This study aimed to investigate the relationship between digital literacy and the quality of life of the elderly in Arak. The research is a descriptive survey in terms of applied purpose and terms of method and nature. The statistical population of the present study included all the elderly in Arak who were at least 64 years and older; 376 participants were selected using the sampling method. Participants were assessed with the help of digital literacy and quality-of-life questionnaires. To (...) analyze the data, descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation) and inferential statistics (analysis of covariance) were used using the SPSS-21 software. The results showed that all parameters of digital literacy had a direct and significant effect on the quality of life of the elderly. Introduction Expressions of Managerial ethics as a clinical phenomenon in Nursing Ethics as expressed by nurse managers were investigated. A coherence could be detected between the concepts and phenomena of Managerial ethics and nurse managers as a context. Background Managerial ethics as a new approach has emerged in the perspective and by prioritizing ethics in the organization has provided the basis for creating and promoting individual and organizational effectiveness. Managers’ and staff’s adherence to professional ethics helps hospitals to achieve their (...) intended goals. Aim The present study aimed to explain nurse managers’ experience of managerial ethics. Research design This qualitative study was conducted based on a phenomenological design in 2022. Participants and research context The participants included 20 nurse managers working in hospitals in Arak, Iran. They were selected by the purposive sampling method which continued until data saturation. Data were collected through semi-structured individual interviews (30–90 min); subsequently, the obtained results were analyzed using the Van Manen six-step approach. Ethical considerations The confidentiality and the right of participants to take part or withdraw from the study were observed during this research. Results The results of the present study were able to demonstrate nurse managers’ lived experience of managerial ethics in the form of five themes of professional ethics, people-oriented management, professional empowerment, excellencism, and patient-centered care. Conclusions As evidenced by the obtained results, nurse managers held a positive view of managerial ethics. They were striving to strongly adhere to ethical principles in nursing management since they contribute greatly to the improved quality of nursing services in care and health settings. Therefore, appropriate policy-making and planning for managerial ethics training are indispensable for all nurses and nursing students. (shrink)

The present study was carried out to explore Iranian nurses’ use of placebos in clinical practice and their knowledge and attitude towards its use. A cross-sectional, descriptive study was conducted using self-report questionnaires. All nurses working in a university hospital in Arak (n = 342) were invited to participate in the study. Among 295 respondents, 221 (75%) reported that they had used at least one placebo within the past year and 179 (81%) told patients they were receiving actual medication. (...) The most common reason and symptom for placebo use were after unjustified demand for medication and pain, respectively. Only 60 (20.33%) of the nurses believed that placebos should never be used. Results showed that most nurses in our study had used placebos and probably will continue to use them. Placebo use is viewed as ethically permissible among nurses. Some patients benefit from the placebos, but their use raises ethical questions. The role of placebo treatment, its mechanisms, and its ethics issues should be taught to nurses. (shrink)

Friedrich Nietzsche 19. yüzyıl felsefesinde tüm ahlaki ve dinsel inançlara savaş açarak yeni değerler arayan bir filozoftur. Bu eğilimini “Böyle Buyurdu Zerdüşt” isimli eserinde Zerdüşt karakterine yükleyen Nietzsche, Zerdüşt aracılığıyla bütün dinsel inançların çöktüğünü ve geleneksel ahlaki değerlerin yıkıldığını haber verip, insanları bağlı oldukları inançlardan kurtarmaya çalışan bir yeryüzü peygamberi portresi çizmiştir. Nietzsche’nin değerlerin altüst edilişinin simgesi ve sözcüsü olan Zerdüşt günümüz dinlerinin peygamberinden oldukça farklı bir yol çizmektedir. Nietzsche Zerdüşt üzerinden sadece değerlerin ters yüz edilmesini ve yıkılmasını savunmakla kalmaz (...) aynı zamanda bu yıkımın üzerine yeni bir değer sistemi oluşturmaktan da söz etmektedir. Fakat hitap ettiği kitle henüz buna hazır değildir. Bunun için insanın üstinsan mertebesine geçmesi gerekecektir. Bu çalışmadaki amacımız Nietzsche’nin üstinsan tasavvuru ile güç istemi ilişkisini “Böyle Buyurdu Zerdüşt” özelinde tartışmaktır. Ancak çalışmanın hacmi dar olacağından hedefimiz öncellikle güç istemi ekseninde yoğunlaşarak bu istem üzerindeki kutsallığı analiz etmek olacaktır. (shrink)
