Courage in The Analects: A Genealogical Survey of the Confucian Virtue of Courage.Chen Lisheng - 2010 - Frontiers of Philosophy in China 5 (1):1-30.

Roots of Ru 儒 Ethics in shi 士 Status Anxiety.Matthias L. Richter - 2021 - Journal of the American Oriental Society 137 (3):449.
When originally independent pragmatic texts were included in larger early Chinese compilations, this entailed a recontextualization that potentially transformed the meaning of those texts significantly.
