An Innovative Aerial Manipulator with Tandem Ducted Fans: Modeling, Control, and Simulation.Yibo Zhang, Wei Fan, Changle Xiang, Bin Xu, Tianfu Ai, Lei Yuan & Yang Liu - 2020 - Complexity 2020:1-24.
This paper proposes an innovative ducted fan aerial manipulator, which is particularly suitable for the tasks in confined environment, where traditional multirotors and helicopters would be inaccessible. The dynamic model of the aerial manipulator is established by comprehensive mechanism and parametric frequency-domain identification. On this basis, a composite controller of the aerial platform is proposed. A basic static robust controller is designed via H-infinity synthesis to achieve basic performance, and an adaptive auxiliary loop is designed to estimate and compensate for (...)

  3. Saliva Ontology: An Ontology-Based Framework for a Salivaomics Knowledge Base.Jiye Ai, Barry Smith & David Wong - 2010 - BMC Bioinformatics 11 (1):302.
The Salivaomics Knowledge Base (SKB) is designed to serve as a computational infrastructure that can permit global exploration and utilization of data and information relevant to salivaomics. SKB is created by aligning (1) the saliva biomarker discovery and validation resources at UCLA with (2) the ontology resources developed by the OBO (Open Biomedical Ontologies) Foundry, including a new Saliva Ontology (SALO). We define the Saliva Ontology (SALO; http://www.skb.ucla.edu/SALO/) as a consensus-based controlled vocabulary of terms and relations dedicated to the salivaomics (...)

Obligation or Desire: Variation in Motivation for Compliance With COVID-19 Public Health Guidance.Ting Ai, Glenn Adams & Xian Zhao - 2021 - Frontiers in Psychology 12.
Why do people comply with coronavirus disease 2019 public health guidance? This study considers cultural-psychological foundations of variation in beliefs about motivations for such compliance. Specifically, we focused on beliefs about two sources of prosocial motivation: desire to protect others and obligation to society. Across two studies, we observed that the relative emphasis on the desire to protect others as an explanation for compliance was greater in the United States settings associated with cultural ecologies of abstracted independence than in Chinese (...)

There is a need recognized by the National Institute of Dental & Craniofacial Research and the National Cancer Institute to advance basic, translational and clinical saliva research. The goal of the Salivaomics Knowledge Base (SKB) is to create a data management system and web resource constructed to support human salivaomics research. To maximize the utility of the SKB for retrieval, integration and analysis of data, we have developed the Saliva Ontology and SDxMart. This article reviews the informatics advances in saliva (...)

We describe the rationale for an application ontology covering the domain of human body fluids that is designed to facilitate representation, reuse, sharing and integration of diagnostic, physiological, and biochemical data, We briefly review the Blood Ontology (BLO), Saliva Ontology (SALO) and Kidney and Urinary Pathway Ontology (KUPO) initiatives. We discuss the methods employed in each, and address the project of using them as starting point for a unified body fluids ontology resource. We conclude with a description of how the (...)

This study investigates the mechanism of how sensory experiences influence visitors’ digital engagement with a destination through establishing a strong bond and identification between a destination and tourist utilizing a two-step process. First, visitors’ sensory experiences in a destination are identified through a content analysis of online review comments posted by visitors. Afterward, the effects of those sensory experiences on visitors’ digital engagement through destination dependence and identification with that destination are examined. Findings suggest that sensory experiences are critical antecedents (...)

In this method, the corresponding computer communication network cost model and computer communication network reliability model are established through a specific project, and the genetic intelligence algorithm is used to solve the cost model and computer communication network reliability model, respectively. It has (...)

Foundation of Interval-Valued Intuitionistic Fuzzy Limit and Differential Theory and an Application to Continuous Data.Zhenghai Ai, Xiaoqin Shu & Zeshui Xu - 2019 - Complexity 2019:1-14.
The intuitionistic fuzzy calculus, based on the basic operational laws of intuitionistic fuzzy numbers, has been put forward. However, the interval-valued IFC, based on the basic operational laws of interval-valued IFNs, is only in the original stage. To further develop the theory of the IVIFC and make it be rigorous, the primary task is to systematically investigate the characteristics of the limits and differentials, which is a foundation of the IVIFC. Moreover, there is quite a lot of literature on IVIFNs; (...)

Faith has been shown to serve a protective role in the mental health of African Americans and European Americans. However, little research has examined whether any association exists in Asian Americans. Using the National Latino and Asian American Study dataset, we examined the effect of religious attendance on the mental health of Asian Americans in the United States. The present study focused on Chinese Americans because they are the largest Asian American group. The results revealed that almost 80% of the (...)

    Can Quarks Always Be Confined by a Linear Potential?H. B. Ai & J. P. Hsu - 1985 - Foundations of Physics 15 (2):155-159.
It is demonstrated on the basis of the Dirac equation that quarks cannot be confined by a vector gluon potential of the form(r/r 0)a or[ln(r/r 0]a, a>0, if the quark-gluon interaction conserves parity. In order to confine quarks with the parity-conserving interaction, the effective gluon potential must be a pseudovector or a scalar. These are shown in a simple Yang-Mills field with theSU(2) group.

Adaptive Neural Control with Prespecified Tracking Accuracy for a Class of Switched Systems Subject to Input Delay.Xu Zhang, Jian Wu, Wu Ai & Jing Li - 2019 - Complexity 2019:1-12.
This paper is concerned with the adaptive tracking control design for a class of uncertain switched systems subject to input delay. Unlike the existing results on uncertain switched systems, the new proposed control scheme ensures that the tracking error converges to the accuracy given a priori according to the requirement. To achieve this aim, some nonnegative switching functions are introduced to replace the conventional Lyapunov function. In addition, neural networks are used to approximate the unknown simultaneous domination functions. By combining (...)

The Communication Patterns of Chinese Students with Their Lecturers in an Australian University.Bin Ai - 2017 - Educational Studies 43 (4):484-496.
Chinese students are now the largest group of international students in the Australian higher education sector. The patterns of Chinese communication and education affect the ways that Chinese students engage with their lecturers and manage their learning relationships. A case study of these patterns provides a small window through which to observe the progress of higher education internationalisation in Australia. In this study, the experiences of seven Chinese students in a multicultural educational context are explored, with a focus on their (...)

In natural language, the phenomenon of polysemy is widespread, which makes it very difficult for machines to process natural language. Word sense disambiguation is a key issue in the field of natural language processing. This paper introduces the more common statistical learning methods used in the field of word sense disambiguation. Using the naive Bayesian machine learning method and the feature vector set extracted and constructed by the Dice coefficient method, a semantic word disambiguation model based on semantics is realized. A Defect Detection Method for the Surface of Metal Materials Based on an Adaptive Ultrasound Pulse Excitation Device and Infrared Thermal Imaging Technology.Yibo Ai, Yingjie Zhang, Xingzhao Cao & Weidong Zhang - 2021 - Complexity 2021:1-9.
Ultrasonic excitation has been widely used in the detection of microcracks on metal surfaces, but there are problems such as poor excitation effect of ultrasonic pulse, long time to reach the best excitation, and difficult to find microcracks. In this paper, an adaptive ultrasonic pulse excitation device and infrared thermal imaging technology have been combined, as well as their control method, to solve the problem. The adaptive ultrasonic pulse excitation device adds intelligent modules to realize automatic adjustment of detection parameters, (...)
