Letters on the Kantian philosophy.Karl Leonhard Reinhold - 2005 - New York: Cambridge University Press. Edited by Karl Ameriks & James Hebbeler.
Reinhold's Letters on the Kantian Philosophy is arguably the most influential book ever written concerning Kant. It provides a helpful introduction to Kant's philosophy and a valuable explanation of how that philosophy can be understood as an appropriate Enlightenment solution to the 'pantheism dispute' which dominated thought in the era of German Idealism. The first edition of Kant's Critique of Pure Reason was slow in gaining a positive reception, but after Reinhold's Letters appeared Kant's Critical Philosophy suddenly attained (...)

Moral man and immoral society: a study in ethics and politics.Reinhold Niebuhr - 1932 - Louisville, KY: Westminster John Knox Press.
Arguably his most famous book, Moral Man and Immoral Society is Reinhold Niebuhr's important early study (1932) in ethics and politics. Widely read and continually relevant, this book marked Niebuhr's decisive break from progressive religion and politics toward a more deeply tragic view of human nature and history. Forthright and realistic, Moral Man and Immoral Society argues that individual morality is intrinsically incompatible with collective life, thus making social and political conflict inevitable. Niebuhr further discusses our inability to imagine (...)

Martin Bucer Briefwechsel/Correspondance: Band IX (September 1532 - Juni 1533).Reinhold Friedrich, Berndt Hamm & Wolfgang Simon (eds.) - 2013 - BRILL.

In lieu of an abstract, here is a brief excerpt of the content:Scriptural AuthorityA Christian (Protestant) PerspectiveReinhold BernhardtThe Sola Scriptura Principle in the Reformation MovementIn curbing the authority of the ecclesiastical Magisterium the Reformation movement brought the authority of the Holy Scripture to the forefront as the normative foundation of Christian theology. One of its basic axioms is the sola scriptura principle, meaning that all one needs to know in order to live in a salvific relation to God can be (...)

The Children of Light and the Children of Darkness: A Vindication of Democracy and a Critique of its Traditional Defense.Reinhold Niebuhr & Gary Dorrien - 2011 - University of Chicago Press.
_The Children of Light and the Children of Darkness_, first published in 1944, is considered one of the most profound and relevant works by the influential theologian Reinhold Niebuhr, and certainly the fullest statement of his political philosophy. Written and first read during the prolonged, tragic world war between totalitarian and democratic forces, Niebuhr’s book took up the timely question of how democracy as a political system could best be defended. Most proponents of democracy, Niebuhr claimed, were “children of (...)

How tight is the link between lexical processing and saccade programs?Reinhold Kliegl & Ralf Engbert - 2003 - Behavioral and Brain Sciences 26 (4):491-492.
We question the assumption of serial attention shifts and the assumption that saccade programs are initiated or canceled only after stage one of word identification. Evidence: (1) Fixation durations prior to skipped words are not consistently higher compared to those prior to nonskipped words. (2) Attentional modulation of microsaccade rate might occur after early visual processing. Saccades are probably triggered by attentional selection.

Automorphism groups of differentially closed fields.Reinhold Konnerth - 2002 - Annals of Pure and Applied Logic 118 (1-2):1-60.
We examine the connections between several automorphism groups associated with a saturated differentially closed field U of characteristic zero. These groups are: Γ, the automorphism group of U; the automorphism group of Γ; , the automorphism group of the differential combinatorial geometry of U and , the group of field automorphisms of U that respect differential closure. Our main results are:• If U is of cardinality λ+=2λ for some infinite regular cardinal λ, then the set of subgroups of Γ consisting of (...)

“[Niebuhr] is one of my favorite philosophers. I take away [from his works] the compelling idea that there’s serious evil in the world, and hardship and pain. And we should be humble and modest in our belief we can eliminate those things. But we shouldn’t use that as an excuse for cynicism and inaction. I take away... the sense we have to make these efforts knowing they are hard.”—President Barack Obama Forged during the tumultuous but triumphant postwar years when America (...)
