A New Coupled Awareness-Epidemic Spreading Model with Neighbor Behavior on Multiplex Networks.Chao Zuo, Anjing Wang, Fenping Zhu, Zeyang Meng & Xueke Zhao - 2021 - Complexity 2021:1-14.
In this paper, we propose a nonlinear coupled model to study the two interacting processes of awareness diffusion and epidemic spreading on the same individual who is affected by different neighbor behavior status on multiplex networks. We achieve this topology scenario by two kinds of factors, one is the perception factor that can change interplay between different layers of networks and the other is the neighbors’ behavior status that can change the infection rate in each layer. According to the microscopic (...)

A New Halpern-Pearl Definition of Actual Causality by Appealing to the Default World.Fan Zhu - 2022 - Axiomathes 32 (2):453-472.
Halpern and Hitchcock appealed to the normality of witness worlds to solve the problem of isomorphism in the Halpern-Pearl definition of actual causality. This paper first proposes a new isomorphism counterexample, called “bogus permission,” to show that their approach is unsuccessful. Then, to solve the problem of isomorphism, I propose a new improvement over the Halpern-Pearl definition by introducing default worlds. Finally, I demonstrate that my new definition can resolve more potential counterexamples than similar approaches in the current literature, including (...)

The Development and Prospects of Socioscientific Issues Teaching in the Context of Immersive Media Technology.Zeming Kong, Shuya Zhang, Fujin Zhu & Junjun Zhang - 2022 - Frontiers in Psychology 13.
Marshall McLuhan once proposed the concept of “global village,” believing that with the help of electronic media, Earth has become indistinguishable from a community, and there is only one Earth for human beings and one world for all countries. Today, with the continuous development of media technology, the concept of a human destiny community has also gained the general consensus of people around the world. The global value of the human destiny community encompasses the interdependent concept of international power, the (...)

The Influence of Teacher–Student Interaction on the Effects of Online Learning: Based on a Serial Mediating Model.Hai-Long Sun, Ting Sun, Feng-Yi Sha, Xiao-Yu Gu, Xin-Ru Hou, Fei-Yan Zhu & Pei-Tao Fang - 2022 - Frontiers in Psychology 13.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, online education has become an important approach to learning in the information era and an important research topic in the field of educational technology as well as that of education in general. Teacher–student interaction in online education is an important factor affecting students’ learning performance. This study employed a questionnaire survey to explore the influence of teacher–student interaction on learning effects in online education as well as the mediating role of psychological atmosphere and learning engagement. The (...)

Physical activity and subjective well-being of older adults during COVID-19 prevention and control normalization: Mediating role of outdoor exercise environment and regulating role of exercise form.Qingqing Yang, Yue Tang, George Jennings, Bin Zhao, Fusheng Zhu & Xiujie Ma - 2022 - Frontiers in Psychology 13.
Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the physical and mental health of older adults has been threatened. Promoting physical and mental health through physical activity has therefore become a strategy for healthy aging. In order to better understand the impact of the participation of older adults in physical activity, this paper selects different types of physical activity, and examines the relationship between them and subjective well-being through the analysis of the mediation effect of outdoor exercise environment and the regulating (...)

Be in Your Element: The Joint Effect of Human Resource Management Strength and Proactive Personality on Employee Creativity.Jiexuan Zhang, Fei Zhu, Ning Liu & Zijun Cai - 2022 - Frontiers in Psychology 13.
Employee creativity is fast becoming a part and parcel in the wake of the increasing volatility of the employment market and the complexity of job demands. Drawing from the actor-context interactionist theoretical approach and career construction theory, this paper adds to current research by exploring the serial mediating effect of job crafting and career adaptability in the impact of human resource management strength on employee creativity. Furthermore, we suggest that proactive personality interacts with HRMS to jointly influence creativity. Survey data (...)

Composite Learning Prescribed Performance Control of Nonlinear Systems.Fang Zhu, Wei Xiang & Chunzhi Yang - 2021 - Complexity 2021:1-10.
This paper investigates a composite learning prescribed performance control scheme for uncertain strict-feedback system. Firstly, a prescribed performance boundary condition is developed for the tracking error, and the original system is transformed into an equivalent one by using a transformation function. In order to ensure that the tracking error satisfies the PPB, a sufficient condition is given. Then, a control scheme of PPC combined with neural network and backstepping technique is proposed. However, the unknown functions cannot be guaranteed to estimate (...)

Integrity of IKK/NF‐κB Shields Thymic Stroma That Suppresses Susceptibility to Autoimmunity, Fungal Infection, and Carcinogenesis.Feng Zhu & Yinling Hu - 2018 - Bioessays 40 (4):1700131.
A pathogenic connection between autoreactive T cells, fungal infection, and carcinogenesis has been demonstrated in studies of human autoimmune polyendocrinopathy-candidiasis-ectodermal dystrophy as well as in a mouse model in which kinase-dead Ikkα knock-in mice develop impaired central tolerance, autoreactive T cell–mediated autoimmunity, chronic fungal infection, and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma, which recapitulates APECED. IκB kinase α is one subunit of the IKK complex required for NF-κB activation. IKK/NF-κB is essential for central tolerance establishment by regulating the development of medullary thymic (...)

Rethinking the Relationship Between Academia and Industry: Qualitative Case Studies of MIT and Stanford.Fengliang Zhu & Soaring Hawk - 2016 - Science and Engineering Ethics 22 (5):1497-1511.
As knowledge has become more closely tied to economic development, the interrelationship between academia and industry has become stronger. The result has been the emergence of what Slaughter and Leslie call academic capitalism. Inevitably, tensions between academia and industry arise; however, universities such as MIT and Stanford with long traditions of industry interaction have been able to achieve a balance between academic and market values. This paper describes the strategies adopted by MIT and Stanford to achieve this balance. The results (...)

The Intelligence of Player Habits and Reflexivity in Magic: The Gathering Arena Limited Draft.Feng Zhu - 2023 - Angelaki 28 (3):38-55.
This paper considers how players of Magic: The Gathering (MTG) limited draft turn their acquired gameplay style or disposition (their MTG “gamer habitus”), with respect to drafting, into an object of knowledge. This is done in order to then consciously rework it, to respond to new formats and to the changing metagame. I will focus on a particular case study: how streamer Chord_O_Calls' instructional video shows his own re-evaluation of certain cards. Evidently, it is a process requiring reflexivity, although I (...)
