A presença de sintomas depressivos em pacientes crônicos é comum e está associada com a redução da qualidade de vida. Esse estudo em questão, objetivou levantar a sintomatologia depressiva em pacientes fibromiálgicos crônicos e identificar sua relação com características de personalidade. Trata-se de um estudo transversal, descritivo e correlacional. A amostra consistiu de 20 indivíduos, homens e mulheres, com idades entre 32 a 62 anos, com diagnóstico de fibromialgia e em processo de tratamento clínico. Para a coleta de dados utilizou-se (...) o Inventário de Depressão Beck (BDI-II) e a Bateria Fatorial de Personalidade (BFP) e as análises foram descritivas e correlacionais. Identificou-se sintomas depressivos moderados a graves na maioria dos pesquisados e houve associação entre Neuroticismo, Extroversão, Realização e Abertura, indicando que pacientes com fibromialgia se mostram em sofrimento psicológico, com possível dificuldades na tomada de iniciativa, na abertura a novas experiências e na automotivação. Admitindo o pós-positivismo jurídico como a teoria que pretende reconciliar o Direito, moral e política em uma sociedade complexa e plural, foi identificado que a legalidade, isoladamente, não poderia mais sustentar a legitimidade das ações estatais, sendo necessário investigar qual o elemento estrutural concede validade aos atos estatais. Utilizando dométodo hipotético-dedutivo, partiu-se das seguintes hipóteses: a lei isoladamente não compreende o elemento estrutural da validade dos atos; e, a participação dos destinatários danorma em sua formação constitui o elemento estruturante das (...) decisões estatais. In this paper, we intend to offer an interpretation about the explanation of the (relative) idea of pure substance in general on John Locke’s philosophy, from Thomas Reid’s notion of ‘natural suggestion’. To achieve this aim, after contextualizing Locke’s notion of pure substance in general and distinguishing it from the idea of particular substance (section 1), we explicit that Locke’s words about the source of the idea of the former in the mind (either empirical or rational) are ambiguous and inconclusive (...) (section 2). Then, we argue that the parallels between this idea and that of ‘relation’, as well as of ‘power’ do not assist in that answer, due to some problems we identify on them (section 3). Finally, we argue that the Reidian explanation for the source of the idea of ‘mind’, from the notion of ‘natural suggestion’ allows us to i) avoid those problems and ii) inasmuch as, according to this interpretation, the idea of pure substance in general would have an empirical source, Lockian empiricism would remain intact (section 4). The main objective of this work is to understand the daily practices of user management in post-reformist devices in the Brazilian mental health field. Through Foucault's genealogical work on government practices, understood as forms of conducting the behavior of others, it is possible to open a possible field for the study of the practices of psi knowledge, considering them as forms of management that act by through the free and natural acts of individuals. More specifically, our goal is to examine (...) day-to-day practices on some reformist devices such as CAPS through user files. Basically, two driving models have been found in the new devices: 1) Cases with frank intervention of production of commitments and agreements with users, seeking the entry of this to varied activities and political leadership ; 2) Cases with little response from the user, in which the forms of conduction are implemented by policies of inclusion of family members and close reference characters in the management of the patient's life. Control of the population diversity in genetic algorithms applied to the protein structure prediction problem. Genetic Algorithms (GAs), a successful approach for optimization problems, usually fail when employed in the standard configuration in the protein structure prediction problem, since the solution space is very large and the population converges before a reasonable percentage of the possible solutions is explored. Thus, this work investigates the effect of increasing the diversity of the population on this problem by using Hypermutation and Random Immigrants, (...) two traditional population diversity control schemes, in the structure prediction of the proteins Crambin (PDB 1CRN), Met-Enkephalin (PDB 1PLW), and DNA-Ligand (PDB 1ENH). Results show a significant reduction of the minimal energy found, thanks to the diversity, but this does not necessarily means a higher similarity to the original structure.(Portuguese). Emotional intelligence is a psychological skill that aids athletes in the control of emotions and optimization of sports performance. The present study investigated the psychometric properties of the Self-Report Emotional Intelligence Test in 508 Brazilian youth and adult athletes. Data analysis was conducted through Exploratory and Confirmatory Factor Analysis, Cronbach’s alpha, composite reliability and Pearson’s Correlation. EFA revealed the one-factor model with 26 items with the best adjustment. CFA confirmed the one-factor model with 26 items with best greater fit. No (...) evidence of invariance was found, suggesting that the SSEIT must be used with caution when comparing gender and age groups. The external validity was found in the correlation of EI and cognitive anxiety and self-confidence. It is concluded that the Brazilian version of SSEIT for the sports context presented acceptable psychometric properties, however, showed limitations that should be explored in the future. (shrink)

