research seeks answers to these questions by examining consumer reactions, such as complaining and switching, (...)

Theories such as effective altruism contend that people are morally obligated to give to charitable organizations that will efficiently do the most net good. The assumption is that aiding people who are most in need will create the most good; yet, it may be more inefficient to reach those most in need. In response, I outline my Inefficiency Principle in which efficiency has less moral weight when aiding those lacking in basic capabilities, and efficiency has more moral weight when aiding (...)

Should theories of distribution focus solely on subjective welfare or solely on objective resources? While both of these ‘currencies’ have well-known objections that make each of them implausible alone, I argue that neither currency should be jettisoned entirely. Instead, I construct a multi-currency distributive theory involving both welfare and resources. While I think that such a heterogeneous theory is able to mitigate objections to both pure resourcism and pure welfarism, it also creates a new concern, which I call the precedence (...)

    Distributing Welfare and Resources.Elizabeth C. Hupfer - 2019 - Journal of Philosophical Research 44:273-292.

Instead, I construct a multi-currency distributive theory involving both welfare and resources. According to the coercive approach to distributive justice, the coercive nature of the political state requires justification in the form of distributive benefits owed only to members of the state. In this paper I analyze and dismiss traditional objections to the coercive approach, and I proceed to raise two novel objections. First, according to my equivocation objection, I contend that the coercive approach’s leap from coercive burdens to certain distributive benefits is based on an equivocation. When this equivocation is clarified, (...)
