In today s world, the increasing progress in biotechnologies has paved the way for profound challenges to basic notions definingthe human existence. In 1754 Véron Duverger de Forbonnais published the two books of his Élemens du Commerce which, as the Avertissement stated, collected together some of the chapters the author had written for the Encyclopédie. The second edition was published in the same year with ‘quelques légères additions’. In 1765, Carlos Lemaur, a French engineer who worked in Spain from 1750 until 1785, translated the text into Spanish. The probable reason for the translation was the importance that Forbonnais attributed to the construction (...) of roads and infrastructure that enabled improved communication between the markets and an increased distribution of money to the small cities located far from big centres. The translator worked as an engineer in a number of remarkable constructions designed to enhance logistics in Spain, and shared Forbonnais’ perspective on Enlightenment principles. My analysis will focus on the translation strategies adopted by Lemaur, and on the adaptation of the source text to the target culture, following the approach taken by Theo Hermans. I will examine the equivalence between the source text and the translation, which was the result of the functionality and dynamism of the translator's technique. (shrink)

У статті розкриваються особливості становлення християнства на києворуських теренах, показано, що воно було зовнішньою релігією Київської держави, яка, з одного боку, прагнула стати рівноцінною частиною тогочасного міжнародного життя та долучитися до цивілізаційного поступу, а з іншого – не бажала й не могла визнати зверхності будь-якого зовнішнього впливу. Зрештою не тільки в народі, але й у середовищі освічених верств населення ще довго лишалися живими старі вірування, які визначали не тільки своєрідність народного мислення, але й основні світоглядні інтенції християнізованої києворуської культури. Органічний (...) синтез християнського та язичницького світоглядів, який сформувався на теренах Київської Русі, найбільш повно виявився в руському іконописі, який цілком правомірно можна назвати світоглядною візитівкою тієї доби. У статті аналізуються методологічні засади дослідження народної ікони. З цією метою розглядається правомірність вивчення народної ікони крізь призму методологічних принципів формалізму та підкреслюється її підпорядкований характер. Головна увага приділяється світоглядним основам художнього антианатомізму народної ікони, який постає як результат глибоко вкорінених у колективну свідомість міфологічних уявлень українського народу. Підкреслюється, що, незважаючи на позірну різноманітність народних ікон, їх споріднює іманентно присутня у кожній з них міфологічна структура, яка визначає своєрідність не тільки народної ікони, а й української культури в цілому.

У статті представлений погляд на природу і самотність Еріха Фромма. Розкриваються основні положення теорії Фромма, особливий акцент робиться на співвідносності дихотомії, екзистенціального конфлікту та структури характеру з феноменом самотності. Характерною рисою сучасного суспільства є криза, а вона негативно впливає на світ людини, як це було за часів Фромма. Тому проблематика статті є актуальною.

This paper discusses literacy as a socio-political phenomenon from the perspective of several relatively independent educational discourses. The first is critical education theory and research revealing the hidden mechanisms by which education policies act in the interests of a global market economy. The second is the perspective of critical pedagogy scholars on contemporary educational challenges, who offer responses similar to those discussed in current discourse on informal civic education. The third is the heated discussion of high-stakes literacy testing (related to (...) OECD literacy studies such as PISA, IALS, etc.) the results of which are used as a source of argumentation for diverse attitudes and educational consequences. Based on an analysis of literacy theory, research on active citizenship and civic education, the term “civic literacy” is proposed and argued as a relevant conceptual frame for conceptualizing school as an institution which can be involved in resistance to all forms of power politics or ideological indoctrination and manipulation, while at the same time, respecting the traditional values and aims of general education. Йдеться про комунікативну взаємодію в модерних та трансформованих суспільствах в рамках дискусій про «крах» комунікацій та функціональні особливості (вади та позитивні елементи) «суспільства знань». Cуб’єкти комунікації засвоюють знання, інформацію, здобуті за допомогою сприйняття, уявлення, тобто те, що пізнається і є невіддільними від суб’єкта об’єктивними механізмами. Інші краще сприймають і, відповідно, довіряють більше текстовій інформації або відомостям, отриманим за допомогою речей, що розміщуються поза індивідом, але містять у собі соціальнокультурний зміст. Ефективність обміну інформацією і всього процесу комунікації багато в чому залежить (...) від пізнаванності суб’єктами комунікації предмета обговорення (обміну інформацією) та комунікативної компетентності. Це стосується, перш за все, комунікацій, що ставлять метою обмін науковою інформацією, тобто наукових комунікацій. (shrink)

