El artículo analiza los aportes de la teoría sociológica de Norbert Elías y Pierre Bourdieu al campo de las ciencias sociales. Siguiendo a Corcuff, podemos ubicar las obras de estos dos autores dentro de las teorías constructivistas. Teorías que producen un desplazamiento mismo del objeto de la sociología: ni la sociedad ni los individuos, concebidos como entidades separadas, sino las relaciones entre individuos. Con ello, se abordan el rechazo a la teoría pura; el abordaje multidisciplinar y la vigilancia epistemológica en (...) la construcción del objeto de estudio; la superación de la oposición subjetivismo-objetivismo; la explicación social, histórica y relacional de los fenómenos sociales; la concepción agonista de lo social; y, por último, el eje temático que atraviesa las obras de dos autores con diferencias pero complementarios. Macrobio dedicó especialmente uno de sus textos, Saturnalia a la discusión de la obra y la persona de Virgilio –considerado tanto autoridad poética como filosófica y religiosa— aplicando como estrategia la comparación con la otra gran auctoritas de la Antigüedad: Homero. Si bien el punto de partida es la valoración de las habilidades literarias, la competencia se dirime finalmente apelando al plano de la moral y del respeto por la tradición, ambos contemplados en la práctica de la imitatio, fundamental en (...) la Antigüedad Tardía y en particular en la obra macrobiana. El propósito de este trabajo es doble: por un lado, intentaremos exponer el vínculo entre sublimación y ciencia en Freud y la relación entre la desmundanización y el discurso teórico en Heidegger con el fin de establecer sus similitudes y diferencias. Y, por el otro, el trabajo propone una lectura crítica de la concepción heideggeriana de la ciencia a partir de la noción freudiana de sublimación. La idea es mostrar que Heidegger no lograría ver un significado positivo de los discursos (...) objetivantes en la constitución de la propiedad del Dasein, es decir, en la modalidad auténtica de la subjetividad. Asimismo, se afirma que la interpretación enunciativa de la segunda tópica de Freud posibilita una crítica a su epistemología naturalista.The purpose of this paper is double: at one side we tried to expose the link between sublimation and science in Freud and the relationship between unworlding and the theoretical discourse of Heidegger with the aim of establishing similarities and differences. And on the other side, the paperintends a critical reading of Heidegger’s conception of science by means of Freud’s conception of sublimatization. The idea is to show that Heidegger fails to see a positive meaning in the objectivizing discourses in the constitution of the property of Dasein, that is, in the authentic mode of subjectivity. In additionthe article maintains that the enunciative interpretation of Freud’s second topic makes possible an criticism of his naturalistic epistemology. (shrink)

La concepción semántica en filosofía de la ciencia propuso las relaciones de isomorfismo (van Fraassen) y semejanza (Giere) para analizar las representaciones científicas. Recientemente, Ibarra y Mormann han sugerido una geometrización de la concepción representacional en filosofía de la ciencia. Este artículo afirma que es precisa una relación mas general (la de homeomorfismo) para reconstruir las representaciones científicas externas que son utilizadas en la practica científica contemporánea, y especialmente en la visualización científica digitalizada.The semantical view on philosophy of science has (...) proposed the relationships of isomorfism (van Fraassen) and similitude (Giere) in order to analyse scientific representations. Recently, Ibarra & Mormann have suggested a geometrization of the representational view on philosophy of science. This contribution claims that a more general relationship (homeomorfism) is needed to reconstruct external representations used in contemporary scientific practice and, specially, in scientific digitalized visualization. Siguiendo a Martha Nussbaum, Graciela Vidiella argumenta que las humanidades están llamadas a cumplir un rol importante en la promoción de la ciudadanía virtuosa que es tan crucial para la salud de nuestras democracias. Este trabajo pretende aportar al proyecto de promover una ciudadanía virtuosa reuniendo tres reflexiones sobre el tipo de educación humanística del que cabe (y el tipo del que no cabe) esperar un aporte significativo en ese sentido. Argumentaré, en primer lugar, que una educación humanística que esté (...) a la altura de tal propósito, no puede ser concebida ni practicada como un bien Veblen. Sostendré, en segundo lugar, que una formación humanística que busque promover las virtudes cívicas necesita apoyarse en una concepción integrada del conocimiento que lo entienda como parte de la sabiduría y reconozca la centralidad del conocimiento vivo frente al conocimiento inerte. Por último, señalaré la importancia de diseñar las tareas formativas y los instrumentos de evaluación con vistas a entrenar a los estudiantes en las habilidades requeridas para el pensamiento crítico y propondré una herramienta idónea a tal efecto. De estas tres maneras, intento aportar algunas precisiones sobre el tipo de educación humanística del que cabe (y el tipo del que no cabe) esperar contribuciones significativas de cara a fomentar el desarrollo de una ciudadanía virtuosa. Este artigo apresenta uma abordagem da cidade contemporânea do ponto de vista da contribuição das novas tecnologias digitais na constituição de laços sociais e na caracterização dos espaços urbanos. A análise de exemplos de interações cotidianas entre o meio digital e a cidade ilustra as considerações teóricas sobre novas formas de experiências do espaço social, mais precisamente a da ubiqüidade, na construção de novas experiências espaciais coletivas.

