A Literary Genre Unknown Sufficiently in the Turkish Literature: Rūznāme and An Example.Alim Yildiz - 2016 - Cumhuriyet İlahiyat Dergisi 20 (1):429-444.
The word of rūznāme means diary in the Persian language. In the historical records it refers to special diaries written by the secret clerks of Ottoman sultans. Apart from that there are various different types of rūznāmes. In some rūznāmes were described repetitious behaviors that they are a suitable or an unsuitable for each day of the week or month. This article aims to investigate a manuscript named “The Book of Rūznāme” contains suitable and unsuitable behaviors for each day of (...)

Literary genres and judgements of taste: some remarks on Aristotle's remarks about the poetry of Empedocles.Catherine Rowett - 2013 - In Erler Michael (ed.), Argument Und Literarische Form in Antiker Philosophie. De Gruyter. pp. 305-314.
In this paper I review four texts in which Aristotle comments on Empedocles ' writing style. I show that Aristotle thought that Empedocles was a fine poet. That is fine, if a poet is what you want.

Twitterature: A New Digital Literary Genre.Shuchi Agrawal - forthcoming - Evolutionary Studies in Imaginative Culture:73-80.
In the history of literary experimentation, the writer has evolved into a social medium for literary readings of numerous literary works that were previously only known to those with a keen interest in literature and literary genres. As a result, many well-known literary works have been succinctly summarised in front of everyone in a way that is both helpful and provides details while still remaining concise. In this essay, the researcher wants to show how (...)

Identifying the Literary Genre of the De reductione artium ad theologiam: Bonaventure's Inaugural Lecture at Paris.Joshua C. Benson - 2009 - Franciscan Studies 67:149-178.
In lieu of an abstract, here is a brief excerpt of the content:IntroductionIn 1974 at a gathering celebrating the seventh centenary of Bonaventure's death, Ignatius Brady reviewed the Quaracchi edition of Bonaventure's works. He noted various problems with the edition and considered the authenticity of a number of works discovered since the edition's completion in 1902. He argued against the attribution of all the texts then newly ascribed to Bonaventure, but pointed forward to texts that might still be looked for, (...)

The concept of literary genre.Olsen Stein Haugom - 2018 - Metodo. International Studies in Phenomenology and Philosophy 6 (1):41-71.
Genre theory, as it has developed in the last forty years, has made use of what I call a constitutive concept of genre, a concept that has built into it the assumption that genre plays a central epistemic role in the interpretation of verbal discourse. In this paper I argue that there are theoretical problems with such a concept that have not been recognized and that make it unsuitable as a critical instrument in literary history and literary studies. (...)

From Speech Acts to Literary Genres: Toward a Factual and Fictional Discourses Typology.Simon Fournier - 2018 - Dialogue 57 (4):877-894.

  19. The distinction between the Gothic as a genre and the Horror as a separate Literary genre.Subhasis Chattopadhyay - manuscript
The value of this essay is not to reiterate the extant views on horror literature, but to make available for the first time to the world at large the textual foundations of considering horror literature as a genre by itself. The Gothic is a different genre altogether though most of us want to conflate and confuse between these two genres. Someday I shall write at length about the nature of the horrific. Suffice to say for now that the focus (...)

On Variations of the Classical Chinese Literary Genre terminchinesescript (Fu) in Literary History.Peina Zhuang & Jie Zhang - 2022 - Cultura 19 (2):131-145.
In "On Variations of the Classical Chinese Literary Genre terminchinesescript in Literary History," the authors analyze the representation of the classical Chinese literary genre Fu, or namely, rhapsode, in Chinese literary histories compiled in English. A unique classical literary genre, Fu commonly appears in classical Chinese literature as well as in aesthetics and philosophy, thus constituting an important part in Chinese literature in all periods from ancient to contemporary. However, Fu falls outside the quartered-division of (...)

Science across the Meiji divide: Vernacular literary genres as vectors of science in modern Japan.Ruselle Meade - forthcoming - History of Science.
Histories of Japanese science have been integral in affirming the Meiji Restoration of 1868 as the starting point of modern Japan. Vernacular genres, characterized as “premodern,” have therefore largely been overlooked by historians of science, regardless of when they were published. Paradoxically, this has resulted in the marginalization of the very works through which most people encountered science. This article addresses this oversight and its historiographical ramifications by focusing on kyūri books – popular works of science – published in (...)

The subject of this study is Poetry in Arabs: Cultural Characteristics and Financial Supporters of the Ancient Literary Genre. The problem of this study is to question whether poetry can be evaluated from a cultural point of view in Arabs and a cute lifestyle, aesthetic, symbolic and semantic dimension. In this article, not only Arabic poetry is evaluated in terms of culture; the cultural dynamics that enable the development of poetry are also emphasized. There have been great developments in (...)

Metamorphoses of Science Fiction: On the Poetics and History of a Literary Genre by Darko Suvin, and: Dystopia, Science Fiction, Post-apocalypse: Classics—New Tendencies—Model Interpretations ed. by Eckart Voigts, Alessandra Boller.Andrew Milner - 2018 - Utopian Studies 29 (3):421-429.
Darko Suvin’s Metamorphoses of Science Fiction, first published by Yale University Press in 1979, has been the single most influential work in the history of academic science-fiction studies. As Veronica Hollinger observed: “Metamorphoses is the significant forerunner of all the major examinations of the genre”. Mark Bould and Sherryl Vint make more or less the same point: “Disagreeing with him [Suvin] is a considerable part of SF scholarship—he... set... the terms by which SF has subsequently been studied”. Perhaps not quite (...)

A diagnosis or name such as chronic fatigue syndrome can be a relief for its sufferers, as is expressed by one of the patients in the article: (...)
