In International Relations (IR) scholarship, the epistemic communities’ framework has gained relevance for explaining the roles of experts in the context of transnational global governance. However, IR scholars have criticized the framework for descriptive reasoning. This paper aims to strengthen its explanatory power by following rules of a systematic literature review and by using Desmond’s conception of professionalism to further develop Cross’s model of epistemic community. Desmond introduced his concept of professionalism as a response to bureaucratic and market trends in (...) scientific research and Cross developed her concept of professionalism as a comprehensive reconceptualization of Haas’s original model of an epistemic community. The results confirm compatibility between the two concepts. Following the structure of Cross’s model of professionalism, individual autonomy operationalizes selection and training, collective autonomy covers the face-to-face meetings, and the service provision operationalizes the common culture. This reflection examines the context of philosophical-ethical research and its preceding and continuing particular geopolitical framework in the central zone of Central Europe in the case of the national and state revival of the Czech nation. It focuses on the work and endeavour of František Palacký and its interpretive development by Thomas Garrigue Masaryk, which resulted in the foundation of the Czechoslovak Republic. Nový příspěvek ke kritice idealistické interpretace moderní fyziky, zneužívané idealistickou filosofií a náboženskou propagandou. Stručně rekapituluje filosofii klasické fyziky a materialisticky vykládá výsledky teorie relativity a kvantové mechaniky.

Als repräsentatives Beispiel seiner philosophischen Position, die zugleich die Grundlage seines wissenschaftlichen Systems bildet, stellt Fichte den Streit zwischen zwei möglichen philosophischen Systeme dar: dem Idealismus und dem Dogmatismus. In Auseinandersetzung mit dem Dogmatismus findet er die Begründung für die idealistische Position durch die Analyse von Begriffen und Phänomenen wie Erfahrung, Bewusstsein, Erkenntnis und schließlich Freiheit. Die Freiheit, verstanden als eine bewusste Entscheidung, nötigt den Philosophen zur Wahl einer (...) konkreten Form von Philosophie, weil sie davon abhängt, was für ein Mensch man ist. (shrink)

Po pádu totalitárních systémů, jež spočívaly na marxistické ideologii, se sociální věda začala k dialektice chovat rezervovaně, případně ji zcela vyloučila z legitimního instrumentária vědy. Studie se na pozadí vývoje a proměn dialektiky v různých sociologických koncepcích snaží odpovědět tři otázky: a) nakolik je „dialektická sociologie“ možná, b) zda nejde o redundantní termín, c) ukázat elementární principy, jimiž se „dialektické zkoumání“ sociální reality může či má řídit. V závěru ukazuje rozdílnost principů tzv. lazarsfeldovského a radikálně kritického paradigmatu v empirickém výzkumu.

Studie je věnována roz- manitým sociologizujícím, a později přímo i sociologickým způsobům, kterými v minulosti byla a dodnes je věda uchopována. Do sociologie se věda jako výzkumný předmět dostává spolu s osvícenskou ideou pokroku, na kterou v první polovině 19. století navazuje Auguste Comte. Teprve sociologie 20. století se však zbavila „historicismu", kterým byla sociologie nejen Comtova, ale samozřejmě i Marxova určována. Od 30. let minulého století se pak věda stává zvláštním sociologickým tématem, které bude s postupujícím časem nabývat na (...) síle. V samostatné části se pak prof. Petrusek věnuje fenoménem zpochybňování vědy, který spojuje s proměnami samotných našich společností. Svoji studii uzavírá zamyšlením se nad sociologickou metateorií. (shrink)

The phenomenon of sport, especially its popularity and significance, strongly marks the contemporary world. This text is an attempt to describe sports experience (especially football) as a value for a fan experiencing it. It is not an analysis of sport in the philosophical perspective usually concentrating on its ethical or anthropological aspects. That is why the author analyses here, among other things, its identity, aesthetic and egalitarian character, touching upon such important phenomena as patriotic feelings in the context of sport, (...) its media dimension or the problems with stadium hooligans. Finally, to emphasize the research problem outlined in this way, the author discusses the thesis of striking similarities between sports experience and religious experience formulated repeatedly in the present debate over contemporary forms of global secularization. Das Buch ist historisch-systematisch angelegt. In ihm stellt der Verfasser in interdisziplinarer - philosophischer, psychologischer und theologischer - Perspektive verstehend, sympathisierend, aber auch kritisch die Funktion des Christentums bei C. G. Jung dar. Fur ihn ist der Mensch von Natur aus religios und erlebt Gott in seiner Seele. Demzufolge liegt das Wesen des Christentums im Erleben, in dem der Glaubige von unbewussten Machten uberwaltigt wird. Religiose Erfahrung ist daher ein Erleben der Archetypen des kollektiven Unbewussten, was bedeutet, dass Gott und (...) das Unbewusste im religiosen Erlebnis nicht zu unterscheiden sind. Jung betrachtet Religionen als wahr, insofern sie die Krankheiten der Seele heilen. Sie therapieren deshalb, weil in ihnen die heilenden Krafte des Unbewussten besonders fruchtbar wirken. (shrink)

