O texto apresenta elementos textuais dos escritos do jovem Marx, onde se encontra um núcleo conceitual que trata da problemática relação entre filosofia e mundo. Aspectos teóricos presentes já nos primeiros escritos do filósofo onde fica clara a exigência de promover a interação entre pensamento e realidade, ou seja, tratar da tradição filosófica sem descuidar do trato de temas e dilemas do contexto. Assim, o texto apresenta referências da posição filosófica pela qual Marx faz frente ao caráter especulativo da filosofia (...) alemã, para propor, já na revisão da filosofia política de Hegel, que a crítica do céu se transforme em crítica da Terra. O que singulariza um pensamento dessa natureza é a capacidade emancipatória da filosofia. No lugar da mera contemplação, Marx propõe a possibilidade de realizar a filosofia no mundo. Este artigo tem como objetivo compreender as transformações societárias oriundas da sociedade de consumo e como o mundo se aglutina por meio dos avanços tecnológicos, da homogeneização da cultura baseada no consumo de massa e dos processos de verticalização provenientes dos que consomem e dos que não podem, mas querem consumir. Num segundo momento, tem como propósito analisar os diferentes padrões de consumo vivenciados no Extremo Oeste de Santa Catarina, a partir da implantação da agroindústria na região, na década de (...) 70 (séc. XX). Processos tecnobiológicos implantaram um meio artificial de produtividade, consumo, rapidez e fluidez. O mundo técnico-científico rompeu com o homem natural e sua sabedoria. Restou a obediência às regras da racionalidade e a adaptação ao mercado global. Ele exige a adequação ao proposto. Os mecanismos econômicos e tecnológicos de produção e do consumo local tornaram-se tão complexos e, em alguns aspectos, tão vulneráveis, que perturbações num só ponto da cadeia de interdependência global desarticulam toda uma rede de conexões, afetando, consequentemente, todo o tecido social da região. Hilden and Gammelgaard's comments on the evaluation and application of statistical trials and on informed consent lead to the same conclusion that there are special circumstances when clinical trials are performed in emergency situations.The decision to comment on the work that H&G responded to was motivated by the wish to manifest the need to reach a consensus on modifying the conditions in which clinical trials should be performed in special circumstances.One unquestionable fact must first be addressed: clinical trials are necessary (...) for acquiring new knowledge and consequent improvements in health care services. At the same time, patient participation should be encouraged under conditions that respect patients' decision making capability.Are these conditions being met at present? The problem of non-compliance with treatment and its repercussions on the clinical evolution of different conditions has been widely investigated.1–4 Non-compliance has also been shown to have significant economic implications, not only as a result of product loss but also indirectly through the complication of disease management and its subsequent healthcare and social costs.5–7Non-compliance as a health problemThe term “non-compliance” might be taken to refer both to the failure to follow a drug regimen and to the failure to adopt other (...) measures that contribute to improvement in health—for example, changes in lifestyle or diet. This letter focuses on the former.Non-compliance with a drug regimen can be the result of a number of different factors9–11 and a variety of techniques have been developed in an attempt to control it.12,13 Of these, the few techniques that have been shown to be effective have only managed to solve the problem in specific situations over short periods of time. Advances in medicine are closely linked to clinical research, but certain study procedures may be in conflict with the fundamental principles of ethics and codes of conduct in medicine. Following an analysis of two studies involving treatments for acute myocardial infarction (AMI), the admissibility of continuing a study was questioned after the initial results for two types of treatment showed that one was significantly better than the other. As governments around the world imposed lockdowns or stay-at-home measures, people began to feel the stress as time dragged on. There were already reports on some individuals committing suicide. How do governments respond to such a phenomenon? Our main focus is the Philippine government and how it responded to the COVID-19 pandemic. In this paper, we argue that the problem with COVID-19 went forth just dealing with physical health. First, people suffer not just from being infected but the psychological stress (...) of possibly getting the virus and the toll of the government lockdown or quarantine. Second, the Philippine Bayanihan ‘We Heal As One Act’ lacks focus on mental health issues while the government's response seemed to focus on security issues. Third, there are countries around the world that have acted effectively in protecting people’s mental health. Lastly, we propose appropriate measures to help address the people's mental health while still in the pandemic and for a future one. (shrink)

In this paper we prove the equivalence between the Gentzen system G LJ*\c , obtained by deleting the contraction rule from the sequent calculus LJ* (which is a redundant version of LJ), the deductive system IPC*\c and the equational system associated with the variety RL of residuated lattices. This means that the variety RL is the equivalent algebraic semantics for both systems G LJ*\c in the sense of [18] and [4], respectively. The equivalence between G LJ*\c and IPC*\c is a (...) strengthening of a result obtained by H. Ono and Y. Komori [14, Corollary 2.8.1] and the equivalence between G LJ*\c and the equational system associated with the variety RL of residuated lattices is a strengthening of a result obtained by P.M. Idziak [13, Theorem 1].An axiomatization of the restriction of IPC*\c to the formulas whose main connective is the implication connective is obtained by using an interpretation of G LJ*\c in IPC*\c. In this paper we obtain a finite Hilbert-style axiomatization of the implicationless fragment of the intuitionistic propositional calculus. As a consequence we obtain finite axiomatizations of all structural closure operators on the algebra of {–}-formulas containing this fragment.

