Showing che importance of art dialectic to science is attempted in this article, at the same time a confusion between them is avoided. To this aim fist, a bríef vision of the characters of science is offered. Then, the essentials characters of dialectic and its divers uses are examined. As a conclusion, it tries to bring to light how the dialectic technique, without giving scientific knowledge at all, is an essential scientific tool.

Le premier livre des Topiques constitue une sorte d’introduction théorique à la compilation de stratégies dialectiques présentée dans les livres centraux de cette œuvre. Nombre des notions principales employées dans les règles d’inférence contenues dans les τόποι sont systématiquement exposées et ordonnées dans ce premier livre. Parmi elles, l’exemple le plus clair est celui des « prédicables ». Il y a, néanmoins, d’autres notions, dont l’exposition doctrinale doit être recherchée dans les Catégories. Par exemple, les diverses sortes d’opposition entre termes, (...) qui sont abondamment utilisées dans les Topiques, mais ne s’y trouvent pas définies. Dans cet article, je présente une analyse formelle des deux définitions des relatifs que l’on trouve dans Cat. 7, pour montrer ensuite comment elles sont employées dans les τόποι qui impliquent la prédication essentielle des relatifs, démontrant ainsi la cohérence de cette théorie et la dépendance étroite entre les deux œuvres. Los “lugares” de lo preferible, contenidos en los primeros capítulos del libro III de los Tópicos, tienen unas peculiaridades que los distinguen muy netamente de los restantes “lugares” presentes en los libros centrales de esa obra. En este artículo hago una comparación de la estructura que tienen ambas clases de “lugares” y señalo cómo los de lo preferible no se ajustan a la teoría de la disputa expuesta en el libro I. Después, tras mostrar que los intentos de ajuste que (...) hace Aristóteles para asimilar los de los preferible al resto son ineficaces, concluyo que este conjunto de “lugares”, mal engarzado con el conjunto de la obra, podría haberse introducido de manera más coherente. Cet article essaie de montrer, contre l’interprétation donnée par Morrison, que la théorie aristotélicienne de la différence est assez cohérente et unitaire. Puisque cette théorie englobe celle des modes d’être (catégories) et celle de la prédication, la première partie de l’article montre le relations qui existent entre ces deux doctrines, en analysant surtout le difficile chapitre I, 9 des Topiques. La deuxième partie essaie de résoudre les apparentes contradictions qu’on trouve dans l’exposé de la différence aux premiers traités de l’Organon.

In what follows I will try to show how these phrases, properly understood, are consistent with the idea that what _is in_ the subject is said by accident of the substance, although they implicate a difficulty poorly resolved by Boethius himself and those who followed him on this point, of whom I will only mention by way of example some Scholastics from the 16th century. The presence of premises expressing comparison is a problem for the Aristotelian theory of the dialectical method, first because there is no general theory of comparison in the Organon and secondly because along with propositions on the opposition and inflexion of the terms, comparative statements seem to fall outside the explicit description which Aristotle gives of possible premises. The purpose of this paper is to offer a synthetic theory of comparisons according to Aristotle’s Topics , in an attempt both to (...) supply the aforementioned absence and to highlight the importance of the second problem. There are three main types of premises on the more, the less and the similar : some comparing the degree of possession of a predicate, others comparing the plausibility of a predication and finally, others expressing an analogy. Once expounded the very marked differences that occur between these three classes of propositions, the paper analyses the various kinds of argumentation based on comparative premises and offers a formalization of its logical laws. The complexity of this theory and the volume of topoi involved in the comparisons show the magnitude of a problem that has not been sufficiently studied. (shrink)

Historical discourses in cinema have generally given rise to cinematographic genres. In Chilean fiction films, however, a different scope is necessary to study its discourses. This essay proposes that it is possible to recognize three main aesthetic strategies by which Chilean fiction films use historical discourse in order to produce certain “verisimilitude effects”: contextual comment, hegemonic or counterhegemonic reinforcement, and narrative subordination.

