Abstract: The purpose of this essay is to explore the nature and role of art as a human phenomenon from a broadly cognitive perspective. Like science and religion, art serves to mediate the unknown, at once to embrace and to defend against the fundamental mystery of existence. Thus, it may challenge the status quo while generally serving to maintain it. Art tracks the individuation of subjectivity, serving the pleasure principle, yet is appropriated by the collective’s commitment to the reality principle. (...) While science and religion close in on serious answers to fundamental questions, art opens up possibilities toward playfulness, uselessness, imagination, and arbitrary whim. Though art has no unifying definition, meaning, or intent through time and across cultures, it remains important to people, both to do and to enjoy. It serves to counterbalance the naive realism of science, the “rationality” of modern society, and the literalism of text-based religion. While its allegiance is divided, its most worthy intent is to aid us to confront and negotiate the great mystery revealed to us in consciousness. (shrink)

This is a very rudimentary draft on comparative study of religions. This is being worked for ultimate deposit here and elsewhere as an open access monograph.

The grammatical forms and material of the book of Revelation suggest a complex interplay of Old Testament and 1st century literature and language. As well, the book does not lack its own peculiarity and character that is unparalleled in the literate world. Various analytical tools including historical-comparative methodologies have been employed to reconstruct the linguistic paradigm of the book. Artificial intelligence and its derivatives provide alternate methods of probing this paradigm.

It is evident from studies of Proverbs that the book has a number of authors and was compiled over an extended period of time. Bible scholars differ in their opinions concerning the authorship and date of compilation of the book. There are a number of critics who believe that references to the names of some authors of Proverbs are symbolic. There are others who believe that the final compilation date of the book was around the 2nd century B.C. On the (...) other hand, there are those who believe that the names of the authors in question are literal and denote actual persons who really existed. There are also some who refute the 2nd century date of final compilation and instead advocate a final compilation date of around the 7th century B.C. Evidence would favour literal names for the authors in question and an earlier final compilation date of around 7th century B.C as opposed to symbolic names and final compilation date of the 2nd century. It is the purpose of this paper to present evidence to support literal names and final compilation date in the 7th century. (shrink)

Language sophistication indicates the development of language that incorporates differentiation or diversity that is constrained by integration that facilitates organization or unity. This prelude provides the backdrop for discussing language sophistication. Of necessity, any language that was a part of the continuum of salvation history (Heilsgeschichte ) should: 1) possess the sophistication necessary to re-define OT terminology, 2) have the hegemony to launch the NT church, 3) enjoy the universality that allowed for translation into contemporary languages, and 4) retain the (...) portability that enables interpretation in post-modern languages. The New Testament Writings and the Septuagint were possibly compiled in Hellenism’s greatest period of influence. It is reasonable to say that the writings were influenced by Hellenism because they were written in the language of Hellenism. This study examines how the hegemony of Hellenism, the worldviews of Hellenists, and the current of anti-Semitism impacted the New Testament Writers and influenced why they wrote how they wrote.

This essay offers a historical account, as well as an explanation, of the recent rise of Islamic fundamentalism in the Maldives.

Does globalization serve the same function as hellenization did in the 1st century? Is globalization a threat to religion? Is there a theological ground for understanding the leveling of barriers? How does Pentecost relate to Babel and the present phenomena of globalization? These are some questions explored in this paper.