Empirical research on Rational Choice Theory has brought up two focus of the economics laws problem. On one hand, we find the authors who state that the neoclassical economics laws are explanatory and predictive on specific cases: in transparent contexts in which the standard rationality operates successfully. On the other hand, we find the authors who state that the descriptive theories of the rational choice opens up a research path in which fundamental principles of the neoclassical building could be questioned. (...) Both view points have generated an important standard Rational Choice Theory revision what has produced the so called descriptive view point . It implies understanding that most of the choices take place under risky or uncertainty conditions and, that, these choices are far more complex than the normative Rational Choice Theory supposes. This article's main goal is to expand the descriptive point of view in rational choice, theorizing how some factors, coming from the social and cultural environment, operate within the rational choice. Into space of this research essay we find the debatable question of whether these sort of proposals expands the explanation of the deviation of the rational choice normative theory, and that, of the disturbing causes of the microeconomics laws, or they call into question fundamental principles of these laws and therefore they are opening the possibility to focus some economics issues in a new different manner. Sustainability reporting has become a well-entrenched practice in the mining sector. Failure to adequately live up to societal expectations is now considered a significant threat to the viability of the industry. There is general agreement that broad endorsement of standards for nonfinancial disclosure supports mining companies to improve their image, while conflicts persist. Because sustainability reports “speak” on behalf of sustainably operating organizations and may create socio-political effects, we explore the symbolic nature of SR. We conceive of SR as a (...) performative practice to research how it interferes with the world that it seeks to represent. Our case study research suggests that conformity with global templates is not an end in itself but might create below-compliance effects if a common interest in mining is developed in local arenas that avoids clarification of impacts and maintains ambiguity over responsibility. ABSTRACT We have several objectives in this article. Firstly, we return to the category of semiosphere due to its dialectical and polysemic character, but we also introduce some reflections in order to analyze more complex cultural productions. In this same sense, the category of internal and external semiotic border allows us to present the cultural, intercultural, and transcultural translation problems that are articulated with the dynamic changes of every culture. Secondly, we examine the category of culture and articulate it with (...) the no-culture, with the anti-culture, which would lead to propose three types of semiosphere: cultural semiosphere, noncultural semiosphere, and anti-cultural semiosphere, which introduce controversial aspects that must be considered. Thirdly, we study Iuri Lotman’s latest approaches on the unpredictable in cultural processes, assuming assumptions of complexity and transdisciplinarity that are present in all his work. (shrink)

The closure of schools as a result of COVID-19 has been a critical global incident from which to rethink how education works in all our countries. Among the many changes generated by this crisis, all teaching became mediated by digital technologies. This paper intends to analyze the activities carried out during this time through digital technologies and the conceptions of teaching and learning that they reflect. We designed a Likert-type online questionnaire to measure the frequency of teaching activities. It was (...) answered by 1,403 teachers from Spain. The proposed activities varied depending on the learning promoted, the learning outcomes, the type of assessment to which the activities were directed, and the presence of cooperative activities. The major result of this study was that teachers used reproductive activities more frequently than constructive ones. We also found that most activities were those favoring verbal and attitudinal learning. The cooperative activities were the least frequent. Finally, through a cluster analysis, we identified four teaching profiles depending on the frequency and type of digital technologies