Telle est la sombre grandeur proposee desormais a l'historien contemporain : consacrer ses efforts a discrediter les auteurs anciens en montrant a quel point ils avaient ete tributaires de leurs aveuglements ; souligner les lacunes, la myopie, l'extravagance de leurs jugements ; debusquer prejuges de classe et stereotypes de genre ; dresser l'inventaire, la genealogie de leurs successives reinterpretations par chaque generation. Tenir en revanche leurs oeuvres pour un reservoir d'exemples, de modeles, de situations utiles pour guider notre reflexion, (...) comme le recommandait Plutarque, les considerer meme comme des chefs d'oeuvre d'une "inalterable actualite", parce qu'ils "savent dire ce que l'homme a d'humain" serait rester a la surface des choses, "dans l'ether de la culture classique". Se flatter de poursuivre avec ces vieux morts un dialogue que nos differences et notre eloignement releguent au rang de vain songe releverait de la naivete, de l'amateurisme et de l'outrecuidance. J'ai ecrit ce livre parce que je pense tout le contraire. Repudiant tout anachronisme simplificateur, mais refusant aussi de considerer le legs de l'Antiquite comme une beaute morte, infeconde, Michel De Jaeghere mobilise sa formation d'historien des idees, sa longue frequentation des auteurs antiques, et sa familiarite avec la politique contemporaine pour affronter une redoutable question : les Anciens sont-ils, en politique, encore de bon conseil? A partir d’une enquête empirique auprès de « soixante-huitards », cet article revisite la question des générations politiques sous l’angle du genre. Le genre s’avère en effet essentiel pour appréhender les effets différenciés qu’ont pu avoir les événements de Mai-Juin 68 sur les trajectoires des enquêtés. En partant du constat que les femmes sont significativement plus nombreuses que leurs homologues masculins à revendiquer le sentiment d’appartenir à une « génération de 68 », l’article rend compte de l’influence (...) du genre sur les formes de politisation postérieures à Mai 68 et sur les incidences personnelles et quotidiennes du militantisme en Mai 68. Contemporary Chinese society has witnessed ongoing complex institutional and cultural reconfiguration, driven by the transition from the socialist planned economy to marketization and later its deep engagement in globalization and neoliberalism. In this reshaping of Chinese society, tradition and modernity, the resurgence of patriarchal Confucian tradition, the socialist version of modernity, the capitalist version of modernity, and the socialist heritage intermingle, and all seem to define a mosaic temporality.Facing the increasing uncertainties of the market, family members in post-reform China have (...) to stick together as an economic safety net, emotional harbor and spiritual fortress. Chinese parents heavily invest in their children and continue to support them in their adulthood; whereas, the youth is under great obligation to providing old age care for their parents; and parents may regard this heavily-invested offspring as their private product. This resurgent but modified familialism, is not an exact replication of traditional familialism, but is definitely different from the family modes featured by individualism in Western contexts. Mosaic familialism is characterized by a sequential symbiosis between parents and children facing financial constraints and unforeseeable uncertainties with a lack of a social safety net. At the same time, patriarchal Confucianism is rejuvenated to a certain degree, women’s traditional wife and mother role is once again stressed, if not glorified; and the neoliberal discourse articulating personal choice and responsibility, but not individual right, stands by seamlessly. Parents and children, husband and wife are dependent on each other in the intimate family, following a clearly gendered pattern. (shrink)

Is genre film comparable to a thought experiment?Revising concepts of determinism and agency in three film noirs The philosophical approach of film genres, first popularized by authors like Stanley Cavell, allows to consider genre films as narrative variations as pertinent to philosophical discourse as can be a traditional thought experiment, since every question on the essence of a genre and every discussion related to its inner functions, its mechanisms and its themes, generate naturally a philosophical discourse on (...) the way a director uses filmic and narrative tools to transform his intentions into a specific system of meaning. This study adopts formalist and philosophical approaches to connect the narratives of the movies to the discourses it is prone to generate. The corpus draws on the ‘primitive scene' in three films noirs, Out of the Past, The Lady from Shanghai et Criss Cross : the tragic meeting of an anti-hero with the woman who will be responsible of his fall. Indeed, the sequence showing this first meeting becomes an exercise in style where forerunning signs of the two protagonists' fall organize the writing and the mise-en-scene, and explicitly shows how questions of agency and determinism are intimately articulated to the narrative and formal frame of the movies. L’article réunit les premiers résultats d’une enquête en cours sur l’histoire des femmes et du genre