In this paper I shall argue that useful correspondences can be drawn between the role of depiction in showing a view of the world and the realisation that would view God as a picture of experience in the world, since both can be seen to illustrate an art of interpretation. The perceptual insight that is gleaned in mystical-philosophical consciousness converges on the idea of a realm that is marked as divine, and by exploiting mental and linguistic imagery this mindful awareness (...) can be made concrete in the form of a written text, which can be seen to be analogous to a pictorial representation. The writer of a text purportedly sees and knows the domain of divine reality through sensible and conceptual means and then reduces this consciousness to a planar form, which is observable as an artistic rendering. The reader, who is at the same time a viewer, is invited to perceptually and imaginatively attend to the artifact as a manifestation of the experient's understanding of the functional nature of God, and in this apprehension of the divine scenario in the textual picture the interpretative motif of God-in-the-painting is revealed. In an online, participatory class, we interpreted The Dream of the Black Planet knowing nothing of the dreamer beyond age and gender, and having none of the dreamer’s associations. Our interpretation included a series of predictions about the dreamer. When it was complete, we asked the bringer of the dream (who had until then been silent and was not visible to us -- her video camera was switched off ) to give us more information about the dreamer. Our predictions were (...) mostly confirmed. The dreamer is in a car with his dad. It is not clear who is driving. This record is another iteration of an experiment that is described more fully in the paper The Dream of the Six-Legged Dog: An Experimental System that Tests Symbolic Meaning, soon to be published. Purpose: This article attempts to deal with the events that took place during the advent (reappearance) of Imam Mahdi, the Savior of all the worlds. In fact, in this article, we will discuss the forces that will join him when the Imam of the time appears, and above all, with Imam Hussein and how globalization can pave the way for Imam Mahdi's world revolution. Conclusion: God helps Imam Mahdi and Jesus Christ to establish divine government on earth, and this is accepted by Muslims and Christians. Dread and terror, as part of Imam Mahdi's power, will move in advance of his soldiers. Imam Mahdi will appear with the aim of reforming humanity and spreading justice in the world. Imam Mahdi, with the assistance of the Messiah, will ensure the completion and practical actualization of the mission of the Prophet Muhammad. The Quran contains many verses that mention Imam Mahdi. Not only the Quran, but also other religious books mention him, even with the titles and names mentioned in the Qur'an. Conclusion: The coming of Imam Mahdi and Jesus Christ is one of the sure promises of God, and these two saviors will appear with God's help and the will of the people. They fill the earth with justice and establish the government of God. 'People travelled for numerous reasons,' so J.W. Drijvers submits at the beginning of his piece on travel and pilgrimage literature. Be it ‘commerce, government affairs, religion, education, military business or migration,’ people ‘made use of the elaborate system of roads and modes of transport such as wagons, horses and boats’ to traverse the far-reaching stretches of the Roman Empire. And for 4th century Christians in particular, participating in religious festivals as well as interaction with holy sites, sacred artifacts and clergymen (...) had become greater a reason to travel still. Motivation to travel, in other words, was aplenty. But what exactly allowed for Christian religious travel in the 4th century AD to develop as quickly as it did? (shrink)

Seeing how the idea of the ‘ruler cult’ and the necessary ‘myth-making’ to establish it exists to this day, as seen with the regime of a 21st century dictator like Kim Jong-il, it would be most interesting to see what parallels exist between cases of divine leadership and what we might learn about our contemporary cult rulers when looking at the dynamics of the two-millennia-old cult of the deified Emperor Augustus. The general idea of strong foundationalism is that knowledge has a foundation in well warranted beliefs which do not derive any warrant from other beliefs and that all our other beliefs depend on these foundational ones for their warrant. Although inerrancy posits Scripture as a solid foundation for theology, the idea that the doctrine of biblical inerrancy involves a strong foundationalist epistemology is deeply problematic. In fact, inerrancy does not require any particular view of the structure of knowledge, and notable (...) sources on inerrancy tout it in ways inconsistent with most forms of strong foundationalism. This chapter aims at pointing out the correspondences between the transformative Five Percenter process of self-cultivation outlined in the Supreme Mathematics and previous interpretations articulated and transmitted in the sapiential traditions of Islam, Christianity, or Taoism.

