L’épreuve projective intitulée « spatiographie projective familiale » a pour objectif de comprendre l’image inconsciente du corps familial à travers l’analyse du dessin groupal de la « maison de rêve ». Par cette méthodologie, les auteurs peuvent établir un diagnostic de la structure des liens inconscients de la famille et en faire un objet médiateur pour la prise en charge psychothérapique et une épreuve projective groupale familiale pour le diagnostic. Le dessin de la « (...) maison de rêve » est un outil original qui investigue les dimensions diachronique et synchronique permettant une approche complète de la structuration de l’image du corps familial. C’est à travers la médiation projective de la libre réalisation de l’arbre généalogique que l’article (...) tentera d’explorer ces questions par une étude de cas. Dans l’espace intermédiaire de la rencontre, tout en respectant les aménagements défensifs du sujet, le travail de perlaboration se rend possible. L’article montre comment la dimension médiatrice et projective du dispositif se met au service du travail d’historicisation et de remémoration de l’histoire familiale et collective chez un descendant d’un survivant de la Shoah. Consolider les ressources non monétaires de ménages menacés d'exclusion, cela peut stimuler les solidarités familiales, communautaires et locales ; cela peut même contribuer à la vitalité de la sphère publique. Au rebours des présupposés économicistes qui inspirent les politiques de lutte contre l'exclusion, l'évaluation d'action expérimentales de développement social par l'autoproduction montre qu'il peut y avoir complémentarité et non opposition entre ressources monétaires et ressources non-monétaires. L'exemple des chantiers d'autoréhabilitation du logement montre qu'à certaines conditions la consolidation de la sphère (...) privée ne favorise pas la ghettoïsation communautaire mais permet une initiation à la sphère publique.When households threatened by social exclusion are able to strengthen their non-monetary resources, by doing so they can promote solidarity on family, community and local levels. Such exchanges can even have positive repercussions for an increasingly vibrant public sphere. Contrary to certain economical models that inspire policies aimed at fighting social exclusion, the evaluation of experimental projects in social action through self-help shows that monetary and non-monetary resources can co-exist in complementary fashion. An example of home improvement programmes underlines that under certain conditions promoting initiatives in the private sphere does not necessarily lead to the creation of ghettos and can in fact lead to the development of public funded initiatives. Selon différentes conceptions du genre et des parcours de transition, toujours singulières mais empreintes d’attentes sociales, l’enveloppe corporelle du sujet transgenre se métamorphose. Lors d’entretiens de recherche et d’épreuves projectives (Rorschach et tat ), deux jeunes adultes transgenres aux profils psychopathologiques névrotiques présentaient une sensibilité marquée aux normes, à la morale et aux attentes sociétales. La légitimité, la culpabilité et la honte étaient des problématiques redondantes. Différents temps de transitions subjectives, familiales, sociales et corporelles se sont trouvés en jeu : (...) le passage à l’âge adulte, une vie étudiante hors du giron familial. Ces deux situations illustrent une discussion sur les transitions du corps et des enveloppes chez des sujets transgenres, entre seconde peau et moi-peau corsets. (shrink)

L’article s’intéresse aux hommes et aux femmes passés dans l’histoire à l’ombre de la figure « hermaphrodite ». Pour ce faire, il s’intéresse à eux dans le cadre familial, en cessant de les réduire à leurs particularités corporelles et génitales pour les replacer dans une perspective sociale. L’état hermaphrodite permet en effet d’interroger doublement la famille : d’une part parce qu’il brouille le jeu des projections identitaires habituellement à l’œuvre entre parents et enfants et entre membres de la fratrie, de (...) l’autre parce qu’il pose le problème majeur de l’infécondité et du mariage aussi bien pour celui ou celle qui en est victime que pour la cellule familiale dans son ensemble. L’extrême diversité des relations et des affects intrafamiliaux rencontrés rappelle que si l’hermaphrodisme a été puissamment structuré au xixe siècle en catégorie médicale, il ne peut être opérant en catégorie sociale. This paper is a discussion of Michael Thau's interesting critique in Chapter 2 of Consciousness and Cognition, Oxford: Oxford University Press, 2002, of the common view that beliefs are internal states.

