Este trabajo, inédito hasta ahora, recoge la transcripción de un encuentro que tuvo el autor con profesores de Filosofía para presentar algunas ideas desarrolladas en su libro El interés por la verdad. De acuerdo con el planteamiento que hace Millán-Puelles, dicho interés es de dos tipos: cognoscitivo y comunicativo. En estas páginas aborda el primero de ellos, a saber, el interés por conocer la verdad, y concretamente, ciertos aspectos morales de dicho interés.

This article intends to describe the central themes of Millán-Puelles' thought. The fundamental intuitions of his youth remain over the course of his life and mark a line of creative and personal thinking between Phenomenology and classical philosophy, mainly Thomism. He elaborates a metaphysics of knowledge with a vigorous defence of spontaneous realism. His defence of the real leads him to grant special importance to the study of the unreal. The article focuses first of all on the peculiar kind of anthropology implicit in the thought of Millán-Puelles. In the second part it underlines the relevance of the distinction between nature and freedom in the political anthropology of the author, as well as the outstandig importance of the idea of liberty with its several significant nuances of meaning.

Husserl’s conception of ideal objects convinced some of his early disciples that he was presenting a new form of realism. This impression arises, in my view, from a twofold misunderstanding. First, there was a misunderstanding of the limits of the phenomenological claims of Logical Investigations and, second, an erroneous belief that ideal objects are interpreted in a realist fashion therein. The ultimate source of the first phenomenological schism is not, therefore, so much a reaction to an alleged sudden change in (...) Husserl’s position, but rather a misunderstanding of the concept of ideality presented in Logical Investigations. Further, an alleged “compatibility” between the realist conception of ideality and the Husserlian conception is to be found in one of the ways that Husserl addresses the problem of constitution. However, the Spanish philosopher Antonio Millán-Puelles has shown that the use of terms such as “constitutive activity” or “genesis”—in a realist metaphysics, to designate the arising of ideal objects—should not be interpreted in a psychologistic way, as though these objects remained absorbed by the reality of the mental processes they are made present by. A partir de los textos de Millán-Puelles (1921-2005), se expone su enseñanza sobre la muerte, que gira alrededor de la índole general de la vida, la estructura hilemórfica del ser humano y la inmortalidad del alma intelectiva. Al final se presenta la posición de Millán-Puelles en cuestiones éticas referidas a la muerte: suicidio, pena de muerte, etc.

En su Crítica de la Razón Pura, Kant discute dos doctrinas de origen aristotélico: la definición de la verdad como adaequatio intellectus et rei y la doctrina de los trascendentales, condensada en la fórmula quodlibet ens est unum, verum, bonum. El filósofo español Antonio Millán-Puelles ha llevado a cabo en dos de sus libros un examen del valor de esta discusión kantiana. El objetivo de este trabajo es comentar el análisis de Millán-Puelles y completar algunos de sus (...) puntos con objeto de mostrar su interés filosófico y su originalidad. (shrink)

The article offers a general philosophical portrait of Millán-Puelles' work, focusing on two fundamental topics, objectivity and freedom.