use: Passive, Active, Reproductive, and Interpretative. The variable that produced the most consistent differences was previous digital technologies use These results show that Information and Communication Technologies uses are reproductive rather than constructive, which impedes effective digital technologies integration into the curriculum so that students gain 21st-century competencies. Herman Bavinck (1854–1921), the Dutch master of dogmatic theology, wrote a systematic treatise in theological ethics. Bavinck is a theistic moral realist whose ethics is deontological and virtue centered. His realism—both ontological and epistemic—is reflected in his understanding of conscience and its relation to the objective moral law. Furthermore, this review article discusses issues in Christian anthropology, particularly the selfhood of the human person, the relation between nature and grace, creation and redemption, and philosophy and theology, and the distinction between (...) objective and subjective religion. It concludes with a brief reflection on Bavinck’s hermeneutics of renewal and reform in the continuity of the catholicity of the Reformed tradition. (shrink)

Este artículo analiza las aportaciones que Eloy Rada hizo a los estudios leibnicianos a través de sus ediciones de textos de Leibniz y al analizar la confrontación entre Leibniz y los newtonianos: polémica sobre el origen del Cálculo y el Análisis Matemático a finales del siglo XVII y contraposición entre las teorías del espacio y el tiempo de Newton y Leibniz. Rada mostró que el sistema newtoniano tenía una fundamentación teológico-religiosa, que fue puesta en cuestión por el sistema leibniciano de (...) la armonía preestablecida, haciendo irreconciliables las posturas de ambos. Las divergencias, incluida la discusión sobre la fuerza de la gravedad, son consecuencia de esa contraposición metafísica y teológica, que afectaba a las raíces de la religión anglicana, tal y como se había conformado a partir del latitudinarismo de los filósofos de Cambridge, de Boyle y del propio Newton y su sistema de la gravitación universal. In this paper, I examine the four elements—universal sinfulness, natural sinfulness, inherited sinfulness, and Adamic sinfulness—of the doctrine of original sin in both the Reformed confessions, with particular attention to the Canons of Dort, and the Council of Trent’s definitive teaching on Original Sin. I give particular attention to the question regarding how all men are implicated in the sin of Adam. Realism and federalism will be analyzed as answers to this question. Even if a theological account is given that (...) justifies the claim that God may justly impute Adam’s sin to his posterity, that still leaves unanswered the question of unconditional negative reprobation, also called, preterition (praeteritio), namely, that God passes over some and not others. Does preterition jeopardize the Church’s call to evangelization? That question will need to be reconsidered briefly, and in conclusion, in light of the doctrine of divine election and its implications for the preaching and hence proclamation of the gospel. The diversity of designs and techniques used to build environments around the human perceptual system in order to immerse people in complex synthetic experiences has created a variety of approaches. Some of the experiences may immerse the person in structures that cannot be physically accessed otherwise because of scale or time. Others may bring together different phenomena that do not normally happen simultaneously. In this article I attempt to categorize the kinds of experiences that are being built around our bodies (...) and minds utilizing devices that extend our senses and cognitive structures, thus mediating the way we experience and think to better understand the world around us. The synthetic experience can be understood as the natural experience extended through technological means. These means are usually designed to immerse a person or people into a representation of reality, being that reality is one of being immersed in a task, a state of mind or an imagined space, or a combination of them. To represent reality, technology is built around the human perceptual system that connects with the focus of its attention towards the outside world. In handling reality, the (...) human perceptual system also extends inwards, to patterns of reasoning where the structure of the body, that is, the perceptual system itself, models the organization of ideas and interaction. Therefore, a synthetic experience has unique potential to allow for interaction with structures of the mind. (shrink)

El presente artículo se inscribe dentro de la tradición interdisciplinaria e intenta hacer un aporte en el campo de las relaciones entre psicoanálisis y fenomenología hermenéutica. Puntualmente, la contribución se centra en señalar la transformación que Winnicott realiza de la metapsicología freudiana. Para lograr este propósito, se asume como criterio de análisis de la obra de Winnicott las reflexiones fenomenológico-hermenéuticas de la lectura que P. Ricoeur hace de la metapsicología freudiana en _Freud: una interpretación de la cultura_.