Drawing on the interactionist perspective of innovation and on the sustainable ethical strength framework, the present research examines the moderating role of supervisors’ moral courage to go beyond compliance in the relationships between teamwork quality, team creativity, and team idea implementation. Two field studies, using multi-source and multi-wave data, indicated that teamwork quality was positively related to team idea implementation via team creativity, particularly when team supervisors revealed moral courage to go beyond compliance. When supervisors lacked such courage, teams struggled (...) to develop creative ideas and to implement them. Robustness checks and tests of alternative theoretical explanations indicated that our model and findings are robust. From a theoretical perspective, our findings indicate that, due to its empowering and promotion focused orientation, supervisors’ courage to go beyond compliance has relevance for the teamwork and team innovation domains, playing an important moderating role in defining whether quality teamwork leads to enhanced team creativity and team idea implementation. Trata-se de pesquisa realizada em sede de iniciação científica em nível de graduação concluída no ano de 2022 com financiamento de uma bolsa, por doze meses, pela Universidade Federal do Sul da Bahia (UFSB). Configurou-se como projeto de pesquisa básica multidisciplinar, envolvendo temáticas próprias das Ciências Sociais e Humanidades, notadamente Direito, Educação e Sistema Prisional. Caracterizou-se como uma metapesquisa, com abordagem exploratória, cujo objetivo foi identificar, por meio de revisão bibliográfica e documental abrangendo livros, teses, dissertações, artigos, relatórios de pesquisas (...) e indicadores produzidos entre os anos de 2010 e 2020, o cenário da pesquisa em torno das políticas públicas de educação em prisões no Brasil. Voltou-se a levantar a produção do conhecimento tomando como marco as Diretrizes Nacionais para a oferta de educação para jovens e adultos em situação de privação de liberdade nos estabelecimentos penais emanadas do Conselho Nacional de Educação (CNE), por meio de sua Câmara de Educação Básica (CEB), no âmbito da Resolução CNE/CEB nº 2/2010. Para tanto, metodologicamente, apoiou-se no levantamento em bancos, revistas e repositórios por meio da busca por descritores, tais como: educação em prisões, educação nas prisões e educação no sistema prisional. IntroductionRegular exercise has long been shown to positively impact the immune system responsiveness and improve mental well-being. However, the putative links between biomarkers of mental health and immune efficiency in exercising subjects have been scarcely investigated. The aim of this study was to verify the effect of a 14-week combined chair-based exercise program on salivary steroid hormones and anti-microbial proteins, functional fitness, and MWB indexes in pre-frail older women.MethodsThe participant women were randomly divided into the exercising group and the non-exercising (...) control group. The pre/post assessment included: salivary anti-microbial proteins lysozyme; and immunoglobulin-A ; salivary steroid hormones of testosterone and cortisol ; functional fitness ; MWB questionnaires.ResultsSignificant differences with large Cohen’s effect sizes were found on increased salivary TT after exercise intervention. The results revealed a decrease in IgA levels after CEP. The increase in subjective happiness levels and decrease of stress perception and depressive state were found after intervention in the CEP group. Robust statistical differences in gait speed and balance tests were also found in the CEP group. In control, COR increased moderately while no changes were found for the other indicators. Correlation analyses showed inter-dependence between pre–post variations of MWB, biochemical indexes, and fitness function.ConclusionThe CEP program was able to improve functional-fitness performance, decrease feelings of stress, and increase happiness. The CEP also induced clinically relevant hormonal and immune responses, which suggests that chair exercises that combine muscular strength, balance, and gait speed training are promising interventions to improve physical and mental health of older pre-frail adults. We aimed to characterize the age of onset of training, age