This study is aiming at analyzing extemporaneous methods of instructional speech in the context of the Naqshbandi Sufi Order and its parallels with improvised music as well as potential for modern educational purposes. Focusing on a processual analysis covering the flow of events in the communication and its environment, the work is using approaches applied in performance studies as well as improvised music, as well as cognitive science and psychological perspectives concerned with the mechanisms of the subconsciousness. While US-Hip Hop has been attested considerable influence of the controversial Black supremacy movement Five Percent Nation, a similar pattern can be observed with the rigid Rastafarian doctrine of the Bobo Shanti Order and Jamaican Dancehall-Reggae. Considering the commercial relevance and global popularity of both musical styles, this study attempted to shed light on the question if either artists are using controversy for promotional agendas or it is them being used for missionary purposes in turn. A multi-layerd cross-case study based (...) on Critical Discourse Analysis as well as ethnographic research has been conducted to determine the degree and direction of Bobo Shanti-representations in Jamaican Dancehall-Reggae as compared to Five Percenter Rap in the US, focusing on visual representations, declared affiliations as well as claims of moral superiority and gender roles in reference to doctrinal sources. -/- . In the wake of modernism studies' global turn, this article considers the role of translation in fostering Iranian modernism. Focusing on the poetic translations of Bijan Elahi (1945-2010), one of Iran's most significant poet-translators, we demonstrate how untranslatability becomes a point of departure for his experimental poetics. Elahi used premodern Sufi hermeneutics to develop his modernist theory of translation, whereby the alien core of the text is recognised at the centre of the original. As he engages the translated text from (...) many angles, Elahi confounds polarities between innovation and imitation, and authorship and translation, that continue to bifurcate translation studies. In contributing to the globalization of modernist studies, this work adds to our understanding of modernism's entanglement within premodern concepts of creation, as well as to modernism's recreation of tradition from a non-European periphery. This paper revisits William James's 1906 speech, "The Moral Equivalent of War," to look at the relationship of religion, particularly Christianity, to war and violence. Beginning with an anthropological update concerning "biological or sociological necessity," which confirms James's anti-mystical view of war, this paper then offers a case that monotheism, including Christianity, has an extremely ambiguous relationship with war and violence. There is evidence both that doing away with monotheism would have little effect on the prevalence of war and that (...) monotheism supports war in post-neolithic cultures. Finally, it seems the contribution James makes cannot be seen until the distinction between religion and philosophy is put aside. Only then can we see his suggestion that the proper role of intellectual leaders is to offer persons with politico-military power informed advice concerning actions that will result in fewer actual wars. The article reveals the nature and manifestations of Ukrainian religious pluralism. Despite the constant interest in the topic - the plurality of religious life in Ukraine, science has not yet clarified the causes and roots of this phenomenon. The author analyzes the historical, psychological, socio-political factors that caused the religious diversity of Ukraine. The presence of many religious traditions within one ethnic and state territory promotes tolerant relations between bearers of different religious beliefs. Ukraine's religious plurality distinguishes Ukrainians from other (...) nations. This gives grounds to consider Ukraine a unique religious phenomenon of the European level. Religious plurality is a condition for the establishment of the principles of freedom of religion, freedom of choice. The author derives worldview plurality and polydenominationalism in Ukraine from the history of the Ukrainian people, looking for their origins in the pre-Christian and later early Christian era. The presence of heresy in Ukraine as a generalized form of coexistence of different worldviews explains the current richness of religious traditions, their syncretization. The article makes an intermediate conclusion that the history itself, living conditions, national character of the people formed Ukraine denominationally plural. Based on such a historical foundation, since gaining state independence in 1991, Ukraine has been self-determined in its priorities regarding the country's spiritual / religious development. The Law “On Freedom of Conscience and Religious Organizations” adopted by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine created a legal basis for the equal existence and development of different religions in Ukraine. The plurality of Ukrainian society is enshrined in law. The basic principles of the plurality of religious life are confirmed by specific digital data that illustrate the richness of religious traditions in Ukraine quantitatively and qualitatively. The author provides statistics on all religions and denominations that exist in Ukraine, giving the number of communities, monasteries, schools, priests, publications and more. Detailed information seeks to form a holistic picture of the religious life of Ukraine. The analyzed data give grounds to single out the factors that determine the religious plurality of Ukraine. According to the author, at the beginning of the XXI century the denominational network of Ukraine has largely already formed. The mass emergence of new religious movements is unlikely. Nevertheless, Ukraine has not yet exhausted all the possibilities of religious pluralism. It can grow not only due to the emergence of some exotic, technological, syncretic religions, but also because of intra-confessional division or unity of communities. In Ukraine, there are structures that cultivate interreligious tolerance, which will ensure a high level of religious freedom. However, religious pluralism in Ukraine is periodically threatened by various circumstances - internal and external, general and local, collective and personal. In conclusion, religious pluralism is determined as a guarantor of religious freedom, the right of everyone to profess his chosen system of spiritual values. (shrink)

