To preserve postoperative brain function, it is important for neurosurgeons to fully understand the brain's structure, vasculature, and function. Intraoperative high-frequency electrical stimulation during awake craniotomy is the gold standard for mapping the function of the cortices and white matter; however, this method can only map the “focal” functions and cannot monitor large-scale cortical networks in real-time. Recently, an in vivo electrophysiological method using cortico-cortical evoked potentials induced by single-pulse electrical cortical stimulation has been developed in an extraoperative setting. By (...) using the CCEP connectivity pattern intraoperatively, mapping and real-time monitoring of the dorsal language pathway is available. This intraoperative CCEP method also allows for mapping of the frontal aslant tract, another language pathway, and detection of connectivity between the primary and supplementary motor areas in the frontal lobe network. Intraoperative CCEP mapping has also demonstrated connectivity between the frontal and temporal lobes, likely via the ventral language pathway. Establishing intraoperative electrophysiological monitoring is clinically useful for preserving brain function, even under general anesthesia. This CCEP technique demonstrates potential clinical applications for mapping and monitoring large-scale cortical networks. (shrink)

La référence à Fichte traverse de manière discrète mais non moins fondamentale L’essence de la manifestation, où de nombreuses pages sont consacrées à l’Anweisung — texte avec lequel la pensée henryenne partage explicitement le schéma « dualiste », mais également de manière implicite une même définition de l’être. Ce schéma, qui s’exprime dans la dualité de l’être et de l’existence, de l’immédiat et du médiat, de l’absolu et du moi, de l’infini et du fini, ne manque pas de nous conduire (...) à une difficulté de principe, reconnue en tant que telle dans la philosophie postkantienne : comment l’être se rapporte-t-il à l’existence? Posant la question de l’être pour parvenir au sens de l’être même, Henry s’inscrit, consciemment ou non, dans une telle problématique, en considérant le chemin vers l’être comme une sortie de la finitude. You could compare this haiku with the last sentence in Alfred North Whitehead’s magnum opus, Process and Reality: “In (...) this way, the insistent craving is justified—the insistent craving that zest for existence be refreshed by the ever-present, unfading importance of our immediate actions, which perish and yet live for evermore.”1According to my Whiteheadian wind theology, there are four types of wind: wind of Grace; wind of Understanding; wind of Adventure; and wind of Compassion, which very interestingly correspond to Whitehead’s famous four creative phases,2 which might be expressed in my own way in terms of No → bodies language (in the sense that we exist insofar as Nothingness negates itself (No →) in such a way that we exist physically in ourselves (être-en-soi) (→ bodies).
