Abstract
Der 1897 in Berlin geborene Gerhard Scholem wanderte bereits 1923 nach Palästina ein, wo er eine Stelle als Bibliothekar an der Jüdischen Nationalbibliothek in Jerusalem erhielt. Als Dozent und später Professor für jüdische Mystik an der 1925 gegründeten Hebräischen Universität wurde er der bedeutendste Erforscher der jüdischen Kabbala im 20. Jahrhundert. Damit erschloss er der Judaistik ein von der jüdischen Theologie des 19. Jahrhunderts übersehenes bzw.My notes