at menarche, menstrual periodicity, and performance perception during the menstrual cycle and examined the impact of these reproductive variables on body composition, morphology, and body weight satisfaction in Brazilian elite futsal players. The study consisted of 115 female Brazilian elite futsal players from the top national teams. Data were collected during the twentieth Women’s Brazil Futsal Cup. Players were interviewed and self-reported their age of onset of training, age at (...) menarche, menstrual periodicity, and the menstrual period, where they performed best. We also asked for what they considered to be their ideal body weight as well as information related to their training. Subsequently, anthropometric measurements were performed to estimate the body composition and determine morphological characteristics. Fifty-nine players were postmenarche-trained and 52 were premenarche-trained. Eighteen, 65, and 28 were classified as early, normal, and late menarche, respectively. Only 11 and 1 had irregular menstrual cycles and were amenorrheic, respectively. Seventy-three, 23, and 9 reported that their game performance was the best at the follicular phase, menses, and luteal phase of the menstrual cycle, respectively. No associations between the four reproductive-related variables were found. Postmenarche-trained players had significant lower age at menarche and higher percentage body fat. The somatotype profile registered lower ectomorphy rate for the postmenarche-trained participants after controlling for covariates. Early menarche group presented higher sum of six skinfold thickness and endomorphy rate compared to normal and late menarche groups. No differences were found when menstrual periodicity groups and best performance groups were compared, except for higher femur width in the regular menstrual cycle group compared to the irregular one. The association between body weight satisfaction and the four reproductive-related variables were not observed. Premenarche-trained Brazilian elite futsal players had the menarche later than the postmenarche-trained athletes. Most of the participants had menarche age classified as “normal,” presented “regular” menstrual cycles and perceived to perform better during the follicular phase of the menstrual cycle. (shrink)

Paulo, Ferreira Gullar defendeu a necessidade de se reinventar uma nova utopia para o tempo presente: “por isso mesmo, o fim do regime comunista provocou um vazio ideológico, que necessita ser preenchido, uma vez que a sociedade humana, sem utopia, torna-se inviável”. Trata-se da última dentre tantas reviravoltas em sua saudosa trajetória intelectual. Diante disso, discutimos aqui uma das principais contribuições para esse debate, presente Em um rabo de (...) foguete: trauma e cultura política em Ferreira Gullar, de Marcus Vinícius Furtado da Silva Oliveira. Neste livro, o autor procurou identificar e interpretar várias dessas reviravoltas presentes na vida intelectual do poeta e crítico literário maranhense. Notoriamente, algo que poderia enfraquecer o argumento de uma de suas teses centrais - no caso, o cancelamento das utopias em Ferreira Gullar – ao contrário, acabou por trazer ainda mais relevância para o trabalho, coincidentemente publicado no mesmo ano do texto de Gullar. Neurath’s scientific utopianism is the proposal that the social sciences should engage in the elaboration, development, and comparison of counterfactual scenarios, the ‘utopias’. Such scenarios can be understood as centerpieces of scientific thought experiments, that is, in exercises of imagination that not only promote conceptual revision, but also stimulate creativity to deal with experienced problems, as utopias are efforts to imagine what the future could look like. Moreover, utopian thought experiments can offer scientific knowledge to inform political debates and decisions, (...) contributing to the shaping of society. This essay reconstructs a historical event as an example of Neurath’s utopianist methodology. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, a scientific and political commission appointed by the Western German Parliament devised and compared four scenarios for future energetic-economic policies. Conclusions of the commission informed political decisions that put Western (later reunified) Germany in a route towards becoming a green industrial power. A fundamental part of the commission’s work involved an appeal to imagination, allowing for the characterization under Neurath’s methodology. (shrink)

