Visuospatial priming of the mental number line.Ivilin Stoianov, Peter Kramer, Carlo Umiltà & Marco Zorzi - 2008 - Cognition 106 (2):770-779.
It has been argued that numbers are spatially organized along a "mental number line" that facilitates left-hand responses to small numbers, and right-hand responses to large numbers. We hypothesized that whenever the representations of visual and numerical space are concurrently activated, interactions can occur between them, before response selection. A spatial prime is processed faster than a numerical target, and consistent with our hypothesis, we found that such a spatial prime affects non-spatial, verbal responses more when the prime follows a (...)

CSR development in post-communist economies: employees' expectations regarding corporate socially responsible behaviour – the case of Romania.Carmen Stoian & Rodica Milena Zaharia - 2012 - Business Ethics, the Environment and Responsibility 21 (4):380-401.
Drawing on stakeholder theory and the evolutionary approach to institutions, this paper investigates the channels through which corporate social responsibility (CSR) is developed in post-communist economies by focusing on the employee background factors that shape the employees' expectations with regard to corporate socially responsible behaviour. We identify three channels through which exogenous and endogenous CSR are developed: employees with work experience in multinational enterprises (MNEs) (leading to exogenous CSR), employees with CSR knowledge (leading to exogenous CSR) and employees with experience (...)

Clinical Psychological Figures in Healthcare Professionals: Resilience and Maladjustment as the “Cost of Care”.Emanuele Maria Merlo, Anca Pantea Stoian, Ion G. Motofei & Salvatore Settineri - 2020 - Frontiers in Psychology 11.
Background: The health professionals are involved in the paths of care for patients with different medical conditions. Their life is frequently characterized by psychopathological outcomes so that it is possible to identify consistent burdens. Besides the possibility to develop pathological outcomes, some protective factors such as resilience play a fundamental role in facilitating the adaptation process and the management of maladaptive patterns. Personal characteristics and specific indexes such as burdens and resilience are essential variables useful to study in-depth ongoing conditions (...)

Study of the Teachers’ Option of Primary and Preschool Education in Romania to Use Learning Situations for Training Pupils’ Skills.Aida Cornelia Stoian - 2016 - International Letters of Social and Humanistic Sciences 73:17-23.
Publication date: 29 September 2016 Source: Author: Aida Cornelia Stoian This study highlights the results of an empirical research, whose purpose was to study the teachers` option of primary and preschool education to use learning situations for training pupils’ skills in relation to seniority in teaching and learning environment and to identify of the level of conceptual representation of the learning situations term in the opinion of teachers in primary and preschool education. We made a questionnaire in order to identify (...)

    Lacan logicien.

Learning Orthographic Structure With Sequential Generative Neural Networks.Alberto Testolin, Ivilin Stoianov, Alessandro Sperduti & Marco Zorzi - 2016 - Cognitive Science 40 (3):579-606.
Learning the structure of event sequences is a ubiquitous problem in cognition and particularly in language. One possible solution is to learn a probabilistic generative model of sequences that allows making predictions about upcoming events. Though appealing from a neurobiological standpoint, this approach is typically not pursued in connectionist modeling. Here, we investigated a sequential version of the restricted Boltzmann machine, a stochastic recurrent neural network that extracts high-order structure from sensory data through unsupervised generative learning and can encode contextual (...)

The Role of Suppression and the Maintenance of Euthymia in Clinical Settings.Emanuele Maria Merlo, Anca Pantea Stoian, Ion G. Motofei & Salvatore Settineri - 2021 - Frontiers in Psychology 12.
Background: Defense mechanisms serve as mediators referred to the subjects’ attempt to manage stressors capable of threatening their integrity. Mature defense mechanisms represent the high adaptive group, including suppression, which allows the subject to distance disturbing contents from consciousness. In line with general defensive intents, suppression would preserve stable mood states, as in the case of euthymia. Clinical issues usually disturb homeorhesis, so that the study of subjects’ suppressive tendencies would suggest possible existing relations among defense mechanisms, mood states, and (...)