The modernizing global world with new sociocultural practices actualizes the study of creativity as a constitutive phenomenon of human personality in the context of the challenges of modern era. The object of this research is creativity as a cultural phenomenon. The subject is creativity in the S. Freud's concept of psychoanalysis. In the era of change and uncertainty, when the role of creativity is increasing, the ideas of S. Freud acquire special significance. The article considers the unconscious in the context (...) of the social, in correlation with social factors and as a key position in creativity. The theoretical and methodological framework of the study includes cultural-historical and comparative methods. The systemic approach allowed viewing the phenomenon of creativity as a system in combibation of elements. The author also used the methods of analogy, analysis, comparison, and generalization. The discovered by Freud mechanism of sublimation is considered through the lens of creativity, as a way of redirecting energy displaced into the field of the unconscious by social factors, the sphere of creativity. The psychoanalytic concept serves as the methodological basis for explaining creativity as a complex process in combination of the conscious and unconscious. (shrink)

The monster is created as a marvel, as something which, like transgression itself, does not belong to the assumed natural order of things. It is a liminal creature which embodies the very boundaries humans have overreached. The latest perspectives on the concept of the monstrous are connected to the new technological experiments and to artificial intelligence. Technology problematizes the real vs the virtual, the human vs the inhuman, the concept itself of legal persona: all this sets itself within a posthuman (...) scenario. The movies Transcendence and Her perfectly epitomize these concepts, because in the former the conscience of the scientist Will is downloaded into a computer, from which he emerges as a new monstrous entity; in the latter a computer program, a voice, so artfully interacts with man as to give the impression of a reasonable and independent human being. The prominent Russian intellectual, Nikolai Berdyaev, is renowned for his metaphysics of creativity, which he founded on a unique concept of freedom. His unorthodox interpretation of human freedom and the reality of the Spirit became a kind of manifesto for religious existentialism. This article analyzes the social and metaphysical significance of Berdyaev's philosophy of creativity in the context of the European and Russian philosophical traditions.

While a large body of research has provided quantitative data on children’s levels of happiness, positive emotions and life satisfaction, the literature reflects a dearth of studies that analyze these dimensions from a narrative and qualitative point of view. Folk and fairy tales may serve as ideal tools for this purpose, since they are concerned with several concepts scientifically investigated by research in the field of positive psychology, such as resilience, self-realization, personal growth and meaning in life. The aim of (...) the present study was to explore children’s well-being and positive emotions using an innovative narrative approach, which involved interviews and group discussions, as well as the analysis of fairy tales written and discussed in a group context. The sample included 95 school children who were asked to report and discuss in a group setting situations or experiences which triggered positive emotions and happiness in them. Guided by their teachers and a school psychologist, they were then asked to write their own original fairy tale drawing on the positive emotions that had previously emerged. Positive emotions were found to be triggered mainly by interpersonal relationships with peers as well as with family members. Hobbies and leisure time were also strongly associated with happiness and hedonic well-being, while personal fulfilment, self-esteem and goal achievement emerged as highly significant for children. In sum, the findings suggest that this school psycho-educative intervention based on narrative strategies provided useful information on children’s well-being and yielded positive feedback, the implications and possible further applications of which are discussed.