The church is separate from the state. Thus, historically, it is seen that even though a government wasn’t secular, God was secular. He didn’t drag religion into politics, but silently did intervene to administer temporal justice and order in the world (i.e. temporal justice in relation to temporal authority). With regard to the church, it doesn’t seem that God is interested in an organized religion at all. Christianity had nothing to do with an external temple. Each Christian is the temple (...) of God. At the root of the corruption problem is its moral and economic nature. The economic problem is a moral problem. Modern theories of corruption are usually empirical in nature. However, they are not without their ideological dimensions though in the modern scheme of things, a normative framework is usually not rationally entertained. Empiricism combined with materialism takes on the reins of economies; however, disregard of the spiritual will not bring any lasting solution. A vision of the absolute is needed. There (...) are various ideologies and religions that provide some kind of a vision or the other. The biblical vision is both historical and prophetic as well. Spirituality has become a focus of academic interest within a range of disciplines, including theology, religious studies, psychology and anthropology. Philosophers of religion have, however, typically given the topic of spirituality scant attention. This volume fills this important gap in the field. The volume consists of three main parts: Spiritual practice and philosophical understanding; The spiritual life and being; and Philosophical problems with the spiritual life. The first part contains chapters that are united by discussion of whether or not the (...) topic of spirituality should be given a more fundamental role within the philosophy of religion, and, if so, how that might be accomplished. The second part contains chapters addressing fundamental issues concerning human beings, their lives, and their self-understanding in relation to the spiritual life. PhD in Religious Studies Pavlo Pavlenko draws attention of the readership to the next individual monograph of prof. Anatoliy Kolodnyi named “The Phenomenon of Religious Studies”. Below we published his review of this book.

This article aims to provide a philosophical case for the veracity of the doctrine of the papacy. This specific case will be presented as an a priori argument that will be formulated in light of the work of Richard Swinburne and Linda Zagzebski—which, in combination, will provide us with grounds for believing in the veracity of the papacy from a philosophical perspective, and thus help to further bolster up the historical arguments that are usually brought in support of this doctrine.

