    In the Wake of Lombard.Eric Leland Saak - 2015 - Augustinian Studies 46 (1):71-104.
This article investigates the new attitude toward the reception and use of Augustine in the early thirteenth century as seen in the works of Helinand of Froidmont and Robert Grosseteste. Both scholars were products of the Twelfth Century Renaissance of Augustine, represented in Peter Lombard’s Sentences, the Glossa Ordinaria, and Gratian’s Decretum. Yet both Helinand and Grosseteste reconstructed Augustine’s texts for their own purposes; they did not simply use Augustine as an authority. Detailed and thorough textual analysis reveals that the (...)

Ethik - Normen - Werte.Armin Nassehi, Irmhild Saake & Jasmin Siri (eds.) - 2015 - Wiesbaden: Springer VS.

  13. Screening the church: A study of clergy representation in contemporary Afrikaans cinema.Shaun Joynt & Chris Broodryk - 2018 - HTS Theological Studies 74 (2):1-8.
The church-funded CARFO or KARFO (Afrikaans Christian Filmmaking Organisation) was established in 1947, and aimed to ‘[socialise] the newly urbanized Afrikaner into a Christian urban society’ (Tomaselli 1985:25; Paleker 2009:45). This initiative was supported and sustained by the Dutch Reformed Church (DRC), which had itself been part of the sociopolitical and ideological fabric of Afrikaans religious life for a while and would guide Afrikaners through tensions between religious conservatism and liberalism and into apartheid. Given Afrikaans cinema’s ties with Christian religious (...)