au Brésil. Il est basé sur des interviews réalisées auprès d’historien-ne-s ayant une production reconnue dans ce champ, et sur l’étude de leurs itinéraires. Les entretiens, d’abord oraux, se sont poursuivis par courrier électronique. Ces derniers échanges étant à mi-chemin entre le dialogue oral et l’échange épistolaire, duquel ils se différencient par leur rapidité et par leur caractère informel. Les onze historien-ne-s interrogé-e-s appartiennent (...) à trois générations : les pionnières (3), qui ont commencé leurs travaux et leurs enseignements pendant la décennie 1970 ; celles qui ont été formées par celles-ci ou par leurs contemporains (4), et les plus jeunes (4), qui témoignent de certains développements actuels de l’histoire des femmes et du genre au Brésil. The particle internal clock conjectured by de Broglie in 1924 was investigated in a channeling experiment using a beam of ∼80 MeV electrons aligned along the 〈110〉 direction of a 1 μm thick silicon crystal. Some of the electrons undergo a rosette motion, in which they interact with a single atomic row. When the electron energy is finely varied, the rate of electron transmission at 0° shows a 8% dip within 0.5% of the resonance energy, 80.874 MeV, for which the (...) frequency of atomic collisions matches the electron’s internal clock frequency. As yet, there is no enactive account of social cognition. This paper extends the enactive concept of sense-making into the social domain. It takes as its departure point the process of interaction between individuals in a social encounter. It is a well-established finding that individuals can and generally do coordinate their movements and utterances in such situations. We argue that the interaction process can take on a form of autonomy. This allows us to reframe the problem of social cognition as (...) that of how meaning is generated and transformed in the interplay between the unfolding interaction process and the individuals engaged in it. The notion of sense-making in this realm becomes participatory sense-making. The onus of social understanding thus moves away from strictly the individual only. (shrink)

Chapter 20 of Plotinus’ treatise VI, 2 [43] has received particular attention because it seems to deal with the Intellect. However, the connection of this chapter with chapter 19 is problematic insofar as the latter deals with the ways in which species are generated by the first genera. Our aim will be to show that chapter 20 can only be understood in the light of the notion of genus. More precisely, Plotinus’ aim in this chapter is to demonstrate the priority (...) of the genus over its species by means of the theory of double activity. In order to demonstrate this point, the notion of Intellect is introduced by Plotinus as a model (παράδειγμα) to conceive this priority. We will study successively these two chapters to justify this point, insisting on the link between them as well as on the reinterpretation of some key Aristotelian concepts. This study also shows that the use of the comparison with science allows Plotinus to justify the primacy of the intelligible totalities that are the Soul and the Intellect as well as the generation of their respective parts, the particular souls and the particular intellects. This article presents a review of the theoretical support of the Portfolio of Evidence as a pedagogical tool to be used at the higher level with the aim of improving writing products, understanding the importance of developing in students’ skills for the optimal construction of academic writings. The portfolio then becomes a resource used by teachers not only to obtain evidence of the progress of students in the subject that is developed, but also constitutes an indicator to assess the progress (...) in the acquisition of learning in the studentfrom the writings it produces. The particularity of being continuous and progressive also allows the student to self-assess their progress through the writing they make and can generate strategies for continuous improvement. Cet article analyse la place occupée dans les parcours de vie par différents événements historiques de la période transitoire entre l’époque soviétique et postsoviétique. Il s’appuie sur deux terrains de recherche : un conduit en Russie auprès de familles d’au moins trois générations, l’autre – en Allemagne auprès de migrants arrivés en tant que Juifs de l’espace soviétique. L’article montre que dans les récits, les différentes dates officielles de l’époque ne sont pas réellement distinguées, mais traités davantage comme un seul (...) événement, ne se décomposant pas en éléments distincts. Nous proposons de distinguer trois types de discours biographiques en fonction de la place accordée à la période dans les parcours de vie. Le premier type de discours peut être qualifié d’anhistorique car il tend à ignorer les changements macrosociaux. La deuxième façon de mettre son parcours de vie en récit consiste à présenter la période transitionnelle comme une rupture, causant une bifurcation individuelle. Enfin, certains de nos interlocuteurs qualifient la transition d’une parenthèse, en rapprochant à travers leur vécu la période soviétique et postsoviétique. (shrink)

