Résumé Quand l’urbanisme naît au tournant du 19 e /20 e siècle, il ne considère pas la ville sans la nature. Certains, comme Ebenezer Howard, pensent que la cité-jardin va devenir le nouveau visage du paysage urbain n’associant que les aspects positifs et de la grande ville et de la campagne… D’autres, hygiénistes et rationalistes, prônent un urbanisme fonctionnel dans lequel « l’espace vert » est constitutif du plan d’ensemble. Ainsi, la nature n’est-elle pas oubliée. Mais de quelle « nature»s’agit-il? (...) Une « nature » extérieure au citadin, comme un ornement ou une une décoration? Une valorisation du cadre bâti et non pas comme la condition même de notre existence d’humain? Ainsi, derrière la prise en compte de la « nature » par les urbanistes trouvons nous des intentions bien différentes, d’une époque à une autre et d’une culture à une autre. La « nature » globalisée, standardisée qui participe dorénavant au marketing urbain, n’est qu’une image, elle n’est plus localisée, cultivée ou encore sauvage, partenaire de notre condition de terrien. L’écrivain Edmond Jabès , d’abord de nationalité italienne en Egypte puis de nationalité française en France et de langue française, était d’origine juive. Ecrivain libre et solitaire, loin des partis et des groupes littéraires, la prise de conscience de sa judéïté marqua cette dimension littéraire, sans être réductible à cette judéïté. Héritière d’une tradition liée aux diverses interrogations sur Dieu, le désert, le silence et les textes millénaires, porteuse par sa modernité, de la question d’un « Judaïsme après Dieu », (...) l’œuvre de Jabès est également questionnement sur ce qui conduira le peuple juif de l’Exil à la Shoah et de la Shoah à la création de l’Etat d’Israël. J.-M. Sauvage tente dans cet article de comprendre et d’interpréter l’approche qu’a fait Jabès de cette question difficile et fondamentale : qu’est-ce qu’être juif lorsqu’on est juif athée en diaspora ?The writer Edmond Jabès , at first of Italian nationality in Egypt, then of French nationality in France and French-speaking, was of Jewish origin. Valorising the biocultural heritage of common goods could enable peasant farmers to achieve socially and economically inclusive sustainability. Increasingly appreciated by consumers, peasant heritage products offer small farmers promising opportunities for economic, social and territorial development. Identifying the obstacles and levers of this complex, multi-scale and multi-stakeholder objective requires an integrative framework. We applied the panarchy conceptual framework to two cases of participatory research with small quinoa producers: a local fair in Chile and quinoa export production in Bolivia. In both (...) cases, the “commoning” process was crucial both to bring stakeholders together inside their communities and to gain outside recognition for their production and thus achieve social and economic inclusion. Despite the differences in scale, the local fair and the export market shared a similar marketing strategy based on short value chains promoting quality products with high identity value. In these dynamics of biocultural heritage valorisation, the panarchical approach revealed the central place as well as the vulnerability of the community territory. As a place of both anchoring and opening, the community territory is the privileged space where autonomous and consensual control over the governance of common biocultural resources can be exercised. Cet article propose une réflexion soulevée par le suivi psychanalytique de sujets expatriés dont les problématiques psychiques sont liées, entre autres facteurs, à la présence d’un secret tenu par leurs parents. J’émets ici l’hypothèse que l’expatriation, en tant que déplacement volontaire, peut permettre à certains sujets d’inscrire différemment, dans leur histoire, un événement traumatique tenu secret par leurs parents. Cette réflexion s’inscrit dans le prolongement d’une conception psychanalytique de l’expatriation (Drweski, 2015). Elle s’appuie sur les notions de clivage (Bayle, 2012), (...) du double transitionnel (Jung, 2015) et du secret (Tisseron, 2001). L’auteure présente le cas de Doris, expatriée française suivie dans le cadre d’un travail de recherche mené à l’étranger. Il apparaît que la distance physique instaurée par son expatriation lui permet de se dégager psychiquement du vécu lié au clivage parental et enclenche une évolution de la situation discursive au sein de la famille. Soon after arriving in Asia, Jesuit missionaries published apologetic and catechetical works for the immediate needs of conversion. Later on, they also introduced writings on spirituality to nourish the spiritual life of the Catholic communities. In Japan and China, the classic text Imitatio Christi by Thomas à Kempis and the Spiritual Exercises of Ignatius of Loyola appeared in different versions. When the Franciscans arrived in China in the 1630s, they relied on the Jesuits' Chinese writings. At the end of the (...) seventeenth century, they even reprinted some Jesuit works in Canton. In this paper, we observe an undergoing transformation in the qualification of the processes of emergence that we call ‘innovation’. First conceived in the industrial mode defined by Schumpeter within the consumer economy context, innovation has now acquired a more general meaning and has been transformed in the understanding of collective action. Against the backdrop of transformations in the industrial reality, the crisis of desire in consumer societies, and the impoverishment of the imaginary, ‘social innovation’ appears to be a new (...) form of imaginary institution of society in the definition that Cornelius Castoriadis gave to this expression. The semantic enrichment of the notion of innovation allows us to glimpse a new framework for the ethics of innovation, which needs to be interpreted from the perspective of the age of transitions. It is a consensus that familiarity and recollection contribute to episodic recognition memory. However, it remains controversial whether familiarity and recollection are qualitatively distinct processes supported by different brain regions, or whether they reflect different strengths of the same process and share the same support. In this review, I discuss how adapting standard human recognition memory paradigms to rats, performing circumscribed brain lesions and using receiver operating characteristic methods contributed to solve this controversy. First, I describe the validation of the (...) animal ROC paradigms and report evidence that familiarity and recollection are distinct processes in intact rats. Second, I report results from rats with hippocampal dysfunction which confirm this finding and lead to the conclusion that the hippocampus supports recollection but not familiarity. Finally, I describe a recent study focusing on the medial entorhinal cortex that investigates the contribution of areas upstream of the hippocampus to recollection and familiarity. (shrink)

The present paper examines how discursive representations and emotive constructions underpin an argumentative dynamic that emerges from apparently non-argumentative statements, like those found in newspaper headlines. Our data comes from Greek broadsheet newspapers in the polarized context of the Greek crisis. First, we outline an analytic synergy that scrutinizes representational meaning and the semiotization of emotions in headlines. We then move towards the reconstruction of the inferential passage, contained in the headlines, that unites the implicit standpoint with its supporting argument.