The prediction of legal judgments is one of the most recognized fields in Natural Language Processing, Artificial Intelligence, and Law combined. By legal prediction, we mean intelligent systems capable of predicting specific judicial characteristics such as the judicial outcome, the judicial class, and the prediction of a particular case. In this study, we used an artificial intelligence classifier to predict the decisions of Brazilian courts. To this end, we developed a text crawler to extract data from official Brazilian electronic legal (...) systems, consisting of two datasets of cases of second-degree murder and active corruption. We applied various classifiers, such as Support Vector Machines, Neural Networks, and others, to predict judicial outcomes by analyzing text features from the dataset. Our research demonstrated that Regression Trees, Gated Recurring Units, and Hierarchical Attention Networks tended to have higher metrics across our datasets. As the final goal, we searched the weights of one of the algorithms, Hierarchical Attention Networks, to find samples of the words that might be used to acquit or convict defendants based on their relevance to the algorithm. Este artigo discute as repercussões da inclusão escolar de pessoas com deficiência no impresso periódico pedagógico Nova Escola, hegemônico entre os periódicos do gênero. Tomou-se como recorte temporal o período delimitado entre 2001-2011, por evidenciar as manifestações e efeitos desse fenômeno nas páginas do periódico durante o período de configuração da proposta brasileira de Educação Especial na perspectiva inclusiva. Foram compiladas as reportagens sobre o assunto publicadas por Nova Escola nesse período, problematizadas pela análise temática do conteúdo, à luz de (...) proposições teóricas marxistas. Os resultados indicaram duas tendências nas tematizações de Nova Escola sobre inclusão escolar de estudantes com deficiência, sendo a primeira delas (2001-2006) pautada no lema do aprender a viver juntos, reforçando o caráter de interatividade “acolhedora” e “privilegiada” da suposta inclusão, com a predominância do estabelecimento de vínculos interpessoais na escola. A segunda (2007-2011) enfatizou a necessidade de uma “inclusão que ensinasse” os conteúdos escolares aos alunos com deficiência, sintetizada no slogan do aprender de verdade. Ambas as tendências, porém, estiveram alinhadas com a ideologia neoliberal e ao senso comum pedagógico, sendo necessário perspectivar outras possibilidades. Palavras-chave: Imprensa pedagógica. School inclusion in review (2001 to 2011): the discursive (re)formulations of the Nova Escola periodical Abstract: This article discusses the repercussions of school inclusion of people with disabilities in the educational periodical Nova Escola, which is hegemonic among journals of its kind. The period delimited between 2001-2011 was taken as a time frame, as it highlights the manifestations and effects of this phenomenon on the pages of the journal during the period of configuration of the Brazilian proposal for Special Education in an inclusive perspective. Reports on the subject published by Nova Escola during this period were compiled, discussed by thematic content analysis, in the light of Marxist theoretical propositions. The results indicated two trends in Nova Escola thematizations about school inclusion of students with disabilities, the first of which (2001-2006) based on the motto of learning to live together, reinforcing the character of “welcoming” and “privileged” interactivity of the supposed inclusion, with the predominance of the establishment of interpersonal bonds at school. The second (2007-2011) emphasized the need for an “inclusion that would teach” school content to students with disabilities, summarized in the slogan of real learning. Both trends, however, were aligned with neoliberal ideology and pedagogical common sense, making it necessary to look at other possibilities. Key-words: Pedagogical press. Inclusive school. Se tomó como marco temporal el período delimitado entre 2001-2011, ya que destaca las manifestaciones y efectos de este fenómeno en las páginas de la revista durante el período de configuración de la propuesta brasileña de Educación Especial en perspectiva inclusiva. Se recopilaron informes sobre el tema publicados por Nova Escola durante este período, discutidos mediante análisis de contenido temático, a la luz de propuestas teóricas marxistas. Los resultados indicaron dos tendencias en las temáticas de Nova Escola sobre inclusión escolar de estudiantes con discapacidad, la primera de las cuales (2001-2006) se basó en el lema de aprender a vivir juntos, reforzando el carácter supuestamente “acogedor” y “privilegiado” de interactividad, inclusión, con predominio del establecimiento de vínculos interpersonales en la escuela. El segundo (2007-2011) enfatizó la necesidad de una “inclusión que enseñe” contenidos escolares a estudiantes con discapacidad, resumida en el lema de aprendizaje real. O objetivo desta pesquisa é averiguar se no caso específico brasileiro, a judicialização da política seria ou não uma relação de correspondência a uma condição de subsidiariedade das demandas sociais dentro da arena legislativa que tem como definição cumprir a função de representação do povo, ou seja, o Poder Legislativo segue uma lógica democrática procedimental que provoca a necessidade da atuação do Poder judiciário sobre demandas da sociedade civil?