Les espaces de rencontre enfants-parents sont des dispositifs qui ont émergé il y a plusieurs décennies en Europe occidentale avec des modalités de fonctionnement en partie convergentes. Cet article s’intéresse aux analogies de fonctionnement entre les différents dispositifs européens à partir des discours professionnels ou institutionnels. Les auteurs font l’hypothèse que ces derniers sont soutenus, en partie, par des métacadres culturels communs. Afin de traiter de cette problématique, l’article s’inscrit, sur le plan méthodologique, dans une double perspective : synchronique (les (...) témoignages des professionnels et des représentants institutionnels des différents pays concernés) et diachronique (les écrits des psychothérapeutes fondateurs des espaces de rencontre en France). Les métacadres culturels repérés sont observés selon trois axes : celui du maintien du lien parents-enfants, celui des rapports entre générations en termes de droit et d’autorité, enfin celui des rapports de genre dans le couple parental. In this essay, I reflect on the implications of intellectual virtues in scientific endeavor. To this end, I first offer a depiction of scientific endeavor by resorting to the notion of academic attitude, which involves aspects concerning the generation and possession of knowledge. Although there are differences between these activities, they have in common the engagement of diverse intellectual agents (scientists). In this sense, I analyze how intellectual virtues are linked to 1) scientific research tasks, such as theory appraisal, and (...) 2) those tasks of vigilance and intervention in the uses of scientific knowledge. I conclude that intellectual virtues play a leading role in achieving higher quality scientific research and adequate foresight on the uses and impacts of scientific findings. In this order of ideas, I propose an agenda for further inquiries on these matters, highlighting the relevance of reflecting and empirically researching the relationship between intellectual virtues and science, as well as cultivating intellectual virtues in various stages of scientific training. Living things, though they do not differ in nature from nonliving things, and are, as Descartes said, machines, are directly created by God, who forms the seeds of all living things at creation. Preformationism gives Régis not only a means of accounting for seeds and for specific differences (...) among living things, but also a basis for attributing purposes to them, and thus for defining health and disease in soulless creatures. Étudier les actes de requête dans les discours prononcés aux Nations Unies s’avère d’une utilité certaine dans le travail de caractérisation de ce sous-genre diplomatique. La formulation indirecte des actes de langage et les procédés linguistiques qui éloignent les sources potentielles de confrontation révèle des discours contraints par l’exercice de la « politesse », au service de l’impératif institutionnel de valorisation du consensus. Ces discours qui s’éloignent du fonctionnement du langage ordinaire transfèrent la prise en charge de l’énonciation aux (...) États-membres qui sont ici de véritables locuteurs et qui partant parlent en leur propre nom. L’on observe alors l’impact d’un contexte socio-discursif sur le fonctionnement de langue. Les requêtes formulées dans ces discours reflètent les problématiques qui préoccupent les États membres, puisque dans bien des cas, une requête peut être l’aveu d’un manque. Les verbes illocutoires donnent un bon aperçu des « façons de parler » et témoignent d’ores-et-déjà d’une routinisation des pratiques langagières. (shrink)

In this article, I present in a systematic way Aristotle’s understanding of movement (kinêsis) as efficient cause in the Generation of Animals. This aspect of movement is not disclosed in the approach to movement as an incomplete activity in contrast to energeia, which has been extensively discussed in the literature. I explain in which sense movement is the efficient cause of generation and how this movement is related to the other factors, in particular the source of movement, the seminal fluid, (...) pneuma, and the vital heat, as well as to the form and the soul. The role of movement as efficient cause of generation shows how, for Aristotle, form and soul are inseparable from matter and movement in nature. Explaining the role of movement as efficient cause of generation also helps to make sense of the multiplicity of factors involved in the efficient causality of generation. The key to articulating these factors with one another is the identity of form of the generative movement, which is specifically the same in the source, in the tools, and in the substance that is coming into being. RESUMEN Giorgio Agamben ha caracterizado las reglas monásticas como la constitución de una forma de vida en que -más allá de la ley- la regla y la vida se tornan indiscernibles. En este artículo asumimos la invitación de Agamben a trazar la historia semántica del léxico de la regla y nos preguntamos qué ocurrió cuando, en la primera Modernidad, las reglas se extrapolaron a la trama completa del mundo de vida, como ocurrió en la espiritualidad metódica de protestantes y jesuitas. A través del análisis de uno de los géneros de discurso que ilustra el encuadramiento normativo de las prácticas