Whilst the field of contemporary art has been impeded until recently by Saudi Arabia’s blasphemy laws and heavy censorship, the last decade has seen a rapid growth of art networks and institutions. Incidents such as the conviction of internationally lauded artist and curator Ashraf Fayadh in 2015 on charges of apostasy show that Islamic authorities still claim to define what is acceptable and not acceptable in the field of cultural production, but several renowned Saudi artists have started to question the (...) hegemony of the Islamic field. This article discusses these processes in the context of radical economic reform led by the Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman. Why do state actors see an investment in art and creativity as a necessity for economic renewal? What role does contemporary art play in strategies to rebrand the negative image of Saudi Arabia? How do artists relate to Islamic narratives and material culture to claim authority in Islamic debates and provide legitimacy for their concerns? By focusing on the interactions between economic reform and new spaces of Islamic critique, the paper aims to shed light on the way in which the drive for economic transformation is remapping the social boundaries between Islamic authorities, the creative economy and the state. El artículo propone una meditación sobre el ser de la Iglesia en relación con el quehacer teológico. Lo hace ajustándose a la siguiente argumentación: la Iglesia cumple en el quehacer teológico el mismo papel que se le reconoce en la confesión de fe cristiana; dicho de otra forma, lo que signifique creer la Iglesia en el símbolo de la fe, guiará igualmente la labor teológica ejercida por la Iglesia y, además, orientará la comprensión teológica del misterio de la misma Iglesia. La fidelidad a este pensamiento lleva al autor a proponer como definición más adecuada para la Iglesia la de sacramento.This article suggests a meditation on the church in relation to its theological task. It does it adapting itself to this reasoning: the church plays, in its theological task, the same role as the one recognized in the confession of Christian faith; in other words, the meaning of believing in the church as the symbol of faith says, will guide, too, the theological work done by the church, and will direct the theological understanding of the mystery of the church itself. His fidelity to this idea leads the author to propose the word sacrament as the most approprate to define the Church. (shrink)

En este artículo se presenta la recepción que tuvo en la modernidad la teoría de Leibniz conocida como doctrina del optimismo. Aunque son las interpretaciones de Kant y de Hegel las que nos van a ocupar, para contextualizar la doctrina del mejor de los mundos posibles, será imprescindible referirnos a la acogida inmediata que la tesis tuvo en la Ilustración. A continuación, se analizará el texto de Kant «Algunas observaciones sobre el optimismo» y su defensa de las tesis de Leibniz. (...) Dedicamos el último apartado del artículo a la lección que Hegel dedicó a la cuestión del optimismo de Leibniz en sus Lecciones sobre la historia de la filosofía. (shrink)

El presente articulo propone revisitar la infancia a través del análisis de la obra teatral Five Easy Pieces del director suizo Milo Rau. A partir del trabajo conceptual y escénico presente en la actuación de los niños y las niñas, la obra nos sitúa ante un interrogante fundamental: qué podemos representar desde la infancia más allá de las fórmulas convencionales basadas en la inocencia, la pureza o la memoria y qué pueden contar los niños y las niñas cuando son sujetos (...) activos de la representación. Rau propone abrir otros diálogos previamente no concebidos desde la representación con niños y niñas en el teatro contemporáneo. (shrink)

Trotz aller Kontroversen um die Person Carl Schmitt, ist das Interesse an seinen Werken ungebrochen. Ein Grund für diese anhaltende Faszination dürfte in Schmitts hermetischen Gedanken zur Politischen Theologie liegen. Diese Studie geht der Frage nach, was Carl Schmitt unter seiner Politischen Theologie versteht und welche theologische Provenienz diese aufweist. Dabei wird aufgezeigt, dass innerhalb der Politischen Theologie Carl Schmitts ein Primat des Politischen herrscht und die theologische Dimension in Gänze eine "unkatholische Ausrichtung" besitzt.
