Strong 0-1 laws in finite model theory.Wafik Boulos Lotfallah - 2000 - Journal of Symbolic Logic 65 (4):1686-1704.
We introduce a new framework for asymptotic probabilities of sentences, in which we have a σ-additive measure on the sample space of all sequences A = {A n } of finite models, where the universe of A n is {1,2... n}, and use this framework to strengthen 0-1 laws for logics.

We discuss resource-bounded measures on the class of recursive structures and prove that with respect to such measures a random recursive structure is almost surely isomorphic to the unique countable model of the extension axioms.

  8. Counterexamples of the 0-1 law for fragments of existential second-order logic: An overview.Jean-Marie le Bars - 2000 - Bulletin of Symbolic Logic 6 (1):67-82.
We propose an original use of techniques from random graph theory to find a Monadic ∑ 1 1 sentence without an asymptotic probability. Our result implies that the 0-1 law fails for the logics ∑ 1 1 and ∑ 1 1 . Therefore we complete the classification of first-order prefix classes with or without equality, according to the existence of the 0-1 law for the corresponding ∑ 1 1 fragment. In addition, our counterexample can be viewed as a single explanation (...)

Fix an integer $r \ge 3$. We consider metric spaces on n points such that the distance between any two points lies in $\left\{ {1, \ldots,r} \right\}$. Our main result describes their approximate structure for large n. As a consequence, we show that the number of these metric spaces is $\left\lceil {{{r + 1} \over 2}} \right\rceil ^{\left + o\left}.$Related results in the continuous setting have recently been proved by Kozma, Meyerovitch, Peled, and Samotij [34]. When r is even, our (...)

On the Practical Philosophy of Law.Yongliu Zheng - 2019 - Archiv Fuer Rechts Und Sozialphilosphie 105 (4):508-522.
Practical philosophy of law is a theory about concrete existence of law which holds that due to the asymmetry between existing law and social facts and case facts, the existing law needs to be developed in a reflective manner through application and this is the inevitable process of mutation from law 1.0 to law 2.0. Practical philosophy of law is founded on the generative thinking of practical philosophy, and distinct from other philosophies of law hereof.

Many people are uncomfortable with the idea that pleasure from certain sources is genuinely beneficial. These sources can be sorted into two classes: ones that involve others’ pain; and ones that involve what seems to be damage rather than benefit to the person involved. Here’s an example of the latter: a woman who claims that she enjoys her work performing in hard-core pornographic films. Some find it hard to take such a claim at face value – they instinctively assume that (...)

Recently, several authors have utilized the notion of dependence to respond to the traditional argument for the incompatibility of freedom and divine foreknowledge. However, proponents of this response have not always been so clear in specifying where the incompatibility argument goes wrong, which has led to some unfounded objections to the response. We remedy this dialectical confusion by clarifying both the dependence response itself and its interaction with the standard incompatibility argument. Once these clarifications are made, it becomes clear both (...)
