    AnS matrix theory for classical nonlinear physics.J. Glimm & D. H. Sharp - 1986 - Foundations of Physics 16 (2):125-141.
The basic concepts appropriate for anS matrix theory for classical nonlinear physics are formulated here. These concepts are illustrated by a discussion of shock wave diffraction patterns. Other information concerning solutions of non-linear conservation laws is surveyed, so that a coherent picture of this theory can be seen. Within thisS matrix framework, a number of open problems as well as a few solved ones will be discussed.

    Of Cartesianism and Spiritual Exercises.Matteo J. Stettler & Matthew Sharpe - 2022 - Philosophy Today 66 (3):471-489.
This article challenges the recurrent critique that Pierre Hadot’s identification of ancient philosophy with the practice of spiritual exercises introduces a non- or irrational dimension into metaphilosophy. The occasion to do this is provided by Kerem Eksen’s recent reading of Descartes’s Meditations as consisting of solely intellectual, rather than spiritual, exercises—since the latter, Eksen claims, involve extrarational means and ends. Part 2 presents an alternative account of the role of cognition in the ancient meditatio at issue in understanding Descartes’s antecedents. (...)

    Theological method and Gordon Kaufman: KEVIN J. SHARPE.Kevin J. Sharpe - 1979 - Religious Studies 15 (2):173-190.
Gordon Kaufman is a theologian who wrestles with essential theological issues. In a recent amplification of his position, An Essay on Theological Method , 1 he makes an honest attempt to describe the method by which a self-critical theologian might work. This paper sets out a critique of the method Kaufman proposes and from that delineates a path which theologians might choose to follow.

    Nathan Söderblom and the Study of Religion: ERIC J. SHARPE.Eric J. Sharpe - 1969 - Religious Studies 4 (2):259-274.
To the student of the recent history of theological ideas in the West, it sometimes seems as though, of all the ‘new’ subjects that have been intro duced into theological discussion during the last hundred or so years, only two have proved to be of permanent significance. One is, of course, biblical criticism, and the other, the subject which in my University is still called ‘comparative religion’—the dispassionate study of the religions of the world as phenomena in their own right.

    Stanley L. Jaki's Critique of Physics: KEVIN J. SHARPE.Kevin J. Sharpe - 1982 - Religious Studies 18 (1):55-75.
Disorder and suffering are increasing significantly in our society. Violent crime, unemployment, escape through drug-taking are all on the increase. It is apparent, also, that much of this disorder and suffering, and the anxiety it fosters, is rooted in science and its technological off-spring. The un-employment produced by a micro-technology is only one small example. It is also apparent that one of the principal foundation stones for the scientific enterprise was Christianity.

    Biology intersects religion and morality.Kevin J. Sharpe - 1992 - Biology and Philosophy 7 (1):77-88.
Michael Ruse's writings explore what sociobiology says about morality. Further, he claims that sociobiology undermines the base for Christian morality. After responding to criticisms of Ruse, especially those of Arthur Peacocke, I lay a base for meeting his challenge.

    Relating the physics and religion of David Bohm.Kevin J. Sharpe - 1990 - Zygon 25 (1):105-122.
David Bohm's thinking has become widely publicized since the 1982 performance of a form of the Einstein‐Podolsky‐ Rosen (EPR) experiment. Bohm's holomovement theory, in particular, tries to explain the nonlocality that the experiment supports. Moreover, his theories are close to his metaphysical and religious thinking. Fritjof Capra's writings try something similar: supporting a theory (the bootstrap theory) because it is close to his religious beliefs. Both Bohm and Capra appear to use their religious ideas in their physics. Religion, their source (...)

    Holomovement metaphysics and theology.Kevin J. Sharpe - 1993 - Zygon 28 (1):47-60.
The holomovement metaphysics of David Bohm emphasizes connections and continuous change. Two general movements through space‐time extend Bohm's ideas. One is that the universe was nonlocal when it started but increases in locality. (With nonlocality, two simultaneous but distant events affect each other.) The other is the opposite movement or evolution toward increasingly complex systems exhibiting internal connections and a type of nonlocality. This metaphysics produces a theology when the holomovement is a model for God. Several topics follow, including global (...)

This essay seeks to engage the narrative art of the book of Joshua in ways that may prove valuable for contemporary communities of faith. The argument draws on the feminist and postcolonial critical tradition for defining insights about the construction of the subject, the interrogation of power dynamics, and the reformation of community. The essay then explores Joshua’s representations of authority and its use of liminal moments in Israel’s narrative of conquest in order to suggest possible avenues of appropriation by (...)

Integrating ethics content into the core business curriculum: Do core teaching materials do the job? [REVIEW]Mark C. Baetz & David J. Sharp - 2004 - Journal of Business Ethics 51 (1):53-62.
Some business schools have integrated business ethics issues into their core functional courses rather than simply offering a separate ethics course. To accommodate such a strategy, functional faculty members usually teach ethical issues, a task for which they are rarely trained. However, learning materials are available: some core course textbooks provide additional coverage of ethics, and case studies (and accompanying teaching notes for instructors) are also available which cover ethical issues. This paper reports on an analysis of these materials. We find (...)

An examination of differences in ethical decision-making between canadian business students and accounting professionals.Jeffrey R. Cohen, Laurie W. Pant & David J. Sharp - 2001 - Journal of Business Ethics 30 (4):319 - 336.
This study investigates the differences in individuals'' ethical decision making between Canadian university business students and accounting professionals. We examine the differences in three measures known to be important in the ethical decision-making process: ethical awareness, ethical orientation, and intention to perform questionable acts. We tested for differences in these three measures in eight different questionable actions among three groups: students starting business studies, those in their final year of university, and professional accountants. The measures of awareness capture the extent to (...)

    Post-Brexit Immigration Policy: Reconciling Public Perceptions with Economic Evidence.Kristoffer Ahlstrom-Vij, H. Rolfe, N. Hudson-Sharp & J. Runge - 2018 - National Institute of Social and Economic Research.
Existing research shows consistently high levels of concern among people in the UK over the scale of immigration and its impact on jobs, wages and services. At the same time, that same body of research does not provide much in the way of detail about the nature of these concerns. This is partly because much of the data is from opinion polls which say little about the priorities and perspectives that underlie the aggregate numbers. Moreover, very little research has been (...)