In this paper we show that some orthogeometries, i.e. projective geometries each defined using a ternary collinearity relation and equipped with a binary orthogonality relation, which are extensively studied in mathematics and quantum theory, correspond to Kripke frames, each defined using a binary relation, satisfying a few conditions. To be precise, we will define four special kinds of Kripke frames, namely, geometric frames, irreducible geometric frames, complete geometric frames and quantum Kripke frames; and we will show that they correspond (...) to pure orthogeometries, irreducible pure orthogeometries, Hilbertian geometries and irreducible Hilbertian geometries, respectively. The discovery of these correspondences raises interesting research topics and will enrich the study of logic. (shrink)

This paper addresses an article by Felix Klein of 1886, in which he generalized his theory of polynomial equations of degree 5—comprehensively discussed in his Lectures on the Icosahedron two years earlier—to equations of degree 6 and 7. To do so, Klein used results previously established in line geometry. I review Klein’s 1886 article, its diverse mathematical background, and its place within the broader history of mathematics. I argue that the program advanced by this article, although historically overlooked due to (...) its eventual failure, offers a valuable insight into a time of crucial evolution of the subject. We characterize all finitary consequence relations over S4.3, both syntactically, by exhibiting so-called passive rules that extend the given logic, and semantically, by providing suitable strongly adequate classes of algebras. This is achieved by applying an earlier result stating that a modal logic L extending S4 has projective unification if and only if L contains S4.3. In particular, we show that these consequence relations enjoy the strong finite model property, and are finitely based. In this way, we extend the (...) known results by Bull and Fine, from logics, to consequence relations. We also show that the lattice of consequence relations over S4.3 is countable and distributive and it forms a Heyting algebra. (shrink)

The axioms of projective and affine plane geometry are turned into rules of proof by which formal derivations are constructed. The rules act only on atomic formulas. It is shown that proof search for the derivability of atomic cases from atomic assumptions by these rules terminates . This decision method is based on the central result of the combinatorial analysis of derivations by the geometric rules: The geometric objects that occur in derivations by the rules can be restricted to (...) those known from the assumptions and cases. This “subterm property” is proved by permuting suitably the order of application of the geometric rules. As an example of the decision method, it is shown that there cannot exist a derivation of Euclid’s fifth postulate if the rule that corresponds to the uniqueness of the parallel line construction is taken away from the system of plane affine geometry. I argue that our experience of expressive properties (such as the joyfulness or sadness of a piece of music) essentially involves the sensuous imagination (through simulation) of an emotion-guided process which would result in the production of the properties which constitute the realisation of the expressive properties experienced. I compare this proposal with arousal theories, Wollheim’s Freudian account, and other more closely related theories appealing to imagination such as Kendall Walton’s. I explain why the proposal is most naturally developed in (...) terms of simulation and briefly comment upon the impact of work on cross-cultural perception of facial expression, modularity and autism for the proposal. Oriundo do labor intelectual de um dos maiores pensadores ibéricos, o filósofo espanhol José Ortega y Gasset, existe nesta figura da cultura de princípios do século XX, uma interessantíssima reflexão projectiva, em consonância com o pensamento pessimista de Oswald Spengler. O que neles existe de comum, é a necessidade existencial em decifrar os sinais dos tempos, da época em (...) que vivemos. Isto faz Ortega recuperar temáticas filosófico-sociológicas como a vida, a massificação, o hedonismo e o niilismo. Estas serão utilizadas por Gilles Lipovetsky para fundamentar o novo paradigma da hipermodernidade, baseado no capitalismo artista. ABSTRACT This article aims to establish a philosophical and cultural understanding of the most representative ideas of contemporary feeling and existence. In the works of the spanish philosopher José Ortega y Gasset, which is one prominent Iberian thinker, there exists a very interesting projective reflection of the figure of culture in the twentieth century, in consonance with Oswald Spengler's pessimistic thought. What they both have in common is the existential need to decipher the signs of the times we live in. Because of this, Ortega recovers common philosophical and sociogical topics such as life, massification, hedonism, and nihilism, which Gilles Lipovetsky uses in order to ground the new paradigm of hypermodernity based on artistic capitalism. The Desarguesian nature of angular-momentum theory is illustrated by drawing correspondences between relations satisfied by then-j symbols and various collinearity properties of the appropriate diagrams. No examples of Pappus' theorem have been found. A relation is suggested between the operations of angular-momentum theory and Hilbert's constructions for the addition and multiplication of points on a line.

