Dogs for Life: Beagles, Drugs, and Capital in the Twentieth Century.Brad Bolman - 2022 - Journal of the History of Biology 55 (1):147-179.
This article tracks the transformation of beagle dogs from a common breed in mid-twentieth century American laboratories to the de jure standard in global toxicological research by the turn of the twenty-first. The breed was dispersed widely due to the expanding use of dogs in pharmacology in the 1950s and a worldwide crisis around pharmaceutical safety following the thalidomide scandal of the 1960s. Nevertheless, debates continued for decades over the beagle’s value as a model of carcinogenicity, even as the dogs (...)

What mysteries lay in spore: taxonomy, data, and the internationalization of mycology in Saccardo's Sylloge Fungorum.Brad Bolman - 2023 - British Journal for the History of Science 56 (3):369-390.
Italian mycologist Pier Andrea Saccardo is best remembered for his monumental Sylloge Fungorum, the first ‘modern’ effort to compile all identified fungi within a single classification scheme. The existing history of mycology is limited and has primarily focused on developments within England, but this article argues that Saccardo and his collaborators on the Sylloge supported a vital transnational expansion of mycological knowledge exchange and played a crucial role in stabilizing the tangled knot of local naming and identification among the world's (...)

Elizabeth S. Bolman (éd.), Monastic visions_. _Wall paintings in the Monastery of St. Antony at the Red Sea.Catherine Jolivet-Lévy - 2004 - Byzantinische Zeitschrift 96 (1):287-290.

A Critique of Some Anglo-American Models of Collective Moral Agency in Business.David Ardagh - 2013 - Philosophy of Management 12 (3):5-25.
The paper completes a trilogy of papers, under the title: “A Quasi-Personal Alternative to Some Anglo-American Pluralist Models of Organisations: Towards an Analysis of Corporate Self-Governance for Virtuous Organisations”. The first two papers of the three are published in Philosophy of Management, Volumes 10,3 and 11,2. This last paper argues that three dominant Anglo-American organisational theories which see themselves as “business ethics-friendly,” are less so than they seem. It will be argued they present obstacles to collective corporate moral agency. They (...)

The controversy between Schelling and Jacobi.Lewis S. Ford - 1965 - Journal of the History of Philosophy 3 (1):75-89.
In lieu of an abstract, here is a brief excerpt of the content:The Controversy Between Schelling and Jacobi LEWIS S. FORD SCHELLING, ALONGWITH FICHTE, has suffered the fate of being labelled one of tIegel's predecessors. Richard Kroner provides the classic expression of this viewpoint in his monumental study, Von Kant bis Hegel, which examines Schelling's thought primarily for its contribution to Hegel's final synthesis.I In English we have Josiah Royce's sympathetic and lively account of Schelling's early romantic exuberance, regarded as (...)

The Role of Values and Leadership in Organizational Transformation.Drumm McNaughton - 2003 - Journal of Human Values 9 (2):131-140.
This is an analytical study of organizational transformation, values that must be present and operationalized for organizations to successfully change, and the role that leadership has in facilitat ing that change. Specifically, using De Geus' model of living and economic companies and taking input from key theorists such as Senge, Quinn, Bolman and Deal, and others, this study examines and analyzes the values and guiding principles that facilitate an organization's ability to transform, quali ties the leadership must possess and (...)
