  5. Natural deduction systems for some non-commutative logics.Norihiro Kamide & Motohiko Mouri - 2007 - Logic and Logical Philosophy 16 (2-3):105-146.
Varieties of natural deduction systems are introduced for Wansing’s paraconsistent non-commutative substructural logic, called a constructive sequential propositional logic (COSPL), and its fragments. Normalization, strong normalization and Church-Rosser theorems are proved for these systems. These results include some new results on full Lambek logic (FL) and its fragments, because FL is a fragment of COSPL.

The Eagle and the Snake, or anzû_ and _bašmu_? Another Mythological Dimension in the _Epic of Etana.Jonathan Valk - 2022 - Journal of the American Oriental Society 140 (4):889.
Much of the surviving text of the Epic of Etana tells the story of an eagle and a snake. The eagle and snake are extraordinary creatures, and their story abounds with mythological subtext. This paper argues that the Neo-Assyrian recension of Etana was amended to include explicit references to the eagle and the snake by the names of their mythological counterparts, anzû and bašmu. These references occur in two analogous contexts and serve the same narrative purpose: to dehumanize the other (...)

Blood on the Wind and the Tablet of Destinies: Intertextuality in Anzû, Enūma eliš_, and _Erra and Išum.Selena Wisnom - 2021 - Journal of the American Oriental Society 139 (2):269.
Enūma eliš and Erra and Išum are richly intertextual poems that both make sophisticated allusions to Anzû. Both do so in competitive ways: Enūma eliš reshapes earlier motifs towards its goal of elevating Marduk and Babylon over the gods and cities that came before them, while Erra and Išum uses allusions to undermine the image of Marduk that Enūma eliš creates. Tiʼāmtu’s blood carried on the wind to announce Marduk’s victory and the tablet of destinies which Tiʼāmtu fastens to Qingu’s (...)

Marduk the Fisherman.Selena Wisnom - 2022 - Journal of the American Oriental Society 141 (1):211.
This note considers Marduk’s use of the net in Enūma eliš. This weapon is usually assumed to be a net for catching birds inherited from Marduk’s relationship to Ninurta mythology, since Ninurta’s opponent in battle was the demonic bird Anzû. Here it is suggested that the net can also be used as a fishing net and portrays Marduk as a fisherman. This coheres with the nature of Marduk’s opponent, Ti’āmtu, whose name means sea, and also fits into the depiction of (...)