Este artigo propõe uma reflexão sobre arte, filosofia, cultura e educação balizada pelos pensamentos de Friedrich Nietzsche e Vilém Flusser. Avesso à erudição acadêmica e profissionalizante, o jovem professor Nietzsche criticava a cultura histórica que segregou o pensamento e a maneira de viver. A essa tendência, o autor opunha uma educação artística, ou seja, uma formação para o pensamento livre e para a criatividade. Este conceito é basilar no pensamento de Flusser e deve ser entendido em consonância com o termo (...) grego poiesis, isto é, instauração de elementos novos na realidade, passagem do não-ser ao ser, abertura de novos caminhos. Trata-se de uma caracterização complexa e extremamente inspiradora para uma reflexão sobre processos educativos que valorizam aquilo que ambos os autores consideram ser o mais próprio do homem: a capacidade de criar.: This paper establishes a reflection about art, philosophy, culture and education inspired by the thoughts of Friedrich Nietzsche and Vilém Flusser. Disinclined to academic and specialised learning, the young teacher Nietzsche criticized the historical culture that had created a separation between the ability of thinking and the ways of life. To this tendency, the author opposed an artistic education, that is, an education towards free thought and creativity. This concept is fundamental in Flusser`s philosophy and must be understood in accordance with the Greek word poiesis, which means the introduction of new elements in reality, the passage from not-being to being, the opening of new routes. This is a complex conceptualization and yet extremely inspiring to a reflection about educational processes that accentuate what both authors consider the most essential human feature: the capacity to create. It is well-known that an element of a commutative ring with identity is nilpotent if, and only if, it lies in every prime ideal of the ring. A modification of this fact is amenable to a very simple proof mining analysis. We formulate a quantitative version of this modification and obtain an explicit bound. We present an application. This proof mining analysis is the leitmotif for some comments and observations on the methodology of computational extraction. Num momento em que a fé e as instituições religiosas parecem caducar temos como movimento oposto a valorização da espiritualidade, pelo menos no que tange à proposta filosófica de Luc Ferry. Secularizando o amor cristão, o autor nos apresenta uma filosofia que é capaz de salvar o homem através do sentido que dado à vida, ou seja, não se espera ser salvos por um absoluto existente fora do mundo, mas a salvação depende unicamente do homem. Nesse sentido, à medida em (...) que fazemos escolhas e projetos individuais, liquidamos com toda forma de pensamento determinista. Neste aspecto, cabe à espiritualidade a tarefa de despertar o homem para a necessidade de se afirmar enquanto sujeito e ao mesmo tempo sair de si mesmo, em direção ao outro, como confirmação de uma espiritualidade laica pautada na compaixão e no amor. No entanto, não se trata de uma espiritualidade sentimentalista, mas antes, uma espiritualidade em conformidade com a tradição filosófica e com a racionalidade humanista. Dessa forma, o espiritual não estará relegado ao âmbito privado, mas alcançará até mesmo as ações políticas e a vida social. Finalmente, perceberemos que essa espiritualidade laica que fundamenta as ações humanitárias e a própria relação familiar se assemelha em muitos aspectos com a proposta agápica do amor cristão. Ou seja, que existindo um devir-perverso do próprio Deleuze, esse devir condiciona uma abordagem à relação do seu pensamento com o tema da perversão, e isto por ser justamente a criação desse heterónimo, o perverso, (...) que está na origem da sua filosofia.Even if only schematically, we say there is a subject, the pervert, in Deleuze’s philosophy. O referido trabalho pretende estabelecer uma interpretação acerca da modernidade e da passagem dessa à pós-modernidade a partir da filosofia de dois autores contemporâneos, a saber, o filósofo francês Luc Ferry e o filósofo italiano Gianni Vattimo. Notar-se-á que entre os autores, apesar de alguns poucos pontos em comum, prevalece divergência de pontos de vista e de compreensão dos acontecimentos históricos, políticos e sociais que marcaram a sociedade moderna e, posteriormente, a pós-modernidade. A chave de leitura será o conceito de (...) niilismo, que em Ferry ganha uma conotação de força e de manutenção de verdades fortes, o que caracteriza, segundo ele, a modernidade; enquanto que, em Vattimo esse niilismo é o enfraquecimento dessas estruturas modernas e a garantia da pós-modernidade enquanto um momento de superação das verdades metafísicas. Diante desse cenário, analisaremos os limites da proposta de Ferry que se apega a uma crítica do niilismo realizada por Nietzsche, desconsiderando, contudo, a afirmação que o anunciador da morte de Deus faz de um niilismo ativo. O conceito de narratividade tem sido frequentemente utilizado entre filósofos da mente que pretendem compreender criticamente a questão da identidade pessoal na filosofia contemporânea. Trata-se de pensá-la como uma teia narrativa que se desenrola durante a vida. Ao personagem narrado chamaríamos ‘eu’. Daniel Dennett e David Velleman são dois eminentes defensores deste tipo de visão. O presente artigo visa expor brevemente os pontos de aproximação entre estes autores, mas principalmente discutir um importante momento de afastamento entre eles, especialmente no que (...) tange à ideia de um módulo central narrativo, introduzida por Velleman e criticada por Dennett. Como contraposição à visão narrativa será, por fim, contraposta outra proposta de se pensar a identidade pessoal, como negação da narratividade, presente no pensamento de Galen Strawson. (shrink)

