Abstract

Comparing Hume and Hegel on the subject of human nature at first strikes one as odd, since by now we accept that they come from totally different philosophical worlds. But in time they were not very far apart, and both discussed many of the same issues. Between Hume and Hegel in time are a series of thinkers struggling to make sense out of the human situation, once the Enlightenment had eroded confidence in previous religious explanations of it.