Partiendo del supuesto de que lo acontecido al interior de los Centros Clandestinos de Detención (CCD) configuró una experiencia límite cuyos efectos se sostienen aún en el presente, el objetivo de este artículo consiste en aproximarnos a los modos de emergencia y/o persistencia de la violencia vivida en el espacio subjetivo. A partir del análisis de entrevistas en profundidad a sobrevivientes de los CCD en la Argentina, abordaré las formas de irrupción/disrupción narrativas que se producen en la evocación presente de (...) la experiencia de la (propia) desaparición. Si estas formas de persistencia remiten, por un lado, a temporalidades propias del acecho y la ruptura, se solapan también en y con nuevas temporalidades que lejos de subsumir al sujeto en el presente continuo, acuciante y paralizante de la violencia vivida, tornan posible la vida en términos de la proyección a futuro y la afirmación del sujeto en el presente. This paper reports on the results of a survey of faculty members at California State University, Northridge in Los Angeles, California regarding their understanding of and familiarity with the concept of fake news. With very few studies published on the attitudes of teaching faculty at universities, this study is a unique approach to the issues facing educators, knowledge creators, and information specialists. The paper examines the origins of the term “fake news”, the factors contributing to its current prevalence, and proposes (...) a new definition. It also reports upon the attitudes that teaching faculty hold, and how they define fake news within their specific disciplines. Though nearly all surveyed faculty felt fake news was an important topic that impacted them professionally, the researchers also find that faculty across all disciplines and ranks, ages, and gender, hold widely differing conceptions of fake news. This lack of consensus may have future implications for students in particular and higher education in general and are worth exploring further. (shrink)

En el presente trabajo se desarrollarán algunos avances del grupo de investigación Feminización de la Extensión Crítica, el cual forma parte del Grupo de Trabajo Extensión crítica: teorías y prácticas en América Latina y el Caribe del Consejo Latinoamericano de Ciencias Sociales (CLACSO). Este grupo tiene como objetivo hacer visibles algunos invisibles que sostienen y reproducen la división social, técnica y sexual de la práctica extensionista, utilizando dos estrategias: 1- constituir la extensión universitaria en objeto de análisis y; 2- revisar (...) su corpus teórico desde las categorías propuestas por los feminismos academicistas y populares. Se presentarán algunos resultados preliminares obtenidos a partir de la lectura sintomal (leer un texto o un corpus teórico no solo por lo que dice sino también por lo que omite o silencia), lo que permite la elucidación crítica de los sesgos sexistas en el interior de las propias prácticas y construcciones teóricas para posibilitar reconceptualizaciones y aportes. Se incorpora además una nueva estrategia de abordaje: el análisis de la implicación subjetiva, para permitir el despliegue de lo opaco, para poder así actualizar la extensión crítica latinoamericana y caribeña y continuar recorriendo, con pasos renovados, los caminos de la extensión critica que ya fueran marcados por otrxs. En este breve trabajo hago dos cosas. En primer lugar, señalo que el costo de satisfacer el derecho a verse libre de pobreza no debería convertirse en una cuestión decisiva, si es que vamos a tomarnos en serio la existencia de tal derecho. Y, en segundo lugar, apoyo (desde la perspectiva utilitarista de Peter Singer) la posición que sostiene que erradicar la pobreza mundial no implica un costo significativo y que, por lo tanto, la persistencia de este problema es absolutamente (...) irracional y gratuita. El objetivo de este ensayo es hacer una defensa de la exigibilidad de los derechos económicos y sociales. Esta noción se refiere a “la posibilidad de reclamar ante un juez o tribunal de justicia el cumplimiento, al menos, de algunas de las