The paper focuses on Reinhardt Grossmann's analysis of the Argument from Physics, as well as the analysis by the Spanish philosopher Antonio Millán-Puelles, in an attempt to assess the validity of the Argument on the basis of their respective critical views. Both authors agree in perceptual realism and in the need to distinguish between the scope and object of Physics and the ordinary objects of natural perception. Their criticisms mainly concern the innappropiate use of the principle of reduction (...) in the Argument and the distinction between secondary and primary qualities, which is, according to Grossmann, one of the sources of idealism and phenomenalism. The 2016 Royal Society of Chemistry’s report Future of the Chemical Sciences presents four different scenarios for the future of chemistry: chemistry saves the world; push-button chemistry; a world without chemists; and free market chemistry. In this paper we ethically assess them. If chemistry is to solve many of the greatest challenges facing the contemporary world, prioritization of research topics will need to be done explicitly on the basis of moral values, ​​such as solidarity and equity, but also environmental justice, (...) which will have to be central in determining a research agenda for chemistry. The decentralization of chemistry will also present ethical challenges to the research standards established by the scientific community. Ethical education in chemistry may help counteract these risks. We also argue that if chemistry and its subdisciplines are to fulfil their goal of generating knowledge and helping us solve the great challenges of the contemporary world, then it is ethically imperative that scientists from different disciplines be more open to interdisciplinary work. Finally, if the future of chemistry is in free market forms, then it is necessary that we pay more attention to the possible risks that this model has. We call attention to two: first, it is likely that problems that affect the lowest income countries or the most disadvantaged sectors of society, who do not have the means to pay for some of the goods and services, will not be addressed; second, the free market tends to foster unsustainable forms of development. Sobre la doctrina de los transcendentales de Aquinas, 700 años después, se han proyectado fines muydistintos: el intento de refundar un nuevo estilo de hacer metafísica o filosofía primera, como propuso JanA. Aertsen; de ampliar un posible uso antropológico aún más compartido, como sugiere Leonardo Polo;de lograr una recomposición lógica de la articulación existente entre los conceptos metafísicos, comoahora propone Millán Puelles. A su vez en la conclusión se trata de justificar una posible complementariedadentre ellas.On the doctrine of the (...) «transcendentals» of Aquinas, —700 years later—, very different aims haveprojected: the attempt to «re-found» a new style to make metaphysics or first philosophy, as Jan A. Aertsenproposed; to extend a possible anthropological use still more shared, as it suggests Leonardo Polo; toobtain a logical resetting of the existing joint between the Metaphysical concepts, as now Millán Puelles proposes. This article attempts to present the human face of Antonio Millán-Puelles, as well as his philosophical contributions. Rafael Alvira, one of his closest disciples explains here Millán-Puelles philosophical thinking from within. It describes the philosophical path followed by Millán-Puelles for the sake of liberty, objectivity and philosophical realism.

In this article an attempt is made to bring out the presuppositions of the first formulation of ethical realism held by Antonio Millán-Puelles in his recently published work, La libre afirmación de nuestro ser. Una fundamentacíon de la ética realista. These presuppositions show that the central problem in moral philosophy, known as the "Is-Ought" question, is dealt with in a very positive way by pointing out the intrinsic relation that there is between human nature and human freedom.

Este artículo intenta mostrar que una teoría de la constitución de los objetos del conocimiento no conlleva necesariamente una teoría idealista del conocimiento. El punto de partida es, por un lado, la reconstrucción de los principales elementos de la teoría husserliana de la constitución y, por otro, el análisis de un argumento usado por Husserl en las Investigaciones lógicas a fi n de probar la existencia de objetos ideales. En este orden de cosas, Antonio Millán-Puelles ha mostrado la (...) posibilidad de una "génesis intencional" de los objetos en el sentido del surgimiento de éstos ante la conciencia. This paper tries to show that there is at least a sense in which one can defend the idea that the constitution of objectivity is compatible with metaphysical realism. The point of departure is, on the one hand, the reconstruction of the main elements of Husserl's theory of constitution and, on the other hand, the analysis of an argument used by this philosopher in Logical Investigations to prove the existence of ideal objects. El presente artículo analiza, en su primera parte, aspectos recurrentes de la personalidad del comisario Maigret, famoso personaje de ficción del novelista belga Simenon. A continuación se procura advertir dos aparentes aporías cognoscitivas que plantean esas recurrencias: – Por un lado, la resuelta negación de método por parte del comisario compaginada con un comportamiento indagatorio idiosincrásico; – Por otro lado, unos resultados policiacos sorprendentes a la par que se supone, durante el desarrollo de las investigaciones, una permanente suspensión del pensamiento.