У статті розглядаються явища релігієтвору епохи постмодерну, які релігієзнавці намагаються окреслити за допомогою хмари термінів: квазірелігії та псевдорелігії, синтетичні або синкретичні релігії, штучні релігії, пародійні релігії, плинні релігії, гіпер-реальні релігії. Автор аналізує специфіку застосування та примінимість цих термінів до нових релігійних течій, що конструюються в епоху постмодерну, зокрема до течій, які виникли з артефактів художньої чи популярної культури, та течій, у віровченні чи практиці яких яскраво виражений іронічний чи тролінговий компонент абсурдизм, та ставить питання класифікації релігій, що поєднують у собі (...) висміювання усталених релігій з цілком щирою релігійною практикою, релігійною свідомістю, віровченням, інституціями та бажаннями змінити себе та світ у кращий бік. Автор аналізує термінологію, яку різні автори у межах різних підходів намагаються застосувати до виявів постмодерного релігієтвору, звертає увагу на проблематичність побудови стійкої системи класифікації таких утворень за умов нерозв’язаності основоположного питання релігієзнавства – загальноприйнятного визначення релігії, яке в деяких країнах виражається в юридичній площині формулюваннями, вразливими для висміювання й пародіювання методами штучних релігій. Релігієзнавство ХХ століття не змогло виробити термінологічний апарат, який би зміг задовільно розв’язати проблему «релігія чи імітація релігії» та створити парадигму, яка б навела лад у розмитих постмодерном поняттях «релігія», «не-релігія», «імітація релігії», і навіть «імітація релігії, реалістичніша, ніж деякі релігії». Однак вже початок ХХІ століття побачив конкуренцію трьох термінів: гіпер-реальні релігії А.Поссамая, плинні релігії Т.Тайри та штучні релігії К.Кьюзак. На думку автора, саме термін «штучні релігії» К.Кьюзак, найкраще задовольняє вимоги до терміну для опису сучасних придуманих, сконструйованих, виведених з інших явищ популярної культури явищ, що називають себе релігіями, і різною мірою задовольняють вимоги класичного релігієзнавства для визначення релігії. У статті на підставі аналізу наукової літератури, експертних інтерв’ю, інформаційних ресурсів світової комп’ютерної мережі Інтернет, зокрема електронних варіантів таких видань, як BBC news, BBC Future, Financial Times; офіційних інтернет-порталів міжнародних організацій ООН, ВООЗ, українського Національного інституту стратегічних досліджень та ін. розглядаються питання щодо того, який вплив виказала пандемія COVID-19 на релігію і релігійні практики за час тих «жнив скорботи», які вона вже здійснила, та що чекає на них у майбутньому, коли пандемія таки припинить свій руйнівний хід по планеті. Авторка поставила (...) за мету – на основі аналізу новітньої інформації щодо впливу пандемії COVID-19 на релігію і релігійні практики виявити і представити ті важливі моменти, які вже є актуальними для них у нинішній момент, а також ті, що ще тільки починають проявлятися і будуть актуальними в пост-пандемічну епоху. В якості провідного метода дослідження використовувався метод Desk Research, який дозволяє як швидко отримувати інформацію, так і плідно зіставляти джерела інформації між собою з метою досягнення ефективного дослідницького результату та формулювання аргументованих висновків. У статті розглядаються питання: Якими були причини того, що пандемія фактично «перевернула світ»? Що це означає для майбутнього релігійних зборів, ритуалів та подорожей, враховуючи, що все це може посилити передачу вірусів у глобальному масштабі? Чи гряде кардинальна трансформація всього релігійного життя людства? А чи не є це вже початком кінця релігій, як це передбачали деякі соціологи минулого? Питання, як бачимо, фундаментальні. І їх поставила перед нами саме пандемія. Тож, вочевидь, праві ті вчені, які завжди відзначали, що кризи несуть в собі не тільки негативні явища, а й дають шанс на позитивні зміни в людському суспільстві. І, зіставивши думки філософів минулого, які вважали, що релігія, ця «стара магія» і «розчарування світу», скоро відійде в минуле, а «тотемом нового виду стане туризм», з тим, як пандемія COVID-19 вплинула на релігійну свідомість людей в усьому світі, авторка доходить висновку, що ці прогнози не справджуються. Релігія нікуди не дінеться, а ось самі вчення і релігійні практики чекають певні трансформації. Як також церкви будуть зобов’язані дотримуватись вимог епідеміологічної безпеки під час церковних заходів і подорожей. Оскільки впливи пандемії COVID-19 у науковому середовищі ще осмислюються і література тільки починає з’являтись, то у даній статті викладено авторську позицію з проблем, які в ній піднімаються. Стаття є розвитком ідей Відкритого православ’я в царині екології. Автор акцентує увагу на тому, що Православна церква України долучається до загальноправославного і світового процесу молитви і турботи про довкілля. Автор звертає увагу на тяглість екологічної теми в діяльності Вселенських патріархів, Посланні Всеправославного собору на Криті і в документі Константинопольського патріархату «За життя світу / На шляху до соціального етосу Православної церкви». Зі спеціальними посланнями з нагоди Дня молитви за довкілля до православних українців звертається і Предстоятель ПЦУ Блаженніший митрополит Епіфаній. Але (...) автор іде далі і пропонує перспективу зміни культури православних традицій і обрядів на більш екологічну. Автор зачіпає тему культури цвинтарів, екологічності поховань і нових форм поминання; культуру церковних традицій, освячень і будівництва храмів; переміну погляду на переробку і утилізацію; піст як екологічну практику. Автор пропонує створення православного екологічного календаря, екологічного богослов’я та релігійних засад екологічного світобачення. Як приклад, розглядається 28 вірш біблійної Книги Буття, який зазвичай критикується захисниками довкілля, і пропонується повернення до більш древнього і одночасно більш сучасного і екологічного його розуміння і перекладу. Автор також пропонує під екологічним кутом подивитися на образи, які використовував у своїй проповіді Христос. (shrink)

Слово редактора до чергового 94 номеру журналу.

Доктор філософських наук Павло Павленко привертає увагу читацької аудиторії до чергової колективної монографії науковців Відділення релігієзнавства Інституту філософії імені Г.С. Сковороди НАН України, під назвою “Релігійні ідентичності в їх сутності і конфесійних виявах: український контекст”. Нижче публікуємо текст його рецензії на цю книгу.