modernas en ambientes protestantes y jesuitas, los libros barrocos de regu-lae, caracterizamos cierto régimen discursivo y semiótico que sirvió de marco para el pensamiento metódico moderno y su racionalismo analítico. ABSTRACT Giorgio Agamben has characterized the monastic rules as the constitution of a way of life in which -beyond the law- the rule and the life become indiscernible. In this article we accept the invitation of Agamben to trace the semantic history of the lexicon of the rule and we wonder what happened when, in the first Modernity, the rules were extrapolated to the complete plot of the world of life, as in the methodical spirituality of Protestants and Jesuits. Through the analysis of one genre of discourse that illustrates the normative framing of modern practices in Protestant and Jesuit environments, the baroque books of regulae, we characterize a certain discursive and semiotic regime that served as a framework for modern methodical thought and its analytical rationalism. Here, we focus on the underexplored fictional relevance of videogame glitches. For this purpose, we will make use philosophical theories on fiction, as well as standard suggestions about how best to deal with unintended errors within fiction. Focusing on glitches like that of Red Dead Redemption’s "manimals", we argue that glitches, more than any kinds of mistakes in traditional, non-interactive fictions, can actually have a significant influence on the fictional worlds of the work in which they appear. In particular, we (...) will show that some glitches generate new fictional content without this content being intended by a videogame’s creators, and will offer practical ways for dealing with the inconsistencies that inevitably accompany such glitch-generated fictions. The lambda calculus is a universal programming language. It can represent the computable functions, and such offers a formal counterpart to the point of view of functions as rules. Terms represent functions and this allows for the application of a term/function to any other term/function, including itself. The calculus can be seen as a formal theory with certain pre-established axioms and inference rules, which can be interpreted by models. Dana Scott proposed the first non-trivial model of the extensional lambda calculus, (...) known as $ D_{\infty }$, to represent the $\lambda $-terms as the typical functions of set theory, where it is not allowed to apply a function to itself. Here we propose a construction of an $\infty $-groupoid from any lambda model endowed with a topology. We apply this construction for the particular case $D_{\infty }$, and we see that the Scott topology does not provide enough information about the relationship between higher homotopies. This motivates a new line of research focused on the exploration of $\lambda $-models with the structure of a non-trivial $\infty $-groupoid to generalize the proofs of term conversion to higher-proofs in $\lambda $-calculus. Developing a reading of some of Beauvoir and Sartre's most influential writings in philosophy, Max Deutscher explores contemporary philosophy in the light of the phenomenological tradition within which Being and Nothingness and The Second Sex occurred as striking events operating on the border of the modern and the 'post-modern'. Deutscher traces the shifts of genre that produce their gendered philosophies, and responds in terms of contemporary experience to the mood and the arguments of their works. Drawing upon the writings (...) of two contemporary critics in particular - Michele Le Dœuff and Luce Irigaray - Deutscher reworks this part of philosophy's history in order to advance thinking in contemporary philosophy, generate renewed philosophical reflection on consciousness, freedom and one's relation to others, and to return a look still cast in our direction from an earlier time. Après une évocation des travaux de quelques cliniciens qui se servent du génogramme comme médiation, l’article s’attache à présenter cet outil dans le cadre de la formation des thérapeutes familiaux de l’association psyfa (Psychanalyse et Famille). Sont envisagés en particulier sa finalité et les modalités de son utilisation. Le but de cet exercice en groupe est de permettre à chacun de réfléchir à la place qu’il occupe dans sa famille actuelle, de repérer les legs des générations précédentes, de s’intéresser aux (...) phénomènes de répétition qui impactent les différents membres du groupe familial ainsi que les relations traduites en termes d’alliances. Les particularités de la situation groupale sont aussi évoquées, comme les nécessités du cadre contenant, les résonances induites chez les participants et la créativité du goupe qui s’exprime. This paper analyses the phenomenology and epistemology of chatbots such as ChatGPT and Bard. The computational architecture underpinning these chatbots are large language models (LLMs), which are generative AI (Artificial Intelligence) systems trained on a massive dataset of text extracted from the Web. We conceptualise these LLMs as multifunctional computational cognitive artifacts, used for various cognitive tasks such as translating, summarizing, answering questions, information-seeking, and much more. Phenomenologically, LLMs can be experienced as