Abstract

Cet article part d’un passage de la profession de foi du concile de Chalcédoine, où l’on peut constater un certain décalage entre le "vouloir dire" et l’équivoque de l’effectivement "dit" dans le double emploi du mot homoousios appliqué au Christ, pour souligner la nécessité d’une critique philosophique de l’usage théologique de tout concept. L’auteur prolonge son propos en analysant l’utilisation du concept de "transsubstantiation" en théologie eucharistique. En aidant le théologien à ajuster son dire à son vouloir dire, le philosophe se tient dans les marges de la théologie, mais à titre de spectateur intéressé et son apport ne pourra avoir lieu que sous contrôle théologique – donc sous celui d’une théologie fondamentale. Si rigueur il doit y avoir en théologie et en philosophie, herméneutique philosophique des textes théologiques et interprétation critique des textes philosophiques par le théologien ne sont pas une option mais un impératif.This article takes up a passage in the profession of faith of the Council of Chalcedon in which it is possible to observe a certain gap between “what is meant” and the equivocacy of what is actually “said” in the double utilization of the word homoousios applied to Christ. This emphasizes the necessity of a philosophical critique of the theological use of any concept. The author extends his analysis to the use of the concept of “transubstantiation” in Eucharistic theology. By assisting theologians in adjusting what they say to what they mean, philosophers remain on the margins of theology, but as interested spectators and their contribution can only be made under theological supervision – hence under the supervision of fundamental theology. If there is to be real rigorousness in theology and philosophy, then philosophical hermeneutics of theological texts and critical interpretation of philosophical texts by theologians are not an option, but an imperative.
