Implicit Mentalizing in Patients With Schizophrenia: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.Timea Csulak, András Hajnal, Szabolcs Kiss, Fanni Dembrovszky, Margit Varjú-Solymár, Zoltán Sipos, Márton Aron Kovács, Márton Herold, Eszter Varga, Péter Hegyi, Tamás Tényi & Róbert Herold - 2022 - Frontiers in Psychology 13.
IntroductionMentalizing is a key aspect of social cognition. Several researchers assume that mentalization has two systems, an explicit one and an implicit one. In schizophrenia, several studies have confirmed the deficit of explicit mentalizing, but little data are available on non-explicit mentalizing. However, increasing research activity can be detected recently in implicit mentalizing. The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to summarize the existing results of implicit mentalizing in schizophreniaMethodsA systematic search was performed in four major databases: MEDLINE, (...)

Blaming the Kids: Children's Agency and Diminished Responsibility.Michael Tiboris - 2013 - Journal of Applied Philosophy 31 (1):77-90.
Children are less blameworthy for their beliefs and actions because they are young. But the relationship between development and responsibility is complex. What exactly grounds the excuses we rightly give to young agents? This article presents three distinct arguments for children's diminished responsibility. Drawing on significant resources from developmental psychology, it rejects views which base the normative adult/child distinction on children's inability to participate in certain kinds of moral communication or to form principled self-conceptions which guide their actions. The article (...)

    What's Wrong With Undermatching?Michael Tiboris - 2014 - Journal of Philosophy of Education 48 (4):646-664.
‘Undermatched’ is the name education researchers have given to the surprisingly large number of students who attend post-secondary institutions which are less selective than their academic credentials would permit, or who simply fail to even apply for college when they are qualified to do so. At first, this might seem like an obviously bad trend, especially as rates of undermatching are much higher among students from low-income backgrounds. This article argues, however, that individual cases of undermatching are sometimes morally acceptable (...)

  7. The Wørd: Fearless Speech and the Politics of Language.Kory Schaff & Michael Tiboris - 2009 - In Aaron Allen Schiller (ed.), Stephen Colbert and Philosophy. New York: Open Court Press. pp. 115-30.
Does “The Colbert Report” promote democratic values in American political dialogue? If so, does it encourage substantive criticism of political orthodoxy? Or does it just encourage the politics of cynicism, like so many other cable news shows? We claim that Stephen Colbert's style of political satire promotes democratic values of free, open, and critical speech because it reflects an ethical commitment that evokes the earlier spirit of criticism embodied by the ancient Greek philosophical tradition of _parrhesia_, or "speaking the truth" (...)

“Finding an Emotional Face” Revisited: Differences in Own-Age Bias and the Happiness Superiority Effect in Children and Young Adults.Andras N. Zsido, Nikolett Arato, Virag Ihasz, Julia Basler, Timea Matuz-Budai, Orsolya Inhof, Annekathrin Schacht, Beatrix Labadi & Carlos M. Coelho - 2021 - Frontiers in Psychology 12.
People seem to differ in their visual search performance involving emotionally expressive faces when these expressions are seen on faces of others close to their age compared to faces of non-peers, known as the own-age bias. This study sought to compare search advantages in angry and happy faces detected on faces of adults and children on a pool of children and adults. The goals of this study were to examine the developmental trajectory of expression recognition and examine the development of (...)

    UK audit reporting practices in the pre-ISA700 (2015 revision) era.George-Silviu Cordoș, Melinda-Timea Fülöp & Adriana Tiron-Tudor - 2020 - Asian Journal of Business Ethics 9 (2):349-370.
Given its significance to stakeholders, the process of revising audit reports is an essential subject in today’s economic context. This study aims to detail relevant elements of this process by evaluating alterations to and developments of the audit report, as supported by international and regional standard-setters and regulators. To that end, we examine audit reports that have already applied new auditing regulations. This case study approach allows us to highlight UK audit-reporting practices both before and after the ISA 700 was (...)