Nosso estudo não consistirá unicamente no exame do pensamento religioso de Bergson. E também não será uma reflexão específica sobre sua filosofia da natureza ou ainda sobre sua filosofia da ciência. Nosso objetivo se situa na junção das ideias bergsonianas sobre o natural e o sobrenatural, sobre o filosófico e o religioso, sobre a ciência e a metafísica. Mas tal empreitada corre um grande risco: o de justapor, em um primeiro momento, estes diferentes campos de reflexão para, em um segundo (...) momento, tentar reuni-los. O élan vital nos parece o caminho mais seguro para nos proteger deste risco. Uma vez que ele está na intersecção de diferentes ordens do pensamento de Bergson, ele não favorece apenas sua articulação, ele o demanda. Consequentemente, é do ponto de vista interno à filosofia da natureza que aparece a questão religiosa em Bergson. Tal é a hipótese que formulamos.Resumé: Notre étude ne consistera pas uniquement en l’examen de la pensée religieuse chez Bergson. Elle ne será pas non plus une réflexion spécifique sur sa philosophie de la nature ou encore sur sa philosophie des sciences. L’objet de notre recherche se situe à la jonction des idées bergsoniennes sur le religieux, sur la science et la métaphysique. Mais une telle enterprise court un risque majeur, celui de juxtaposer, dans un premier temps, ces différentes champs réflexifs pour, dans un deuxième moment, tenter de les reunir. L’élan vital nous apparaît le moyen le plus certain de prevenir ce risque. Parce qu’il est à l’intersection des différents ordres de la pensée de Bergson, il ne favorise pas seulement leur articulation, il l’exige. Par conséquent, c’est d’um point de vue interne à la philosophie de la nature elle-même que se pose la question religieuse chez Bergson. Telle est l’hypothèse que nous formulons. This paper aims to explore the association between over-indebtedness and two facets of well-being – life satisfaction and emotional well-being. Although prior research has associated over-indebtedness with lower life satisfaction, this study contributes to the extant literature by revealing its effects on emotional well-being, which is a crucial component of well-being that has received less attention. Besides subjective well-being, reported health, and sleep quality were also assessed. The findings suggest that over-indebted consumers have lower life satisfaction and emotional well-being, as (...) well as poorer health and sleep quality. Furthermore, over-indebtedness impacts life satisfaction and emotional well-being through different mechanisms. Consumers decreased perceived control accounts for the impact of over-indebtedness on both facets of well-being. Financial well-being, partly mediates the impact of indebtedness status on overall life satisfaction. The current study contributes to research focusing on the relationship between indebtedness, well-being, health, and sleep quality, and provides relevant theoretical and practical implications. In finite type arithmetic, the real numbers are represented by rapidly converging Cauchy sequences of rational numbers. Ulrich Kohlenbach introduced abstract types for certain structures such as metric spaces, normed spaces, Hilbert spaces, etc. With these types, the elements of the spaces are given directly, not through the mediation of a representation. However, these abstract spaces presuppose the real numbers. In this paper, we show how to set up an abstract type for the real numbers. The aim of this work is to establish a relationship between the notion of supplement, particularly that of “dangerous supplement”, and the passion for botany in Rousseau. For that, I will take as a guide the interpretations of Jacques Derrida, Alain Grosrichard and Alexandra Cook to analyze some passages from Confessions, Reveries and Letters on the botany. I have the hypothesis that botanical activity can be considered as a kind of inoffensive supplement because it evokes an image that combines sex (...) and innocence. (shrink)