a “quasi-other”; when that happens, users anthropomorphise them. (...) For most users, current LLMs are black boxes, i.e., for the most part, they lack data transparency and algorithmic transparency. They can, however, be phenomenologically and informationally transparent, in which case there is an interactional flow. Anthropomorphising and interactional flow can, in some users, create an attitude of (unwarranted) trust towards the output LLMs generate. We conclude this paper by drawing on the epistemology of trust and testimony to examine the epistemic implications of these dimensions. Whilst LLMs generally generate accurate responses, we observe two epistemic pitfalls. Ideally, users should be able to match the level of trust that they place in LLMs to the degree that LLMs are trustworthy. However, both their data and algorithmic opacity and their phenomenological and informational transparency can make it difficult for users to calibrate their trust correctly. The effects of these limitations are twofold: users may adopt unwarranted attitudes of trust towards the outputs of LLMs (which is particularly problematic when LLMs hallucinate), and the trustworthiness of LLMs may be undermined. It is widely recognised that we hold certain moral obligations to future generations. Robert Elliot argues that we can base these obligations on the rights of future people. I accept his argument that future people are moral agents who possess rights. However, I argue that the main question for political and moral philosophers is whether it is possible to find the balance between the obligations to, and the rights of, contemporaries, and the obligations to, and the rights of, future people. (...) By analysing the notions of 'human rights' and 'welfare rights' of future people, I argue that this question can be tackled only in terms of welfare rights. But the latter make sense only in the context of community of provision. This implies that we must first examine the 'trans-generational' community that includes contemporaries and future generations. Thus a theory of justice between generations cannot be purely 'rights-based'. However, by describing the 'trans-generational community' I argue that it can serve as the moral grounds for our obligations to future generations. (shrink)

Este artigo aborda o combate que empreendeu Gustavo Corção à juventude católica brasileira nas páginas do Diário de Notícias e d’ O Globo entre as décadas de 1950 e de 1960. No caso em tela, interessa-nos entender as reações de Gustavo Corção às mudanças na sociedade e na Igreja Católica entre 1957 e 1964. A hipótese é que as críticas de Corção explicitam o conflito entre duas gerações de católicos: uma conservadora; a dele; e outra progressista, a das organizações de (...) jovens católicos, mais especificamente, a da Juventude Universitária Católica (JUC). Apresentaremos a disputa a partir do exame da seguinte questão: o papel que a juventude brasileira deveria desempenhar naqueles anos. O objetivo é mostrar que suas críticas à opção de ação temporal assumida pelas organizações de juventude católica devem ser lidas pela chave do conflito geracional que marcou o campo católico brasileiro. We are going to examine the question: the role that Brazilian youth should play in those years. Therefore, the aim is to show that his criticism of the political action undertaken by the young catholic organizations should be read by the key of generation conflict which has marked the Brazilian Catholic field. RESUMENEl artículo analiza el papel desempeñado por los argumentos de pendiente resbaladiza en los debates prácticos. Por un lado, estos argumentos suelen ejemplificar una forma d razonamiento imperfecto o paradójico. De hecho, la Filosofía clásica griega ya identificó las principales dificultades del sorites, el argumento del «montón». Por otro lado, la pendiente resbaladiza llama de nuevo la atención de la Filosofía contemporánea, ya que ocupa un lugar destacado en determinadas cuestiones morales, como pueden ser la eutanasia, los límites de la (...) investigación biomédica, o las posibles consecuencias de la intervención humana sobre el medio ambiente natural y sobe otras especies, no humanas. De esta forma, la Ética aplicada examina los riesgos y efecto son deseables de decisiones que, el comienzo, eran o parecían perfectamente aceptables, y lo hace así a pesar de que la metáfora de la pendiente resbaladiza no pueda aportar suficientes evidencias para frenar aquellas decisiones que comportan riesgos. Aun así, la pendiente sirve para expresar el peligro, la tragedia, los efectos negativos que amenazarían nuestra existencia, o la de las generaciones futuras. Por lo tanto, imágenes como la «caja de Pandora», la «ruptura de los diques», el «alud», no solo transmiten que algunas acciones pueden poner en riesgo la vida sino que, además, ilustran el uso práctico de los argumentos imperfectos.PALABRAS CLAVEpendiente resbaladiza, argumentación práctica, Ética aplicada.ABSTRACTThe article would analyze the role of the slippery-slope arguments in practical debates. On the one hand, they usually exemplify the imperfect, paradoxical reasoning; in fact, the ancient Greek Philosophy already identified the central flaws of the sorites, the «heap» argument. On the