GOD AS A FRUITFUL ILLUSION? ERNST BLOCH’S ATHEISM IN CHRISTIANITY Either almighty God or a free man: this is an alternative of atheistic critique of religion. In this context, the aim of the article is to present Ernst Bloch’s (1885–1977) original proposal, concluded in his Atheism in Christianity. Standing for atheistic humanism he finds an inspiration in the Bible, in the classical example of Job’s (undeserved) suffering. Bloch’s original and appealing concept of Marxist revolution is based on hope and the (...) idea of liberation, which are very characteristic of him. This article focuses on such issues of philosophy of religion as the biblical concept of God, the proposal of Job’s radical dilemma of righteous man’s suffering or the significance of eschatology for understanding immutability of God in His essence, who acts in mutable history. This document describes the implementation of a conical tank control system using an adaptive neurofuzzy system. For implementation, an indirect approach is used where the controller is optimized using the model obtained during the plant identification carried out using data obtained during the system operation. Furthermore, implementation includes training of neuro fuzzy-systems and application to control a conical tank. Regarding plant identification, preliminary training takes place using data obtained for different input values. The controller configuration is established considering the analogy (...) with a discrete-time linear system. The simulation shows that the control system manages to approach the desired response given by the considered reference model. (shrink)

A questionnaire is an integral component of methods determining the temperaments of dogs. From the range of questionnaires used for evaluation of a dog’s temperament, we selected C-BARQ. This particular type of questionnaire allowed us to determine the degree of agreement of evaluations of the same dog by individual members of one household. The evaluation included dogs in 29 households with a total of 71 members. The degree of agreement between ratings of individual members of the same household was determined (...) by Intraclass correlations coefficient . The correlations observed ranged between 0.53 and 0.9, depending on the category. This result is further supported by the results of other studies that showed similar perceptions of the same dog between family members. (shrink)

The article reviews the book Religiöse Erfahrung zwischen Emotion und Kognition: William James’ Karl Girgensohns, Rudolf Otto und Carl Gustav Jungs Psychologie des religiösen Erlebens [Religious Experience between Emotion and Cognition: William James, Karl Girgensohns, Rudolf Otto and Carl Gustav Jung on the Psychology of Religious Experience], by Henryk Machoń.

Active in Alexandria during the second half of the third century, Dioscorides is the author of some forty epigrams preserved in theAnthologia Palatina. Five of these epigrams are concerned with Greek playwrights: three dramatists of the archaic and classical periods, Thespis, Aeschylus and Sophocles, and two contemporary ones, Sositheus and Machon. Dioscorides conceived four epigrams as two pairs (Thespis and Aeschylus, Sophocles and Sositheus) clearly marked by verbal connections, and celebrates each playwright for his original contribution to the history of (...) Greek drama. Thespis boasts to have discovered tragedy; Aeschylus to have elevated it. The twin epigrams devoted to Sophocles and Sositheus present Sophocles as refining the satyrs and Sositheus as making them, once again, primitive. Finally, Machon is singled out for his comedies as ‘worthy remnants of ancient art (τέχνης … ἀρχαίης)’. Dioscorides’ miniature history of Greek drama, which is interesting both for its debts to the ancient tradition surrounding classical playwrights and for the light it sheds on contemporary drama, clearly smacks of archaizing sympathies. They drive Dioscorides’ selection of authors and his treatment of contemporary dramatists: both Sositheus and Machon are praised for consciously looking back to the masters of the past. My focus is on Sositheus and his ‘new’ satyr-play. After discussing the relationship that Dioscorides establishes between Sophocles’ and Sositheus’ satyrs, and reviewing scholarly interpretations of Sositheus’ innovations, I will argue that Dioscorides speaks the language of New Music. His epigram celebrates Sositheus as rejecting New Music and its trends, and as composing satyr plays that were musically old fashioned and therefore reactionary. (shrink)
