The non-trivial concept of truth in Richard Kirkham’s Theories of truth: a critical introduction.Artyom E. Ukhov, Eleonora G. Simonyan & Eduard L. Kovrov - 2022 - South African Journal of Philosophy 41 (1):116-118.
Kirkham’s book is not a plain attempt of asking the questions like ‘What is truth?’ since it would, according to him, be one more mistake followed by confusion. The components of this four-dimensional confusion (vagueness, ambiguity, several ways of describing the same project, and one answer for two distinctly different questions about truth) find its original explanation in Kirkham’s book. Having stated that all of the previous theories of truth were just irrelevant to the question of “What is truth” because (...)

  2. PHILOSOPHICAL ASPECT OF THE PROBLEM OF ULTIMATE BASE OF COGNITION.Artyom Ukhov - 2009 - Tambov University Review. Series: Humanities 8 (76):151-155.
The article reveals the problem of the ultimate base of cognition as one of the most important since formation of gnoseology and actual in the modern philosophy. The conclusion is drawn that, despite the logic uncertainty, the analysis of a problem of the ultimate bases of knowledge represents methodologically valuable criterion of true. Thus use of the given criterion probably only at synthesis of logic and anthropological aspects that assumes unity of sensual, rational and intuitive ways of knowledge. It allows (...)

The article tells us about well-known physical problem of whether ether substance to be available. Albert Einstein sum up this question by his theory of relativity, arguing there are no ether substance at all. But many physicians there has been facing difficulties that were evidence of the real presence of ether. This accords with the main idea of many oriental spiritual and physical practices such as yoga and chi-kung, as well as of modern theory of non-linear thermodynamics.

SYSTEM UNDERSTANDING OF TRUTH AND PROBLEM OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE.Artyom Ukhov - 2010 - RUDN Journal of Philosophy 2:93-96.
The purpose of the article is to research the unseparable connection between objective aspects of cognition linked with metodology and logic and subjective ones which are covered to the subject’s mind and world outlook. According to psychology such a connection directly influences on understanding of truth and can be considered in the problem of artificial intelligence.

  5. The fixed point non-classical theory of truth value gaps by S. Kripke.Artyom Ukhov - 2017 - Vestnik SPbSU. Philosophy and Conflict Studies 33 (2):224-233.
The article is about one of the vital problem for analytic philosophy which is how to define truth value for sentences which include their own truth predicate. The aim of the article is to determine Saul Kripke’s approach to widen epistemological truth to create a systemic model of truth. Despite a lot of work on the subject, the theme of truth is no less relevant to modern philosophy. With the help of S. Kripke’s article “Outline of the Theory of Truth” (...)

    Comment: Do Emotions Influence Action? – Of Course, They Are Hypo-Phenomena of Motivation.Guido H. E. Gendolla - 2017 - Emotion Review 9 (4):348-350.
The target articles in this special section shed new light on the old question whether and how emotions influence action. However, what is missing is a straightforward motivational analysis—considering what we have learned from the science of explaining the “why” and “how” of behavior. I posit that emotions can influence the motivation process and thus action by fulfilling at least three functions: First, being grounded in needs, experienced emotions can function as strong need-like motivational states. Second, anticipated emotions can function (...)

Animal Welfare Impact Assessments: A Good Way of Giving the Affected Animals a Voice When Trying to Tackle Wild Animal Controversies?Peter Sandøe & Christian Gamborg - 2017 - Journal of Agricultural and Environmental Ethics 30 (4):571-578.
Control of wild animals may give rise to controversy, as is seen in the case of badger control to manage TB in cattle in the UK. However, it is striking that concerns about the potential suffering of the affected animals themselves are often given little attention or completely ignored in policies aimed at dealing with wild animals. McCulloch and Reiss argue that this could be remedied by means of a “mandatory application of formal and systematic Animal Welfare Impact Assessment ”. (...)

The authors of this volume elucidate the remarkable role played by religion in the shaping and reshaping of narrative forms in antiquity and late antiquity in a variety of ways. This is particularly evident in ancient Jewish and Christian narrative, which is in the focus of most of the contributions, but also in some “pagan” novels such as that of Heliodorus, which is dealt with as well in the third part of the volume, both in an illuminating comparison with Christian (...)

    Can psychopathic offenders discern moral wrongs? A new look at the moral/conventional distinction.E. Aharoni, W. Sinnott-Armstrong & K. A. Kiehl - 2012 - Journal of Abnormal Psychology 121 (2):484-497..
A prominent view of psychopathic moral reasoning suggests that psychopathic individuals cannot properly distinguish between moral wrongs and other types of wrongs. The present study evaluated this view by examining the extent to which 109 incarcerated offenders with varying degrees of psychopathy could distinguish between moral and conventional transgressions relative to each other and to nonincarcerated healthy controls. Using a modified version of the classic Moral/Conventional Transgressions task that uses a forced-choice format to minimize strategic responding, the present study found (...)

    Can We Trust Our Memories? C. I. Lewis's Coherence Argument.T. Shogenji & E. J. Olsson - 2004 - Synthese 142 (1):21-41.
In this paper we examine C. I. Lewis's view on the roleof coherence – what he calls ''congruence'' – in thejustification of beliefs based on memory ortestimony. Lewis has two main theses on the subject. His negativethesis states that coherence of independent items ofevidence has no impact on the probability of a conclusionunless each item has some credibility of its own. Thepositive thesis says, roughly speaking, that coherenceof independently obtained items of evidence – such asconverging memories or testimonies – raises (...)

Towards the conclusion of his interesting remarks on the meaning of the Homeric phrase, τ δ' πτερος πλετο μθος, Professor J. A. K. Thomson writes, ‘When a classical author uses the word πτερος it means “wingless” or “featherless” and nothing else,’ and he accordingly rejects Headlam's interpretation of πτερος φτις at Aesch. Ag. 288 together with the same scholar's proposal to read at P. V. 707 πτερος for the unmetrical απνδιος It may be true that the phrase, πτρ τάχει, which (...)
