Al maestro inglese sono attribuite due opere di logica: la Logica sive tractatus de veritate propositionum e le Consequaentiae, entrambe scritte molto probabilmente intorno al 1360. In queste opere Ferrybridge elabora due teorie dell'inferenza, diverse tra loro e caratterizzate in modo originale rispetto alla tradizione coeva. Nel presente saggio l'A. si propone di ricostruire ed analizzare le due teorie, individuandone analogie e differenze e tentando di determinare la loro posizione nell'ambito della tradizione logica medievale, con riferimento alle tesi di Buridano, (...) Pietro di Mantova, Paolo Veneto, Walter Burley. Dopo un'analisi contenutistica dei due testi, l'A. giunge a stabilire tre importanti differenze tra essi: la prima è costituita dal fatto che nella Logica viene formulato esplicitamente un criterio generale per determinare la necessità di un enunciato condizionale, mentre nelle Consequaentiae non vi è traccia di tale tentativo; la seconda riguarda il fatto che mentre nelle Consequaentiae viene rifiutata la validità delle consequaentiae con antecedente impossibile o conseguente necessario, nella Logica tale validità viene pienamente accettata; la terza differenza infine è data dalla diversa classificazione delle consequaentiae formulata nelle due opere. In appendice viene pubblicata l'ultima parte della Logica e cioè un trattato dedicato alla determinazione delle condizioni secondo cui un enunciato condizionale è necessario. (shrink)

The aim of the present paper is to list the usual and some possible meanings--or at least those the writer found the most interesting--of the word 'level,' to specify them briefly, to illustrate them, and to propose some problems in which those concepts are involved. Should this semantical clarification prove useful in clearing the ground for ontological speculation, the thesis would be confirmed that there is no conflict between semantics and ontology as long as the former does not deny the (...) legitimacy of inquiries into the denotata of certain universal words, and as long as metaphysics is not reluctant to linguistic hygiene. Os estudos acerca da estética musical de Eduard Hanslick geralmente enfatizam sua tese negativa, causadora de inúmeras controvérsias e discussões. A investigações de sua tese positiva é geralmente deixada de lado pelos musicólogos. Neste artigo são discutidos não apenas os fundamentos da tese negativa, mas também os da tese positiva, bem como as noções de forma, conteúdo e Conteúdo espiritual. Ao mesmo tempo, examinamos em que medida os pontos de vista de Hanslick são tributários das concepções de alguns autores franceses (...) do século XVIII, bem como de autores roânticos como Wackenroder, Tieck e Hoffmann. O presente artigo aborda a questão da tolerância religiosa no Iluminismo alemão, por meio da análise e interpretação de trechos selecionados da peça Nathan der Weise (1779), de Lessing. Pretende-se mostrar que essa obra tem sua origem intimamente ligada ao debate teológico (“Fragmentenstreit”) entre Lessing e o pastor Johann Melchior Goeze, de Hamburgo, podendo ser lida como uma reação e uma resposta às críticas e objeções deste último.

In recent years, Karl Rahner's theology of concupiscence as a «pre-ethical appetite» has been subjected to some negative criticism as «un-Thomistic» and as presupposing modern philosophy's dualistic understanding of being. The present essay tries to situate Rahner's interpretation within the theological context of the time when it was originally published; the major debate then was on the nature of the supernatural and the desiderium naturale videndi Deum. It then tries to reconstruct the usage Rahner himself made of Aquinas's theology and (...) Heidegger's philosophy, as presented in the latter's Sein und Zeit . In 1941, Rahner's major contribution consisted in reformulating Aquinas's theology on concupiscence in Heideggerian terminology. The Incarnation and the gift of integrity constituted two benchmarks that Rahner used to test his own understanding of concupiscence. Finally, Rahner's contribution is placed within the context of the Catholic-Lutheran Joint Declaration on the Doctrine of Justification and the definition of concupiscence as presented in the accompanying Official Common Statement.