If the bounded proper forcing axiom BPFA holds and ω 1 = ${\mathrm{\omega }}_{1}^{\mathrm{L}}$ , then there is a lightface ${\mathrm{\Sigma }}_{3}^{1}$ well-ordering of the reals. The argument combines a well-ordering due to Caicedo-Veličković with an absoluteness result for models of MA in the spirit of "David's trick." We also present a general coding scheme that allows us to show that BPFA is equiconsistent with R being lightface ${\mathrm{\Sigma }}_{4}^{1}$ , for many "consistently locally certified" relations R on $\mathrm{\mathbb{R}}$ . We determine the consistency strength of determinacy for projective games of length ω^2. Our main theorem is that $\Pi _{n + 1}^1$-determinacy for games of length ω^2 implies the existence of a model of set theory with ω + n Woodin cardinals. In a first step, we show that this hypothesis implies that there is a countable set of reals A such that M_n(A), the canonical inner model for n Woodin cardinals constructed over A, satisfies $A = R$ and (...) the Axiom of Determinacy. Then we argue how to obtain a model with ω + n Woodin cardinal from this. We also show how the proof can be adapted to investigate the consistency strength of determinacy for games of length ω^2 with payoff in $R^R\Pi _1^1$ or with σ-projective payoff. (shrink)

In recent years, several scholars have been investigating Frege’s mathematical background, especially in geometry, in order to put his general views on mathematics and logic into proper perspective. In this article I want to continue this line of research and study Frege’s views on geometry in their own right by focussing on his views on a field which occupied center stage in nineteenth century geometry, namely, projective geometry.

We show that Σ1 4-Amoeba-absoluteness implies that $\forall a \in \mathbb{R}(\omega^{L\lbrack a \rbrack}_1 < \omega^V_1)$ and, hence, Σ1 3-measurability. This answers a question of Haim Judah (private communication).

In the middle part of his Brouillon Project on conics, Girard Desargues develops the theory of the traversale, a notion that generalizes the Apollonian diameter and allows to give a unified treatment of the three kinds of conics. We showed elsewhere that it leads Desargues to a complete theory of projective polarity for conics. The present article, which shall close our study of the Brouillon Project, is devoted to the last part of the text, in which Desargues puts his (...) theory of the traversal into practice by giving a very elegant tratment of the classical theory of parameters and foci. This will lead us to show that Desargues’ proofs can only be understood if one accepts that he reasons in a resolutely projective framework, completely assimilating elements at infinity to those at finite distance in his proofs. We prove that the least σ-algebra containing the projective sets and closed under projections is exactly the collection of hyperprojective sets which, with their complements, can be inductively defined with real parameters by an induction of countable length. This provides a construction principle for this natural class of hyperprojective sets.

Ken Pledger devised a one-sorted approach to the incidence relation of plane geometries, using structures that also support models of propositional modal logic. He introduced a modal system 12g that is valid in one-sorted projective planes, proved that it has finitely many non-equivalent modalities, and identified all possible modality patterns of its extensions. One of these extensions 8f is valid in elliptic planes. These results were presented in his 1980 doctoral dissertation, which is reprinted in this issue of the (...) Australasian Journal of Logic. Here we show that 12g and 8f are strongly complete for validity in their intended one-sorted geometrical interpretations, and have the finite model property. The proofs apply standard technology of modal logic together with a step-by-step procedure introduced by Yde Venema for constructing two-sorted projective planes. (shrink)

IV. SummaryIn the history of Psychology the theoretical fate of the individual and the attendant norms for interpreting his behavior have evolved in an idiodynamic direction. The essential postulates of the idiodynamic approach are response dominance, configuration dominance, and idioverse dominance. Personality theory of this type is fundamental to any compelling conceptualization of the projective techniques but can not be used in isolation from the relevant aspects of the general‐experimental and psychometric points of view. In thus integrating personality theory (...) with the newer methods of psychodiagnosis, the traditional concepts and methods of test construction and standardization, notably reliability and validity, must be recast.
