Architecture as the Art of Shaping the Human Environment and Human Space.Krystyna Najder-Stefaniak - 2007 - Dialogue and Universalism 17 (12):115-121.
The author suggests to view the architectural planning of the human environment as „directing” the phenomena and events that occur in human surroundings. In her reflections on human existence she juxtaposes the concepts “environment” and “space”, which both accentuate different aspects of the human environment. The author views “environment” as the objective existence of human surroundings, and “space” as the effect of environmental envisionment and experiencing the environment by means of rationality and valuation. The author also focuses on interactions between the (...)

    Cognitive Function of Art—the Bergsonian Approach.Krystyna Najder-Stefaniak - 2010 - Dialogue and Universalism 20 (3-4):133-142.
The article outlines two possible human “responses” to the general situation of today’s world. One, here named “provisional culture”, abandons continuity for momentariness, the other—ecological culture—underscores the benefits of duration. The first derives from the modern thought paradigm, the second from the paradigm of ecological thought. The author points to these two culture models’ relation to different time concepts. She notes that by resigning continuity between the past, present and future, humanity risks losing its sense of responsibility and access to ethics—that (...)

    Security and Sustained Development.Krystyna Najder-Stefaniak - 2017 - Dialogue and Universalism 27 (4):43-52.
Interesting for the debate on human security is the concept of coexistence of culture and civilization. According to Albert Schweitzer, civilization and culture were not mutually exclusive and did not compete against each other. However, if civilizational growth began to dominate over cultural development, or, in other words, if culture began to lag behind civilization, human life would be reduced to its biological aspect and man would become unable to take the adequate care of his natural and social ecosystems. He/she, (...)

    The Value of Beauty in the Perspective of Eco-Systemic Thinking.Krystyna Najder-Stefaniak - 2013 - Dialogue and Universalism 23 (4):141-149.
The article refers to the fact that the eco-systemic paradigm of thinking gives new possibilities to understand and evaluate beauty. The paper analyzes the understanding of beauty proposed by a founder of eco-philosophy, Henryk Skolimowski. Moreover, it refers to the conceptions of the relationship between beauty and creative human activity in the writings of Plotinus, Henri Bergson, and Edward Abramowski. Inspired by their reflections on beauty, the paper presents author’s own justification of the value of beauty obeyed the paradigm of (...)

    mysterium Magnum: Michelangelo's Tondo Doni.Regina Stefaniak - 2008 - Brill.
Drawing on the fifteenth century theology of Saint Joseph, classical visual sources, Ficino’s commentary on the _Phaedrus_ and _Symposium_, and Dante’s _rime petrose_, this book interprets Michelangelo’s Tondo Doni as a model of Ephesians’ ‘great sacrament’ of marriage for the new Florentine republic.

    Uzasadnienie wyboru wartości.Zdzisław Najder - 1971 - Etyka 8:91-103.
The main task of the philosophy of value is seen to be the working out of a conceptual framework, within which evaluative reasoning could be analysed. Such conceptual framework does not have to rest on evaluative assumptions, but will necessarily have same normative impact, namely by marking our evaluations more conscious and coherent. The article outlines six methods, which could be used by the philosophy of value to justify the choice of values.

    Confronting the Minotaur.D. M. Yeager - 2002 - Tradition and Discovery 29 (1):22-48.
Moral inversion, the fusion of skepticism and utopianism, is a preoccupying theme in Polanyi’s work from 1946 onward. In part 1, the author analyzes Polanyi’s complex account of the intellectual developments that are implicated in a cascade of inversions in which the good is lost through complicated, misguided, and unrealistic dedication to the good. Parts 2 and 3 then address two of the most basic of the objections to Polanyi’s theory voiced by Zdzislaw Najder. To Najder’s complaint that (...)