O projeto de parentalidade e suas consequências na existência do ser humano. Uma reflexão a partir da perspectiva religiosa (The parenting project and its consequences in human being’s existence. No processo geracional estão embutidas várias implicações e consequências tanto para quem gera, quanto para quem é gerado. Para o casal, o nascimento de um filho é o fruto inquestionável de sua união. Entretanto, também deve (...) ser fruto da vontade, do cuidado e do amor desse casal. Um ser humano que se sente amado e querido por seus pais será o reflexo de uma existência radicada no amor e por isso, uma presença amorosa. Deste modo, o estudo a respeito do projeto de parentalidade tem como proposta colaborar na reflexão a respeito da totalidade do ser humano a partir de uma existência ainda como intenção, que se desenvolve no encontro de um pai e uma mãe que desejam como fruto de seu amor, gerar aquele ou aquela que já é por eles amado, amada. Trata-se de um ato de amor que constrói de maneira consciente a existência de uma humanidade plenamente consciente de si em virtude da consciência e da vontade de quem quis gerá-la. Religião.To generate a child is to generate a life. In the generation process are embedded several implications and consequences both for those who generate and for those who are generated. For the couple the birth of a child is unquestionably the fruit of their union. However, it should also be the result of the will, the care and the love of this couple. A human being who feels loved and cherished by its parents will be the reflection of a life based in love and therefore, a loving presence. Thus, the study about the parenting project is proposing to collaborate in thinking about the whole human being from his/her intent before his/her existence, which develops from the encounter of a father and a mother who desire as the fruit of their love to generate the one that is already beloved by them. It is an act of love that builds consciously the existence of a fully self-conscious humanity by the virtue of consciousness and the will of those who wanted to generate it. No presente artigo analisamos o entendimento e o uso da filosofia kantiana pelo físico filósofo alemão Werner Heisenberg, prêmio Nobel de Física de 1932, formulador do princípio de incerteza. Heisenberg parece adotar uma compreensão neokantiana da natureza da ciência, segundo a qual a ciência não trataria do real em si, mas apenas do modo como ele aparece, o que depende, inescapavelmente, da interação entre o sujeito e o objeto do conhecimento. No entanto, a despeito de tal posição, Heisenberg considera que (...) as definições kantianas de “espaço”, “tempo” e “causalidade” não são compatíveis com os desenvolvimentos da mecânica quântica. In Brazil, every study involving human beings is required to produce an informed consent form that must be signed by study participants: this is stated in Resolution 196/96. 1 Consent must be obtained through a specific structured process. Objective: To present the opinions of women regarding how the process of obtaining informed consent should be conducted when women are invited to participate in studies on contraceptive methods. Subjects and Methods: Eight focus groups were conducted, involving a total of 51 women (...) living in the metropolitan region of Campinas. The women involved in the study were either participating in a clinical trial in the area of women's health or had participated in such a trial in the previous 12 months. A thematic guide was used to conduct the focus group discussions; the discussions were recorded, transcribed and a thematic analysis performed. Results: In general, the person who invites a woman to participate in a study should be a member of the research team but not the principal investigator. Information relating to the study should be given orally and in writing, both individually and in the group setting. Study volunteers should be informed about, among other things, the risks, possible side effects and discomforts, including long-term effects. The use of audiovisual aids to provide information was suggested. Conclusion: The process for obtaining informed consent was seen as a means of establishing a relationship between the volunteers and the investigator/research team. The information that the study participants expected to be given coincides with the requirements established under Resolution 196/96. The use of audiovisual aids would improve understanding of the information provided. (shrink)

In this article, I discuss Otto Neurath’s philosophy in the context of Vienna Circle modernism. Following recent scholarship, the discussion considers as a starting point Neurath’s participation at the fourth International Congress of Modern Architecture (CIAM IV). However, the image of Neurath’s modernism that results from this perspective is incomplete because it tends to overlook the importance of scientific utopianism in Neurath’s thought. Scientific utopianism is a methodology proposed by Neurath for the social sciences in technological contexts, in which scientists (...) elaborate and develop plans (utopias) for the transformation of society, thus contributing to an informed societal debate. Decisions are nevertheless kept outside the domain of scientific activity. I claim that recognizing the centrality of scientific utopianism in Neurath’s philosophy is fundamental to understand Neurath’s modernism. This interpretation highlights the affinities of Neurath’s philosophy of the social sciences with the modern utopianism of H. G. Wells. Both authors consider that there can be no ultimate solution to social problems but that a plural and constant debate of proposals is fundamental for the improvement of society. Therefore, Neurath’s modernism connects his philosophy of science to the literary utopian tradition. (shrink)

