  3. Alliance of Philosophy and Religion from Farabi’s View.Sina Salari Khorram & Mohammad Kazem Elmi Sola - 2013 - پژوهشنامه فلسفه دین 11 (1):47-60.
The present article is trying to study the alliance of religion and philosophy, from Farabi's view, by citing to his works. In this regard, first, we analyzed the historical reasons for the need for philosophy, then we will introduce the Farabi's purposes for constitution of this alliance, through which the necessity of this alliance becomes clear. The main claim of the article is that Farabi correlates the two through two different ways. The first depends upon the historical procedure of the (...)

The worldwide investigating nurses’ attitudes towards do-not-resuscitate order: a review. [REVIEW]Nader Salari, Alireza Abdi, Rostam Jalali, Samira Raoofi & Neda Raoofi - 2021 - Philosophy, Ethics, and Humanities in Medicine 16 (1):1-10.
BackgroundThe acceptance or practical application of the do-not-resuscitate order is substantially dependent on internal or personal factors; in a way that decision-making about this issue can be specific to each person. Moreover, most nurses feel morally and emotionally stressed and confused during the process decision-making regarding DNR order. Therefore, the purpose of the present study was to evaluate nurses’ attitudes towards DNR order in a systematic review.MethodsThis critical survey was conducted using a systematic review protocol. To this end, the most (...)

Loss of control is not necessary to induce behavioral consequences of deprivation: The case of religious fasting during Ramadan.Mostafa Salari Rad & Jeremy Ginges - 2017 - Behavioral and Brain Sciences 40.
Pepper & Nettle argue that the more present-oriented behavior associated with a low socioeconomic status is an adaptive response to having relatively little control over the future. However, a study of fasters during Ramadan shows that self-imposed deprivation, which carries no implications regarding the ability to realize deferred rewards, is associated with loss and risk aversion.

Cultural determinants of technology transfer - a case study in human resources planning for steel production.Felix Rauner & Djavad Salari - 2003 - AI and Society 17 (3-4):266-277.
Technology transfer (TT) is a highly complex problem in development cooperation. Case studies that ITB has conducted in various projects focusing on automobile and steel production as well as in the machine tool sector indicate that the multi-dimensionality of know-how transfer is often and greatly underestimated during the planning and implementation of TTs from one industrial “culture” to another. Greater insight and knowledge of the problems associated with know-how transfer in TT projects can only be obtained from case studies in (...)

BackgroundMoral distress is one of the most important problems that nurses face in their care of patients. Various studies have reported the frequency and severity of moral distress in nurses. However, to date, a comprehensive study that shows the results of these research across the world was not found, therefore due to the importance of this issue, its role in the health of nurses and patients, and the lack of general statistics about it worldwide, the present study was conducted to (...)

Crossing the Boundaries of Obligation: Are Corporate Salaries a Form of Bribery?John Douglas Bishop - 2004 - Journal of Business Ethics 55 (1):1-11.
. Trans-National Corporations (TNCs) pay relatively high salaries to local people in host countries. TNCs assume that such employees will accept an employeeÇôemployer relationship similar to that which exists in North America, but the obligations and personal interests that such a relationship create often directly conflict with systems of obligation already established in the host country. When TNCs do business across the boundaries of systems of obligation, corporate salaries can be seen as a form of unethical bribery. In this paper, (...)

Resisting corruption in the Nigerian legislature: A critical discourse analysis of news and opinion articles on legislators’ salaries.Innocent Chiluwa - 2021 - Discourse and Communication 15 (5):519-541.
This study analyses news reports of public reactions to the controversial legislators’ monthly/annual income in Nigeria in 2019, which was presumed to far exceed the salaries of legislators worldwide. Data for this study are news and opinion articles published between 2017 and 2019 that represent public response to the salary scandal involving public officers and National Assembly members. Critical discourse analysis is adopted in the analyses of media representations of the main actors in and situations of the scandal. Hence, discursive (...)

RETRACTED: The effect of personality traits on employees’ annual salaries in Chinese startups.Longlong Zhao - 2022 - Frontiers in Psychology 13:1032638.
Personality is a relatively regular habit of a person. It exerts a specific influence on personal behavior and the corresponding results. At the same time, personality can provide a certain degree of explanation for the differences among individuals in behavior and the related consequences. Economic differences are one of the discrepancies that exist among individuals. In order to explore the quantitative relationship between personality and individual income, this study takes 376 active employees of Chinese startups as the primary research objects. (...)

Textually mediated discourses in Canadian news stories: Situating nurses’ salaries as the problem.Ann-Marie Urban - 2018 - Nursing Inquiry 25 (3):e12233.
The aim of this article is to elucidate how nurses are positioned in Canadian news stories regarding their salaries. While the image of nursing in mass media has been widely studied, few studies explore how nurses are constructed in news stories. Drawing on ideas from institutional ethnography together with discourse analysis, this discussion highlights public textual discourses about nurses’ salaries in Canadian news stories. The media discourse was found to distort the issues by focusing attention on nurses. Recognizing how these (...)

Gender-based pay gaps: Methodological and policy issues in university salary studies.Julia Mcquillan & Myra Marx Ferree - 1998 - Gender and Society 12 (1):7-39.
Methodology is often a point of contention in gender-based salary studies. Although this debate seems at first to be merely about technical issues, it also has an important conceptual dimension. We argue that there are two competing implicit conceptions of discrimination, one institutional and the other individual, that underlie many such debates. We first contrast the preferred methodologies advanced by each side, the policy capturing approach and the flagging approach, and explore the theoretical meaning of their statistical models. We then (...)

The effects of marital status and wives' employment on the salaries of faculty men:: The (house) wife bonus.Marcia L. Bellas - 1992 - Gender and Society 6 (4):609-622.
Wives contribute both directly and indirectly to their husbands' careers. For men in some occupations, wives' contributions should lead to higher salaries. In addition, if wives who are not employed contribute more to their husbands' careers than employed wives, men with nonemployed wives should enjoy greater financial benefits than men with employed wives. This study examines data for a national sample of faculty men to determine whether marital status and wives' employment appear to affect men's salary levels. Findings reveal a (...)

Regressive Tax Rates and the Unethical Taxation of Salaried Income.Donald R. Nichols & William F. Wempe - 2010 - Journal of Business Ethics 91 (4):553-566.
In a regressive tax system, lower-income taxpayers pay larger percentages of their incomes in taxes compared to higher-income taxpayers. Although most policymakers and citizens view regressive taxation as generally unfair and unethical, the U.S. tax system taxes wage, salary, and self-employment income in a manner that deliberately subjects lower-income taxpayers to marginal tax rates that are greater than those imposed on higher-income taxpayers. As a result, some lower-income taxpayers pay a larger percentage of their income in taxes than higher-income taxpayers. (...)

L’engagement dans une pratique culturelle comme occasion de développement professionnel. Le cas de salariés associatifs en situation d’accompagnement de bénévoles.Florence Tardif-Bourgoin - 2018 - Revue Phronesis 7 (4):124-134.
In a context of associational professionalization that is modifying deeply the training offer designed for volunteers in social centers, our contribution (stemming from a doctoral research) proposes to consider the volunteers› accompaniment as an opportunity for employees› professional development in charge of welcoming them. The involved research has mobilized a theoretical framework that articulates work on emerging professionalism and professional ethos (Jorro, 2009; 2011) with communities of practice theory (Wenger, 2005). We propose to consider these accompaniment situations as a cultural (...)