Social justice is put forth as a core professional nursing value, although conceptualizations within foundational documents and among nurse educators remain inconsistent and contradictory. The purpose of this study was to explore how faculty teach social justice in theory courses in Baccalaureate programs. This qualitative study utilized constructivist grounded theory methods to examine processes informing participants' teaching. Participants utilize four overarching approaches: fostering engaging classroom climates, utilizing various naming strategies, framing diversity and culture as social justice, and role modeling a (...) critical stance. They deploy specific strategies, varying largely by race, educational background, and nursing specialty. A background in social sciences supports pedagogy that interrogates health inequities rather than merely raising awareness about disparities. Findings also reveal that faculty of color navigate institutional structures predicated upon colorblind racism and problematic views of culture, which many white faculty teaching non‐Community Health Nursing courses described doing. To enact social justice and be answerable to our communities, concerted anti‐oppression efforts are needed across education, research, practice, and policy. This includes sustained commitment to address colonialism and whiteness in every institution that defines, promotes, and claims to advance nursing so that we can fulfill our responsibility to address unjust systems and structures to serve our communities. This paper focuses on the 1986 Amendments to the False Claims Act of 1863, which offers whistle-blowers financial rewards for disclosing fraud committed against the U.S. government. This law provides an opportunity to examine underlying assumptions about the morality of whistle-blowing and to consider the merits of increased reliance on whistle-blowing to protect the public interest. The law seems open to a number of moral objections, most notably that it exerts a morally corrupting influence on whistle-blowers. We answer these objections (...) and argue that the law is not objectionable on these grounds. Since there are no compelling moral objections to the law, it is appropriate and acceptable to judge the law in terms of its economic costs and benefits. We assess the most salient of these and conclude that the benefits outweigh the costs. We suggest that a mechanism similar to the Act should be considered for protecting stockholders’ interests in the private sector. We conclude by making several proposals for improving the existing legislation. (shrink)

El problema que Bradwardine ha de afrontar como central en su antropología,consiste en mostrar hasta qué punto es libre el hombre, y qué implica esa libertad humana. Esta es la cuestión fundamental y sobre ella gravita todo lo que el Doctor profirndus piensa acerca de Dios. Pero para afrontarla con rigor, si bien Tomás Bradwardine no lo indica específicamente en su obra, es convenientehacer ver que el problema afecta a dos órdenes diferentes, tanto de la realidad como del estudio de (...) la misma. Uno de estos órdenes, e natural, se refiere al hombre en cuanto criatura, capaz, como se verá, de elegir libremente, y, por tanto, no sometida a la necesidad de un modo determinante, así como a la cooperación general de las causas primera y segundas en todo obrar en cuanto tal. Es en este orden donde Bradwardine habrá de intentar hacer compatibles los atributos divinos y la libertad de elección humana, el libre albedrío. Porsu parte, los problemas planteados en el orden sobrenatural, el orden de la gracia, pertenecen a la teología revelada. Se abordan cuestiones como la de si el hombre es capaz de hacer el bien y liberarse del pecado por sí mismo, sin el auxilio de la gracia, si puede salvarse por sus propias fuerzas, si está en sus manos el initumfidei... Bradwardine afrontará el problema de la libertad, eje de su antropología, en relación a ambos órdenes, pues reivindicar al hombre como ser completo equivale a reivindicarlo como libre, se pone en juego su verdadera humanidad. In this paper we study the relations between the fragment L of classical logic having just conjunction and disjunction and the variety D of distributive lattices, within the context of Algebraic Logic. We prove that these relations cannot be fully expressed either with the tools of Blok and Pigozzi's theory of algebraizable logics or with the use of reduced matrices for L. However, these relations can be naturally formulated when we introduce a new notion of model of a sequent calculus. (...) When applied to a certain natural calculus for L, the resulting models are equivalent to a class of abstract logics (in the sense of Brown and Suszko) which we call distributive. Among other results, we prove that D is exactly the class of the algebraic reducts of the reduced models of L, that there is an embedding of the theories of L into the theories of the equational consequence (in the sense of Blok and Pigozzi) relative to D, and that for any algebra A of type (2,2) there is an isomorphism between the D-congruences of A and the models of L over A. In the second part of this paper (which will be published separately) we will also apply some results to give proofs with a logical flavour for several new or well-known lattice-theoretical properties. ABOUT THE BOOK:A new systematization of the main philosophical tenets of Hinayana Buddhism as derived from the Four Noble Truths. The work is divided in three parts: (1) Suffering and the Nature of Existence; (2) Origin of Suffering and the Notion.