У статті аналізуються різні підходи до вирішення проблеми пов'язаної з характером і датуванням так званої Таємної вечері, яку провів Ісус Христос зі своїми учнями перед своєю смертю. Описи, представлені в синоптичних Євангеліях явно вказують, що ця подія відбулася в четвер увечері і представляло собою пасхальний седер. Наратив Євангелії Івана ясно показує, що єврейська пасхальна вечерю мала відбутися в п'ятницю. Узгодженням цих двох наративів богослови займаються вже тривалий час. Стаття докладно демонструє різні рішення цієї проблеми, які стали популярні в останні десятиліття. (...) Автор показує, що провідні біблеїсти сучасності все частіше повертаються до традиційної точки зору, що Остання вечеря Христа була дійсно пасхальної трапезою, а не дружній зустріччю хабурів, яку Ісус бажав провести у вузькому колі найближчих учнів. Перший розділ статті присвячений одному з найбільш модний напрямків - календарному вирішення проблеми датування Останньої вечері Ісуса. У статті висвітлюються особливості та етапи становлення єврейського календаря. Також аналізується гіпотеза, детально розроблена Анні Жобер, яка ґрунтується на наявності в юдаїзмі Другого храму різних календарних варіацій і супротивних груп, які по-різному розуміли особливості святкування релігійних свят. Анні Жобер розвинула теорію двох календарів на основі псевдоепіграфа Книги ювілеїв і кумранских рукописів із залученням відомостей з патристичній літератури. На її думку Христос провів пасхальну юдейську трапезу з споживанням агнця з 12 апостолами не в четвер, а у вівторок, тому що Він використав не офіційний храмовий місячно-сонечний календар, а сонячний календар єсеїв, описаний в книзі Ювілеїв. Деякі підтвердження цієї гіпотези можна зустріти в роботах Єпіфанія Кіпрського та Вікторина Петавійского. У статті наводяться основні аргументи критиків цієї гіпотези. Зокрема, з точки зору Жобер треба відкинути наративи синоптичних Євангелій, вважаючи їх пізніми дописами, стає незрозуміло, як храмове священство могло допустити заклання агнців єсеїв на кілька днів раніше за встановлений термін, особливо зважаючи на їх дуже напружені стосунки. Також немає ніяких документальних підтверджень аналогічних випадків в історії юдаїзму. Таким чином, календарна теорія має як ряд серйозних підтверджень, так і чимало слабких аргументів. У наступному числі цього видання буде подано так зване рабиністичне вирішення датування Останньої вечері і його докладний огляд. У поза наступному числі цього видання буде розглядатися астрономічний та інші концепти цієї проблеми. (shrink)

Рецензія на трьохтомну "Історію релігій О.М.Шепетяка.

