Abstraction and Ideation - The Semantics of chemical and biological fundamental concepts. The methods of abstraction and ideation are indispensable tools to introduce new concepts in a scientific terminology. The latter is paradigmatically introduced within the 'protophysical program' whereas abstraction is commonly applied in logics and mathematics. The application within the reconstruction of chemistry and biology causes several problems. Ideation appears to be inadequate whereas the application of abstraction necessitates a critical and minute examination of the corresponding equivalence relations. These (...) problems are solved by the introduction of the method of materially-synthetic (material-synthetische) abstraction which is exemplified by the introduction of the chemical concept of 'substance' (Stoff) and the biological concept of 'hereditary factor' (Erbanlage). It is argued that the theories of the modern cognitive psychology of perception and recognition show, under rigorous logical analysis, the same problems which arise in the philosophical theories of knowledge of Descartes and Locke and lead to relativistic and solipsistic consequences. Through examination of the approachs of D. Sanders, E. B. Goldstein and J. Fodor it is shown that the perceptible world in these theories dissolves in internal representations so that despite its realistic starting-point modern cognitive psychology runs into (...) epistemological idealism or solipsism. The opinion that imputation to juridical persons is impossible for reasons of their fictionality is commonly held. Analyzing the topic as it was discussed in the 17th and 18th century by Dadino Alteserra (1602-1682) and Nikolaus Hieronymus Gundling (1671-1729) the paper shows that, firstly, juridical persons are not generated by fiction but abstraction. Therefore, secondly, terms denoting moral persons of such kind are, unlike fictional ones, possible parts of true empirical judgements. As true empirical judgements are presupposed by judgements of (...) imputation imputation to juridical persons is, indeed, possible since juridical persons are possible subjects of true empirical judgements.
