    The present article describes a study, based on the analysis of conversations, of the verbal interactions between carers and profoundly multiply-disabled young people. The aim of the study is to show how the phenomenon of repetitive speech acts which is necessarily distributed on the interlocutory level generates or facilitates the process of mutual understanding.