В рецензії розглянуто колективну монографію “Окультні корені релігієзнавства: про вплив не-гегемонічних течій на академічне середовище близько 1900 року”, опубліковану видавництвом De Gruyter у 2021 році. Книга містить гіпотезу про те, що підвалини релігієзнавства, крім позитивістської та християнсько-теологічної парадигм, також вбирають у себе парадигму езотеризму. Автори обґрунтовано демонструють, що провідні релігієзнавці, археологи та інші науковці межі ХІХ-ХХ століть або активно цікавилися езотеризмом, або навіть самі належали до відповідного світогляду, стаючи членами Теософського товариства чи інших езотеричних організацій того часу. Такий підхід є (...) важливим для історії релігієзнавчої думки, оскільки дозволяє помітити закономірності, на які раніше не звертали окремої уваги, зокрема, популярність компаративного релігієзнавства, намагання поєднати науку та релігію в одному світогляді тощо. Формування символу віри, який би адекватно відображав віру Церкви та перешкоджав поширенню єресей, було основним завданням Вселенських Соборів та пильної роботи багатьох богословів. Найбіль популярним серех східних християн, які використовують візантійський літургійний обряд є Нікейсько-Константинопольський символ віри. Серед науковців, священників та віруючих сформувалось переконання, що це символ віри є результатом діяльнсоті двох Вселенських Соборів. Завданням цього дослідження є вияснити, чи справді Перший Константинопольський Собор має відношення до цього символу віри. Автори статті переконані, що Нікейсько-Константинопольський символ віри не був ухвалений на (...) цьому Соборі. Про це свідчать декілька аргументів. По-перше, канони Константинопольського і Ефеського Соборів забороняють вносити зміни в Нікейський символ віри. По-друге, Нікейсько-Константинопольський символ віри не відповідає духу і цілям Першого Константинопольського Собору. По-третє, у Нікейсько-Константинопольському символі відсутні висловлювання, які присутні в Нікейському символі, і які могли б підкреслити основну ідею Константинопольського Собору. Ці аргументи переконливо доводять, що Нікейсько-Константинопольський символ віри не пов'язаний з Першим Константинопольським Вселенським Собором 325 року. Наступний Собор, Ефеський, також не вносив зміни у символ віри. Вперше Нікейсько-Константинопольський символ віри був озвучений на Халкидонському Соборі. Відповідь на питання про походження Нікейсько-Константинопольського символу віри дає перше слово символу віри. Всі символи віри, які походили від Вселенських Соборів, серед них і Нікейський символ, починається словами "ми віруємо", оскільки такий символ є вираженням колективної віри всіх учасників Собору і всієї Церкви. Нікейсько-Константинопольський символ віри починається зі слів "я вірую". Такими словами починались усі хрещальні символи віри, тобто символи, які кандидат промовляв перед хрещенням. Завданням цього акту було виразити віру кандидата перед Церквою, що було необхідною умовою для отримання хрещення. Це означає, що Нікейсько-Константинопольський символ віри є хрещальним символом, а не соборовим. Головним питанням у дискусії між католиками і православними є "Filiоque": православні богослови звинувачують католицьких у тому, що вони додали до символу віри слова, яких немає в його первісному варіанті, і цим порушив рішення Вселенського Собору. Якщо ж Нікейсько-Константинопольський символ віри не є продуктом діяльності Собору, то ці звинувачення безпідставні. У статті доведено, що кожна літургійна традиція східного християнства сформувала власний варіант символу віри, хоч в основі кожного з них лежить той текст мисволу віри, який був ухвалений на Першому Нікейському Соборі. У статті наведена порівняльна таблиця, яка показує схожості і відмінності між символами віри різних літургійних традицій. У східному християнстві сформувались п'ять літургійних традицій: візантійська, вірменська, олександрійська, східно-сирійська, західно-сирійська. В кожній із них використовується власний варіант символу віри. Західні християни перейняли візантійський варіант символу віри і використовують його поряд з іншими символами. (shrink)

Незважаючи на карантин, 2020 рік став плідним для багатьох наукових колективів. Так, Національний заповідник «Давній Галич» вже вкотре провів традиційну Всеукраїнську наукову конференцію, присвячену авраамічним релігіям. Результатом останнього наукового форуму 29-30 жовтня 2020 р. стала збірка матеріалів «Авраамічні релігії в процесі стабілізації міжконфесійних і міжнаціональних відносин». Водночас в цьому виданні опубліковані матеріали міжнародної наукової конференції «Україна-Ватикан: контекст міжконфесійних ідентичностей і релігійних трансформацій у світі й Україні. Моноконфесійний випуск цих матеріалів поданий у такій узагальненій співпраці: Міністерство культури та інформаційної політики, Національна (...) академія наук України, Міністерство освіти і науки України, кафедра філософії, соціології та релігієзнавства Прикарпатського національного університету імені В.Стефаника. All across the Aegean and beyond, word of the salutary reputation of Epidaurian divinity had spread. And as tales of Epidaurus’ sanctuary of Asclepius travelled the lands and crossed the seas, so did the urge to ensure that the Epidaurian success formula was, as we say, coming soon to a place near you. So we know Epidaurus had managed to (...) make a name for itself: all the way from the Argolid Peninsula to Asia Minor and the shores of Northern Africa. But what exactly had led to its rise in prominence? What about Epidaurus allowed for it to transcend its local cult-status? And how did its celebrated reputation and meaning change across places and time? What, in other words, is the story of what is often simply referred to as the sanctuary of Asclepius at Epidaurus?
