Conceptions of Continuity: William Kingdon Clifford’s Empirical Conception of Continuity in Mathematics (1868-1879).Josipa Gordana Petrunić - 2009 - Philosophia Scientiae 13 (2):45-83.

Balancing Research and Service in Academia: Gender, Race, and Laboratory Tasks.Josipa Roksa & Candace Miller - 2020 - Gender and Society 34 (1):131-152.
Our study highlights specific ways in which race and gender create inequality in the workplace. Using in-depth interviews with 67 biology PhD students, we show how engagement with research and service varies by both gender and race. By considering the intersection between gender and race, we find not only that women biology graduate students do more service than men, but also that racial and ethnic minority men do more service than white men. White men benefit from a combination of racial (...)

The Visual Communication of Book Covers in Croatia.Josipa Selthofer - 2020 - Logos 30 (4):48-60.
The aim of this paper is to analyse and compare the graphic elements present on book covers published in Croatia from 2012 to 2018, and compare the data with the graphic elements on book covers from five other European book markets. Hofstede’s model of cultural dimensions was used in the research to examine the ways in which the design of book covers is influenced by culture. The graphic elements on book covers from Croatia and a sample of five European countries (...)

  14. Natural Kinds and Classification in Scientific Practice.Catherine Kendig (ed.) - 2016 - Routledge.
This edited volume of 13 new essays aims to turn past discussions of natural kinds on their head. Instead of presenting a metaphysical view of kinds based largely on an unempirical vantage point, it pursues questions of kindedness which take the use of kinds and activities of kinding in practice as significant in the articulation of them as kinds. The book brings philosophical study of current and historical episodes and case studies from various scientific disciplines to bear on natural kinds (...)

Stavovi studenata Sveučilišta u Osijeku prema online učenju tijekom potpunog zatvaranja uslijed epidemije COVID-19.Juraj Jurlina, Demian Papo & Hrvoje Potlimbrzović - 2022 - Metodicki Ogledi 29 (1):263-283.
Due to COVID-19 pandemic caused by the virus SARS-CoV-2, in the spring of 2020 Republic of Croatia imposed a lockdown, which included a measure of transferring the educational process on all educational levels from classroom to distance education. Characteristics of learning in higher education during the lockdown were identical to those pertaining to online learning. Aiming to determine the attitudes of students of Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek towards online learning and the factors affecting their attitudes, we have conducted (...)

Stavovi studenata Sveučilišta u Osijeku prema online učenju tijekom potpunog zatvaranja uslijed epidemije COVID-19Attitudes of University of Osijek’s students towards online learning during lockdown due to COVID-19 pandemic. [REVIEW]Juraj Jurlina, Demian Papo & Hrvoje Potlimbrzović - 2022 - Metodicki Ogledi 29 (1):263-283.
S ciljem utvrđivanja stavova studenata Sveučilišta Josipa Jurja Strossmayera u Osijeku prema online učenju i čimbenika tih stavova, proveli smo kvantitativno istraživanje. Podatke smo pritom (...)

[English in PhilArchive, unpublished]. Ruđer Bošković's (Rogerius Joseph Boscovich, 1711-1787) induction is described as a reasoning procedure that combines abductive, generalizing and deductive forms of inference. According to Bošković, the application of inductive reasoning extends beyond natural science. Bošković's critique of the use of the principle of sufficient reason is discussed, and constructive rules of Bošković's inductive logic are proposed from the standpoint of contemporary justification logic. To that end, justification logic could be extended with Bošković's typology of reasons. Hunter's (...)
