Title On the Problem of Mind-Homogeneity in the Chapter ‘Fusui-Zidi-Duolai’ of Mengzi Focus on the Compendium of Collected Commentaries on the Mencious. 신예진 - 2023 - Journal of the New Korean Philosophical Association 112:155-173.

  11. The Title Principle (Or Lack Thereof) in the Enquiry.Hsueh Qu - 2016 - History of Philosophy Quarterly 33 (3):257-274.
The Title Principle is seen by a number of commentators as crucial to Hume’s resolution of skeptical doubts in THN 1.4.7, thus providing an answer to Kemp Smith’s (1941) famous worry regarding the tension between Hume’s skepticism and his naturalism. However, I will argue that in the Enquiry, Hume rejects both the Title Principle and the role of the passions in his epistemology. Those who think that neither the Title Principle nor the passions play a significant role in THN 1.4.7 (...)

Title IX, Sexual Harassment, and Academic Freedom: What No One Seems to Understand.Richard Hanley - 2015 - Aaup Journal of Academic Freedom 6:1-8.
Universities and colleges all over the United States are currently revising and implementing policies concerning sexual harassment and sexual misconduct, under the generally expressed concern to comply with Title IX requirements. But there is a very basic problem of equivocation. Both “sexual harassment” and “sexual misconduct” are used in very different ways in different contexts, often by the same entity. The result is a mess in which members of campus communities cannot be sure of their obligations or protections, and which (...)

Titles of mass media interview in aspect of linguistic pragmatics.N. V. Bychkovskaya - 2016 - Liberal Arts in Russia 5 (1):58.
Titles of modern interviews are studied on the material of German mass media texts. Leading syntactic structures, communicative signs and pragmatical aspects of titles are analyzed. The most attention is paid to titles in form of questions or exclamation, which have the strongest communicative pragmatical effect. Exclamation and questions in the position of titles lose value of incentive and interrogative, incentive or interrogative remain only formally, which makes them quasi-incentive and quasi-interrogative. Exclamation and question functions go (...)

Titles and Semantic Violations Affect Eye Movements When Viewing Contemporary Paintings.Joanna Ganczarek, Karolina Pietras, Anna Stolińska & Magdalena Szubielska - 2022 - Frontiers in Human Neuroscience 16.
The role of titles in perception of visual art is a topic of interesting discussions that brings together artists, curators, and researchers. Titles provide contextual cues and guide perception. They can be particularly useful when paintings include semantic violations that make them challenging for viewers, especially viewers lacking expert knowledge. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of titles and semantic violations on eye movements. A total of 127 participants without expertise in visual art (...)

The professor insisted that the title is necessary to understand the piece. As a diligent student, the lesson (...)

This volume presents the most recent research on Title I federal compensatory education programs. Over the past three decades, Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act has served as the cornerstone of the federal commitment to equality of opportunity. It is the federal government's single largest investment in America's schools. As Title I begins a new century, this book documents the program's history and points to the potential for its future, building on 35 years of research, development, and (...)

The Title of the Letter: A Reading of Lacan.Jean-Luc Nancy & Philippe Lacoue-Labarthe - 1992 - State University of New York Press.
This book is a close reading of Jacques Lacan's seminal essay, "The Agency of the Letter in the Unconscious or Reason Since Freud," selected for the particular light it casts on Lacan's complex relation to linguistics, psychoanalysis, and philosophy. It clarifies the way Lacan renews or transforms the psychoanalytic field, through his diversion of Saussure's theory of the sign, his radicalization of Freud's fundamental concepts, and his subversion of dominant philosophical values. The authors argue, however, that Lacan's discourse is marked (...)

Title IX: Beyond equal protection.David S. Cohen - manuscript
The relationship between Title IX and the Equal Protection Clause is relevant to many areas of sex discrimination law. However, most courts that have addressed cases raising both provisions as well as scholars analyzing them have not developed or understood the relationship between the two. This Article does just that and develops the theory that Title IX has broader protections from sex discrimination than the Equal Protection Clause. To reach the conclusion that Title IX offers more protection, this Article proceeds (...)

This symposium is inspired by the round tables organised by James Elkins in Cork, Ireland and Chicago which aimed to create a dialogue between art historians and philosophers on concepts which are central to the way both disciplines conduct their respective endeavours. For our symposium, art historians and philosophers will discuss topics and concepts which are likely to be given different interpretations by the respective disciplines. We will attempt to bridge the gap between the respective interpretations by inviting a closer (...)