obligaciones que se derivan [de estos derechos]”. Para realizar este objetivo, procederé de la siguiente manera. En la sección II, haré una reconstrucción de uno de los argumentos más tradicionales que se han ofrecido en contra de la exigibilidad (...) de los derechos económicos y sociales. En la sección III, haré una reconstrucción de la interpretación institucional de los derechos humanos, presentada por el filósofo Thomas Pogge, en su libro La pobreza en el mundo y los derechos humanos. La relevancia de esta interpretación consiste en que pretende trascender la crítica libertariana que sostiene que los derechos económicos y sociales no son derechos humanos. En la sección IV, me ocuparé de los derechos económicos y sociales incluidos en la Constitución nacional y en varios instrumentos internacionales. En la sección V, haré algunas reflexiones sobre la exigibilidad de estos derechos. Finalmente, en la sección VI, extraeré algunas conclusiones de las secciones previas. (shrink)

Real-time computer graphics and complex sensory input challenge past assumptions of highly constrained metaphors based on static imagery. Access to research and gaming interfaces have popularized the understanding of tracking technologies that tailor interaction to ambulatory displacement and dexterous handling of objects, expanding the realm of metaphors from visual to physical phenomena. But behaviour and the mind have been studied far before there were real-time computer graphics or digitally created synthetic environments. Dynamic relationships between environment, body and thought are being (...) dissected today by neuro-scientific research, and, conversely, synthetic environments are being utilized to address psychological disorders. This article examines research on scientific and philosophical fields that advance the definition of representation, from an image-based realm as limited by previous popular media to an understanding of action and immersion, where attention is activated by change, and rooted in the body. From this perspective, the advent of embodied representation may not be as much of a change of medium, but the perceptual relation with the medium, the medium being a created Umwelt, where the virtual world builds the mind through the body. Die Notwendigkeit, die Theorie des Aristoteles in Einklang mit der Evidenz der Erde über dem Meeresspiegel – der ‘terra firma’ – zu bringen, hat eine entscheidende konzeptuelle Veränderung verursacht, in deren Folge auf paradoxe Weise anti-aristotelische Argumente in die aristotelische Tradition integriert wurden. Der deutsche Jesuitenpater Christophorus Clavius spielte eine relevante Rolle bei diesem Prozess. Er führte die Idee des aus Erde und Wasser bestehenden Globus in die scholastische Kosmologie ein, indem er das logische System der Physik des Aristoteles abwandelte. (...) Dieser Artikel analysiert die Theorie des Clavius sowie die angewandte Vorgehensweise, die er benutzte, um sein Vorhaben zu realisieren. Clavius verwendet kombinatorische Ansätze, um die Beziehungen der vier Elemente – Erde, Wasser, Luft und Feuer – zueinander zu untersuchen. Er sieht ihre Verbindung aus einer physischen Perspektive und schlägt schließlich eine mögliche Struktur der sublunaren Welt vor.The need to reconcile Aristotle's theory of elementary spheres with the evidence of earth above sea level – the so-called ‘terra firma’ – induced an important conceptual shift. As a consequence anti-Aristotelian arguments were brought to the fore in order to be incorporated into the very same Aristotelian tradition. The German Jesuit Christophorus Clavius played a momentous role in this process. He introduced the idea of the terraqueous globe into the Scholastic cosmology, modifying the logical frame of Aristotelian physics. The present work analyses Clavius' theory as well as the procedures he considers to reach his purpose. He used a combinatorial approach to study the relations occurring between the four elements – earth, water, air and fire – and analysed their relations from a physical perspective, proposing a possible structure of the sublunary world.
