Its opponents saw in it a violent coup d’ etat leading to the destruction of a state, the beginning of the division of the world in two hostile camps and last but not least one of the paradigmatic examples of an almost unprecedented authoritarianism. This book (...) examines the discursive and practical battleground of the Russian Revolution, describes how it keeps living through the events, struggles, theories, and effects it prompted, and analyzes revolutionary ideas and processes in a more general vein. By taking the Russian Revolution as the prime example of revolutionary processes, the articles of this volume attempt to acknowledge the legacy of the Russian Revolution, come to terms with its failures and sketch the future of revolutionary thinking and practice in its aftermath. With the current changes driven by the expansion of the World Wide Web, this book uses a different approach from other books on the market: it applies ontologies to electronically available information to improve the quality of knowledge management in large and distributed organizations. Ontologies are formal theories supporting knowledge sharing and reuse. They can be used to explicitly represent semantics of semi-structured information. These enable sophisticated automatic support for acquiring, maintaining and accessing information. The Semantic Web is a very important initiative affecting the future of the WWW that is currently generating huge interest. Esse paper pretende introduzir alguns argumentos no debate atual em Filosofia da Religião, especialmente na controvérsia contra o Naturalismo. Nossa abordagem irá focar no significado moral da ideia de Deus, bem como em outros conceitos morais relevantes, a saber, os conceitos de consciência moral, mundo moral e a ideia mesma de “bem”. Em suma, é nossa intenção demonstrar que a maioria de nossas ideias morais está relacionada a uma Pessoa: Deus. Essa conclusão, como pretendemos demonstrar, refuta o Naturalismo.

Der Nachweis, dass sowohl die Einladung Peter Singers wie auch Thilo Sarrazins zu Vorträgen an deutsche Universitäten durch das grundgesetzlich verankerte Recht auf Wissenschaftsfreiheit gedeckt ist, kann sehr leicht geführt werden. Viele Menschen sind aber dennoch der Auffassung, Peter Singer sollte aufgrund seiner angeblich ableistischen Thesen an Universitäten keine Vorträge halten; auch sind viele Menschen der Auffassung, Thilo Sarrazin sollte aufgrund seiner angeblich rassistischen Thesen an Universitäten keine Vorträge halten. Es wird gezeigt, dass es keinen substantiellen Unterschied zwischen dem Fall (...) Sarrazin und dem Fall Singer gibt, der es rechtfertigen würde, in dem einen Fall die Einladung zu Vorträgen an Universitäten zu verteidigen, in dem anderen Fall aber nicht. Wer denkt, Singer dürfe an eine Universität eingeladen werden, muss auch denken, Sarrazin dürfe an eine Universität eingeladen werden; und wer das Recht verteidigt, Singer an eine Universität einzuladen, muss auch das Recht verteidigen, Sarrazin an eine Universität einzuladen. I argue that many interpretations of Kant’s philosophy suffer from what I call “Textvergessenheit,” and that the remedy against it is what I call “kommentarische Interpretation.” By “Textvergessenheit” I mean that, despite all appearances, there are no really close, detailed, exegetical and reconstructive interpretations of Kant’s texts; and by “kommentarische Interpretation” I mean interpretations that are just this: close, detailed, exegetical and reconstructive. The main purpose of “doing history of philosophy” and thus the main purpose of interpreting philosophical texts is (...) to understand what they mean; it is not to find out whether what the text claims to be true really is true . The ultimate aim of reading a philosophical text is to understand, and this means: to reconstruct the theory and arguments put forward by its author. Once it is clear what an argument says, we can relate to it, critically or affirmatively, or whatever; but what exactly the argument really says, is never obvious. Of course, no one will argue that we should not read Kant’s text carefully. Yet, since it is a widely held belief that, contrary to what I claim, there are close readings of Kant’s text, I will provide examples that, as a matter of fact, this is not the case; Textvergessenheit is a fact of philosophical life. Was ist Wahrheit?- Vernunft und Offenbarung.- Die Bedeutung von Bekenntnissenin der Gegenwart.

Unbemerkt von der internationalen Philosophie gibt es seit fast dreißig Jahren eine deutsche Debatte über die Frage, ob die Hauptthese des Fallibilismus – keine Aussage ist sicher – widersprüchlich sei. Wir werden zeigen, daß diese Debatte auf beiden Seiten an begrifflichen Unklarheiten und fehlenden Unterscheidungen leidet. Die insbesondere von Karl-Otto Apel und Wolfgang Kuhlmann vorgetragenen Vorwürfe der Selbstimmunisierung und der Gehaltlosigkeit des Fallibilismus erweisen sich als unbegründet. Daraus folgt allerdings nicht, daß der von Hans Albert und Herbert Keuth verteidigte Fallibilismus (...) wirklich haltbar ist. (shrink)

"Der Philosoph und Kunsttheoretiker Dieter Jähnig hat einen bemerkenswerten Text, eine Art Summe seiner Forschung zum Verhältnis zwischen Philosophie und Kunst vorgelegt. Bemerkenswert ist dieser Text aus mehreren Gründen, zum einen, weil er - mit Schelling und Nietzsche - zeigt, dass Kunst nicht zum Objekt gemacht werden darf, sondern selbst eine Quelle des Weltverstehens und der Zeitkritik ist, zum anderen, weil er - mit Platon, Schelling und Nietzsche - in souveräner Weise den mimetischen Charakter der Kunst nicht als Nachahmung, (...) sondern als schöpferische Form des Lebens darstellt. Schließlich zeigt Jähnig im Blick auf Kants dritte Kritik, dass die Kunst der Philosophie Grenzen setzt. Das Stichwort hier ist "Freiheit nicht als Selbstbestimmung sondern als Gunst". All dies sind Schlaglichter einer gedanklichen Helligkeit, die kein anderer mir bekannter Text auf das Verhältnis der Kunst zur Philosophie wirft. In recent decades, Kant's philosophy of law has increasingly moved into the focus of moral-philosophical discussions. In this context, the "Naturrecht Feyerabend" is of particular importance. On the one hand, it is the only surviving transcription of the lectures on natural law that Kant gave twelve times between 1767 and 1788; on the other hand, it is based on his lectures in the summer semester of 1784 and thus provides important evidence of Kant's reflections during an important phase in the (...) development of his moral philosophy. Despite this special significance, the text has received little attention in previous research. Dieter Hüning, Stefan Klingner and Gianluca Sadun Bordoni present here a volume that emphasizes this special significance. The ten contributions in the volume ask about the relationship of "Naturrecht Feyerabend" to the tradition of natural law as well as its relationship to critical moral philosophy and the late "Doctrine of Right".