Las distintas tradiciones sobre la celebración de la Pascua en las primeras comunidades cristianas se fundamentan en las diferentes escuelas teológicas de la Iglesia Primitiva y se concretan principalmente en dos formas diferentes, aquí identificadas como Pascha = Passio y Pascha = Transitus zoith sus propias y diferentes implicaciones cristológicas características. A partir del estudio pormenorizado de fuentes hispánicas de los siglos IV al VI, patrísticas, conciliares y litúrgicas, el autor localiza un filón en la tradición de las iglesias de (...) la Península Ibérica que identifica la fiesta de la Pascua con la fiesta de la Pascua. Península Ibérica que identifica la fiesta de Pascua zuitli la pasión de Cristo, como hacía la escuela asiática, y le confiere, sobre todo en la lex orandi, una fuerte intensidad dramática. El artículo pone de relieve una cristología pascual con luz propia y al mismo tiempo revela una mens teológica, bien equilibrada y claramente definida. Las comunidades cristianas de Hispania se beneficiarán de una sana ósmosis entre lex credendi y lex orandi, que les permitirá enfrentarse al arrianismo y llevar a su plena madurez los frutos de la creencia cristiana. En la elaboración de estas tradiciones están profundamente arraigadas muchas de las ideas teológicas y litúrgicas que prevalecen en la Iglesia actual. (shrink)

Valerie Plumwood introduced in "Some false laws of logic" a series of arguments on how the rules Exported Syllogism, Disjunctive Syllogism, Commutation, and Exportation are not acceptable. Based on this we define the class of Plumwood algebras - logical matrices that do not verify any of these theses. Afterwards we provide conditional variants of the characteristic matrix of the logic RM3 that are also Plumwood algebras. These matrices are given an axiomatization based on First Degree Entailment and are endowed with (...) Belnap-Dunn Semantics. Finally we provide results of Soundness and Completeness in the strong sense for each of the defined variants. (shrink)

El presente artículo examina los discursos histórico-geográficos sobre América transmitidos en China por misioneros jesuitas entre los siglos XVI y XVIII. Este busca demostrar el modo en que misioneros y sus colaboradores chinos crearon, cuidadosa y estratégicamente, sus informaciones sobre el continente con el fin de apoyar su agenda política y misional. El texto comienza con una descripción general de las estrategias de la misión en China y su relación con la producción geográfica sino-jesuita, para luego ejemplificar a través de (...) un análisis de los contenidos sobre la geografía, etnografía y el “descubrimiento” del continente, la conexión de estas informaciones con los planes de la misión. El artículo concluye que las representaciones sobre la geografía, gentes e historia de América reflejan tres intereses interrelacionados: atraer la atención de los literatos chinos; resaltar el alto desarrollo de la civilización europea; y comunicar mensajes religiosos. The Epistemological Status of the Faith: A Dialogue with Kant. Philosophy and Narrative Fiction: The best literature of fiction has a philosophical value, that is the main thesis proposed in this paper. The narrative structure is analysed as a human way of learning in ethic matters. The Aristotle's Poetic pointed at this goal, and modern reflexion about fiction stressed the relation tying fictive narrative and the deepest truth of human existence. The reflexión about faith and opinión is one of the most interesting points jn the thought of Prof. A. Millán-Puelles. The originality of his views on the subject appears when the author puts them in relation with Kant's Philosophy of Religión. The logic BN4 was defined by R.T. Brady as a four-valued extension of Routley and Meyer’s basic logic B. The system EF4 is defined as a companion to BN4 to represent the four-valued system of implication. The system Ł was defined by J. Łukasiewicz and it is a four-valued modal logic that validates what is known as strong Łukasiewicz-type modal paradoxes. The systems EF4-M and EF4-Ł are defined as alternatives to Ł without modal paradoxes. This paper aims to define a (...) Belnap-Dunn semantics for EF4, EF4-M and EF4-Ł. It is shown that EF4, EF4-M and EF4-Ł are strongly sound and complete w.r.t. their respective semantics and that EF4-M and EF4-Ł are free from strong Łukasiewicz-type modal paradoxes. (shrink)

On the assumption that shame is a universal emotion, cross-cultural research on shame relies on translations assumed to be equivalent in meaning. Our studies here questioned that assumption. In three studies,shamewas compared to its translations in Spanish and in Malayalam. American English speakers usedshamefor the emotional reaction to moral failures and its use correlated positively withguilt, whereasvergüenzaandnanakeduwere used less for moral stories and their use correlated less with the guilt words. In comparison with Spanish and Malayalam speakers’ ratings of their (...) translations, American English speakers ratedshameandguiltto be more similar to each other. (shrink)