other hand, the metaphor of the slippery-slope draws again the attention of contemporary Philosophy, since it has a central part in some ethical issues, as happens with questions like euthanasia, the limits of biomedical research, and the possible consequences of the human action on the natural environment, and on non-humans. So, applied Ethics considers risks and undesirable effects of decisions that, at the very beginning, are, or seem acceptable, in spite of the fact that the slippery-slope could not allege enough evidences to prevent from this risky decision. However, it expresses how danger, tragedy, negative outcome would intrude in our existence, or in the existence of the next generations. Therefore, images like the «Pandora’s box», the «broken docks», the «avalanche», etc, not only suggest that some actions could definitively endanger life, but they illustrate the practical use of imperfect arguments.KEY WORDSslippery- slope, practical argumentation, applied Ethics. In this article the continuity between two types of late medieval and Renaissance narrative is approached, although they are separated by around 200 years and belong to different literary genres. The second part analyses the ethical principles that, (...) according to the Sem Tob Carrión's Proverbs, justified the formulation of a legal complaint against the monarch; and it analyses the degree of moral responsibility contracted by the characters of Lazarillo de Tormes in the genesis of the scandalous ethical case in which they are involved. In communities of user-generated content, systems for the management of content and/or their contributors are usually accepted without much protest. Not so, however, in the case of Wikipedia, in which the proposal to introduce a system of review for new edits (in order to counter vandalism) led to heated discussions. This debate is analysed, and arguments of both supporters and opponents (of English, German and French tongue) are extracted from Wikipedian archives. In order to better understand this division of the (...) minds, an analogy is drawn with theories of bureaucracy as developed for real-life organizations. From these it transpires that bureaucratic rules may be perceived as springing from either a control logic or an enabling logic. In Wikipedia, then, both perceptions were at work, depending on the underlying views of participants. Wikipedians either rejected the proposed scheme (because it is antithetical to their conception of Wikipedia as a community) or endorsed it (because it is consonant with their conception of Wikipedia as an organization with clearly defined boundaries). Are other open-content communities susceptible to the same kind of ‘essential contestation’? (shrink)

Despite the radical importance of embryology in the development of organi- cism, developmental biology remains philosophically underexplored as a theoretical and empirical resource to clarify the nature of organisms. This paper discusses how embryology can help develop the organisational definition of the organism as a differentiated, function- ally integrated, and autonomous system. I distinguish two conceptions of development in the organisational tradition that yield two different conceptions of the organism: the life- history view claims that organisms can be considered as (...) such during their whole ontogeny; the constitutive view distinguishes two periods in the life history, a period of generation and a period of self-maintenance of a constitutive organisation. Arguing in favour of the con- stitutive view, it will be claimed that the organisational criteria for the definition of organ- ism (i.e., differentiation, functional integration, and autonomy) can only be applied to the developmental system when it has entered the period of self-maintenance of a constitutive organisation. under the light of current research in developmental biology, it is possible to make explicit how organisms come to be as organisms. To this end, I explore key onto- genetic events that help us clarify the core aspects of animal organisation and allow us to identify the developmental stage that marks the ontological transition between an organism in potency and an organism in actuality. The structure of this ontogenetic unfolding paral- lels the conceptual structure of the very notion of organism; the generation of the being of a particular organism parallels its definition. SPANISH: Se analiza la revista Nosotros (1907-1943) en la década de 1930. Dentro de su variedad de temas, el eje de la investigación rastrea las contribuciones de autores nacionales que cuestionaron la propia identidad argentina. Dentro del período se estudian las opiniones que, como respuestas, aparecieron ante los artículos de Ortega y Gasset referidos "al hombre a la defensiva" y a "la pampa, promesas"; la discusión sobre el rol de los intelectuales; los interrogantes sobre una supuesta "nueva generación"; las tipologías (...) de un imaginario "ser argentino"; el vínculo entre arte y política, como la función del deporte. Igualmente el artículo recoge las reflexiones suscitadas por las diferentes encuestas lanzadas por la Revista; el suicidio de Lugones, y aquellos aspectos que nos acercan a miradas en busca de un sí mismos, donde los protagonistas se