Only if we succeed, with regard to past, present, and future, in making the talk of God’s special action in history plausible, are we able to reasonably assert essential Christian beliefs. Yet due to past horrors, present ongoing suffering, and a future that promises of little else, it is precisely this talk that has become doubtful. Der Band verdeutlicht Umbrüche der Transformationsphase in der politischen Theorie. In einigen Bereichen, etwa der Modernisierungs-, der Demokratietheorie oder der Theorie des Systemwechsels, ist der Einfluß konkreter Ereignisse wie der von 1989, beträchtlich. Das gilt auch für neuere Entwicklungen der internationalen Politik. In anderen Bereichen, wie den Theorien des Feminismus, der neuen sozialen Bewegungen, der Theorien von citizenchip und Legitimationstheorien scheint der Zusammenhang schwächer zu sein, hier wirkte eher der Niedergang des Marxismus in den 80er Jahren als der Zusammenbruch des (...) realen Sozialismus 1989 auf den Wandel der Theorien. Dennoch zeigen sich auch hier bedeutende Einflüsse des Wandels zu post-sozialistischen Gesellschaften. Inspite of the great success in many disciplines the program of reductionism has failed its genuine purpose. Systemtheory however has yielded a new concept of reductionism which we call reductionism by correspondence and which may imply a new understanding of the mind-body problem. The crucial operations of reductionism by correspondence are called idealization, interpretation and classification. They are used to optimize the description of a system. Nevertheless they lead to certain deficiencies which cannot be avoided in principle. We are therefore (...) driven to the assumption that natural systems can only be described as probabilistic systems. From this point of view nothing is said about the direction of the reduction. In 'De motu' wird eine umfassende biologische Theorie des (...) animalischen und menschlichen Handelns formuliert, die handlungstheoretischen und physiologischen Fragen gleichermaßen gerecht zu werden sucht. Auch äußert Aristoteles sich darin erstmals zum berühmten ›angeborenen Pneuma‹, in dem er eine vermittelnde Instanz in der Bewegungsübertragung sieht. Diese Ausgabe bietet die Schrift, die seit der Edition von Martha Nussbaum (1978) in den Blickpunkt der Forschung geraten ist, in einer Neuedition des griechischen Originaltextes von Oliver Primavesi und in einer neuen deutschen Übersetzung und Erläuterung von Klaus Corcilius. Author of a short study on Franz von Baader Klaus, Hemmerle presents us now with a longer study on the last philosophy of Schelling. The book sets out to be an exercise in Mitdenken. Instead of accumulating footnotes and going through the usual painstaking ways of a scholarly exegesis of texts, Hemmerle tries to think with Schelling, along the lines of Schelling's thought; and he does this a rather original way. Motivated by a genuine enthusiasm for Schelling, (...) Hemmerle paraphrases and comments on the difficult notions of the so-often enigmatic Spätphilosophie in a freely flowing, dynamic and truly suggestive language. He manages to keep the abstractions fascinating and the difficult arguments attractive. Yet in his admiration for his chosen author he becomes somewhat less than critical, expounding the most questionable constructs of the old Schelling as self-evident products of human thinking; and he does all this without any attempt at situating the teacher of the negative and positive philosophies in the general framework of the history of philosophy--or even in that of his own previous systems. The central theme of the book is God, the God to whom philosophy cannot reach out by itself but who descends to the philosophical thinking. How this God still remains a God for philosophy is the central problem of the late Schelling. Visibly inspired by the provocative studies of W.