The article deals with race relations in Brazil, analyzing how adult and children’s literature in Brazil has worked to maintain and update the "complex prosperous." The article is guided by the hypothesis that the main challenge is to mover narratives, literature and textbooks which go beyond the homogeneity of a single story based on white as representative "natural" discourse of the human species that places the "other" as "deviant", from the hegemony of the white hierarchy for plural discourses. In Brazilian (...) racial hierarchies are profuse and profound. An analysis of "the Negro as an object" indicate the presence of some striking black characters as tending to be subordination and inferiority. The alternatives are linked to the "black literature" that demonstrates richness and strength but at the same time, this literature is maintained as "marginal." In children’s literature the process is very similar, observing continuous forms of hierarchy of whites as superior and blacks as inferior. I discuss the need for teacher training and the production of alternatives and other new literary discourse. (shrink)

A investigação transcendental pressupõe um exercício de abstração, que na Crítica da Razão Pura se aplica ao conhecimento da experiência. Sua bipartição em dois modos-de-representação, contudo, levanta duas dificuldades à teoria da objetividade kantiana: como conciliar os, elementos separados pela análise e como assegurar a legitimidade da abstração sobre o conhecimento empírico.

É comum resumir a experiência moral kantiana à adesão do agente à lei que sua própria razão lhe impõe. O valor incondicional da autonomia aparece, desse modo, como elemento suficiente para uma doutrina normativa do agir, mesmo sob o risco de tornar o agente que segue a razão alguém alheio à experiência em que se inscreve efetivamente. Contra essa leitura, procura-se mostrar aqui que, para Kant, (i) a determinação da vontade pela razão traz consigo uma reflexão sobre as condições de (...) efetivação da moralidade, assegurando o sentido da perfórmance moral, e que (ii) tal reflexão possui um significado genuinamente especulativo. In this paper architectural forms are presented as symbolic forms issued from the complex semiosis that characterises human cognition (Ferreira (2007, 2010)). Being semiotic objects, these symbolic forms are, consequently, context- dependent_they emerge and have meaning, i.e., they are assigned a functional and/or aesthetic value, in particular physical, social and cultural frameworks. As it happens with all semiotic objects, architectural forms, whatever their nature, are not static but highly interactive. In fact, they act as agents of specific semiotic processes, (...) engaged in a permanent dialectic relationship with the environment they are embedded in. From this dialectics important physical, social, cultural and economic changes frequently arise, redefining this way the original framework for decades to come. As Pallasmaa (2009) points out: “Architecture is existentially rooted, and it expresses fundamental existential experiences, the complex condensation of how it feels to be human being in this world. Architecture grounds and frames existence and creates specific horizons of perception, understanding and identity.” Architecture happens in the context of particular landscapes both natural and man-made, individuating spaces, assigning them an identity, turning the frequently undifferentiated physical environment into “locus”, “place”, “site”, “ort”, definitely contributing to the definition of the mental map that individual minds are able to share collectively. The fundamental role played by architectural forms in the definition of “place” and identity and in the shaping or reshaping of a physical, social and cultural environment is analysed in this paper through a case study that observes the consequences of this dynamics in the development of the social and cultural tissue of a particular city. ABSTRACT This study is an ethical reflection on the formulation and application of public policies regarding reproductive health in Brazil. The Integral Assistance Program for Women's Health (PAISM) can be considered advanced for a country in development. Universal access for family planning is foreseen in the Brazilian legislation, but the services do not offer contraceptive methods for the population in a regular and consistent manner. Abortion is restricted by law to two cases: risk to the woman's life and rape. This (...) reality favors the practice of unsafe abortion, which is the third largest cause of maternal death in Brazil. Legal abortion is regulated by the State and the procedure is performed in public health centers. However, there is resistance on the part of professionals to attend these women. Prenatal care is a priority strategy for promoting the quality of life of these women and of future generations. Nonetheless, it is still difficult for these women to access the prenatal care services and to have the required number of consultations.