debatían en la encrucijada intelectual y política, tal como aparecieron en esta emblemática publicación. ENGLISH: This article analyses the Journal Nosotros (1907-1943) during the 1930's. The main focus of the research is to identify the contributions by national authors that questioned the Argentinean identity. In particular, this study explores the opinions that were published in response to articles from Ortega y Gasset about "el hombre a la defensiva" and "la pampa, promesas"; discussions on the role of intellectuals; inquiries about a supposed "new generation"; the typologies of an imaginary "Argentinean being"; the links between art and politics; and the role of sports. The article also discusses the ideas raised by different surveys launched by the Journal; the suicide of Lugones, and views on the search of the self, in which the protagonists debated the intellectual and political crossroads that were presented by Nosotros. A partir d’une enquête empirique auprès de « soixante-huitards », cet article revisite la question des générations politiques sous l’angle du genre. Le genre s’avère en effet essentiel pour appréhender les effets différenciés qu’ont pu avoir les événements de Mai-Juin 68 sur les trajectoires des enquêtés. En partant du constat que les femmes sont significativement plus nombreuses que leurs homologues masculins à revendiquer le sentiment d’appartenir à une « génération de 68 », l’article rend compte de l’influence (...) du genre sur les formes de politisation postérieures à Mai 68 et sur les incidences personnelles et quotidiennes (remise en cause des normes de genre dans la vie quotidienne) du militantisme en Mai 68. ABSTRACT In this research,1 we aim to analyze how misogyny establishes itself in an interaction on X (formerly Twitter) to legitimize hate speech, under the argument of opinion defense. Theoretically, in light of Interactional Sociolinguistics and Pragmatics, we conceive that impoliteness strategies contribute to the construction of linguistic-discursive violence scenarios in online-mediated interactions, as they both reduce interlocutive distance and generate sexist, misogynistic, patriarchal, and antifeminist metapragmatics. Methodologically, we adopted a qualitative approach to analyze an interaction on X based on (...) the inclusion and exclusion criteria proposed in this study, using the netnographic method. Analytically, we observed that interlocutors C, E, and F frequently used impoliteness strategies in constructing opinion-based discourses to attack feminism and legitimize hate speech. (shrink)

Quel peut être l’intérêt du care pour une histoire qui se situe à l’intersection des femmes, de l’assistance et du religieux? On se propose ici de réfléchir aux conditions d’importation d’un concept sur un terrain historique où le vocabulaire bien établi de la charité, de la philanthropie voire des vulnérabilités paraît difficile à concurrencer. Quasiment invisibilisé, le travail des religieuses est pourtant très présent dans les sociétés urbaines occidentales au xixe siècle. Ce travail subalterne bénéficie toutefois de compensations symboliques. Un (...) surinvestissement du travail émotionnel, à travers le langage de l’amour et la figure de la maternité, permet également de supporter la pénibilité du travail de care. Toutefois, les prémices de la professionnalisation dans les domaines scolaire, assistantiel et médical induisent d’autres logiques – de genre, de classe et de statut – qui viennent complexifier la description du travail de care. Within the Plotinian corpus the topic of audacity provides a key for explaining the hypostatic constitution of what proceeds from the One and advances towards the formation of the sensitive world. This essay will try to settle some questions about the role of audacity within the corpus of Plotinus. Doing so will allow us to argue for the following position. Even if the generation of a being separate and distinct from the One includes the notion of otherness and therefore of (...) multiplicity, this action—a product of the Intellect’s daring—does not imply dispersion but only the constitution of a living being able to develop by its own strength the richness already contained in its germinal potency. This paper aims to analyse a set of communicative events within the service encounter genre in tourism and leisure interdiscursive domains as displayed in course books on professional communication in English (commonly pointing to ESP). These supposedly replicate interaction in real life settings. Therefore, it is relevant to uncover the ways authentic interactions can be interpreted in the pedagogical setting of workplace conversation from a discursive and pragmatic perspective. More specifically, this empirical and exploratory study discusses ways of improving (...) rapport management skills in interpersonal and intercultural communication, in general, and in professional interaction, in particular, in a selection of excerpts on greeting / asking for info exchanges. The study uncovers participants’ possible co-constructions of civility and politeness strategies in naturally occurring classroom discourse supported by course materials in English for glocal communication across segments in the tourism domain as object of this study.
