  1. The Roots of the Ecological Crisis and the Way Out:1 Creation Out of ‘no thing’ God Being ‘no thing’.Ioanna Sahinidou - 2016 - Feminist Theology 24 (3):291-298.
Plato defined the primal dualism of reality: its division into the invisible eternal realm of thought and the unshaped matrix of the visible temporal realm of corporeality. The hierarchy of mind over body is reflected in the hierarchy of male over female, of human over animals, and in the class hierarchy of rulers over workers. Plato adds the alienation from body and earth, as the lowest level of cosmic hierarchy. The interrelatedness and interdependence of all cosmic beings uncover the dualism: (...)

  • Christological Perichoresis.Ioanna Sahinidou - 2014 - Open Journal of Philosophy 4 (4):552-559.
I reclaim the patristic Christological use of perichoresis, by showing how in bringing together different entities, such as God and Nature, and looking at them in unity as the one person of Christ, we can acknowledge the perichoresis between divine and human, divine and nature. Christological perichoresis supports the idea that the whole creation is included in God’s recreated cosmos, in response to the redeeming power of Christ who entered the web of life as a creature. The Christological reading of (...)

  • Michael Novak’s understanding of capitalism.Ján Kalajtzidis - 2023 - Ethics and Bioethics (in Central Europe) 13 (3-4):149-158.
This paper examines the work of Michael Novak, a prominent American philosopher and theologian with roots in Central Europe. The study focuses on Novak’s understanding of democratic capitalism and its role in promoting economic growth and human flourishing. Novak argues that when properly understood and practiced, capitalism can lead to a more just and prosperous society, as it is based on the human desire for freedom, creativity, and self-expression. However, he emphasizes that the success of capitalism depends on the presence (...)

  • After Lynn white: Religious ethics and environmental problems.Willis Jenkins - 2009 - Journal of Religious Ethics 37 (2):283-309.
The fields of environmental ethics and of religion and ecology have been shaped by Lynn White Jr.'s thesis that the roots of ecological crisis lie in religious cosmology. Independent critical movements in both fields, however, now question this methodological legacy and argue for alternative ways of inquiry. For religious ethics, the twin controversies cast doubt on prevailing ways of connecting environmental problems to religious deliberations because the criticisms raise questions about what counts as an environmental problem, how religious traditions change, (...)

  • In Search of a Sustainable Society in Africa: Christianity, Justice, and Sustainable Peace in a Changing Climate.Ben-Willie Kwaku Golo - 2018 - Philosophia Reformata 83 (1):68-89.
The violence which humankind has visited not only on the natural world but also on human populations has resulted in negative environmental change which in turn induces diverse forms of violence in Africa. This has been threatening a sustainable society and human flourishing in Africa. Invited as Christ’s witnesses, Christians need to offer qualitative resources to forestall the violence that threatens human flourishing. What opportunities do these challenges offer Christian theologians and ethicists to provide life-transforming alternatives that enhance a sustainable (...)