The review adresses the relationship between sport expertise (i.e., sport competition level), postural performance (amount of motion of the centre of mass/of pressure of foot or ability to preserve body balance) and postural strategy (geometric organization of different body segments as well as neurobiological involvement of organism). Since the conditions of postural evaluation are likely to influence results, the aim is to compare athletes at different competition levels in ecological postural conditions (specific postural conditions related to the sport practiced) and (...) non-ecological postural conditions (decontextualized postural conditions in relation to the sport practiced). Evidence suggests that the most successful athletes in terms of sport competition level have the best postural performance both in ecological and non-ecological postural conditions. However, in non-ecological conditions the postural tasks should be preferentially challenging or relatively close to the sport practice stance. Moreover, the most successful athletes also have more elaborate postural strategies compared with athletes at lower competition level. Mechanistic explanations as well as conceptual models are proposed to explain the role of different factors influencing the relationship between sport expertise and postural performance and strategy. Presenting a series of historical portraits of Bantu, Thierry Secretan recounts his investigation into the compounds that housed the black labor of the gold mines of the Rand, around Johannesburg. The use of a « pass » to control the black miners prefigured the apartheid system. From 1904 to 1939,Alfred Martin Duggan-Cronin, an Irish guard at one of the compounds, began to photograph the different kind of people doing the hard labor in the mines. The results were some 7200 (...) exposures and working prints, on 13 /18 cm negatives. Hundreds of enlargements were exhibited from 1925 onward in a gallery in his own home in Kimberley. These photographs were rediscovered in 1998 by Thierry Secretan, who is still attempting to save them front slow destruction: they constitute an extraordinary catalogue of the Bantu cultures. In order to implement cost-benefit analysis of protective actions to reduce radiological exposures, one needs to attribute a monetary value to the avoided exposure. Recently, the International Commission on Radiological Protection has stressed the need to take into consideration not only the collective exposure to ionising radiation but also its dispersion in the population. In this paper, by using some well known and some recent results in the economics of uncertainty, we discuss how to integrate these recommendations in the valuation (...) of the benefit of protection. À la suite d’une panne de voiture, un certain Traps est hébergé chez quatre amis. Invité à participer à un jeu, un procès où il aura le rôle de l’accusé, il accepte. Il est convaincu de meurtre, accepte sa culpabilité et se suicide. Après un bref condensé de l’histoire, l’article traite des thèmes suivants : le caractère de (...) Traps et sa transformation au cours du jeu ; le rôle ambigu des quatre amis ; le genre tragi-comique grec de l’œuvre ; les aspects comiques ; les aspects tragiques : l’atmosphère d’anxiété et de mort ; les symétries et inversions ; l’art littéraire. Résumé Quelques groupes religieux et mouvements de pensée du monde turc, en Asie et en Europe, cultivent, depuis plusieurs siècles, une vision originale de la nature dans laquelle les vieilles croyances animistes et chamanistes, et même bouddhistes des nomades sont combinées à la philosophie arabe d’ obédience néoplatonicienne et à la mystique musulmane (soufisme). Cette vision, qui n’est pas du reste homogène puisqu’elle connaît plusieurs variantes, établit que toutes les créatures animées et inanimées – humain, animaux, plantes et pierres – (...) sont les réceptacles d’une même « énergie vitale » et qu’elles sont en conséquence intimement liées les unes aux autres, et même susceptibles de migrer vers chacun de leurs modes d’être respectifs, animal, végétal ou minéral ; de là l’existence d’hommes-pierres, d’hommes-arbres et d’hommes-animaux. Cet article se propose de faire la généalogie de cette vision de la nature et d’en étudier l’influence actuelle, en portant une attention particulière à l’« éthique de l’environnement » ( çevre ahlakï ) qu’elle a inspirée, ces dernières années, en Turquie. Second Scholasticism greatly developed the medieval theory of continuous quantity as the Aristotelian notion for thematizing spatial extension, paving the way for the idea of space as extension in early modern natural philosophy. The article analyzes the section related to the category of continuous quantity in the Coimbra commentary on the Dialectics (1606), showing that it is indebted to the novel theory of Francisco Suárez on quantity as bestowing extension to a body in a particular sense, something which had been (...) overlooked by previous research. The scholarly debate on quantity was brought to China, and here the Chinese translation is examined of the section on quantity in the fourth volume of the Mingli Tan, published in China in 1636-­1639. Semantical arguments, based on the completeness theorem for first-order logic, give elegant proofs of purely syntactical results. For instance, for proving a conservativity theorem between two theories, one shows instead that any model of one theory can be extended to a model of the other theory. This method of proof, because of its use of the completeness theorem, is a priori not valid constructively. We show here how to give similar arguments, valid constructively, by using Boolean models. These models are (...) a slight variation of ordinary first-order models, where truth values are now regular ideals of a given Boolean algebra.
