Invertendo A Hierarquia
Abstract
Na hierarquia das faculdades cognoscitivas segundo Tomás de Aquino, os sentidos ocupam o lugar menos elevado e, entre estes, o gosto e o tato. Do mesmo modo, no que se refere aos atos humanos, as paixões que são comuns aos humanos e aos outros animais situam-se em nível abaixo dos atos da razão e da vontade. Ora, Tomás de Aquino recorre a um vocabulário dos sentidos e paixões para expressar a forma acabada de conhecimento. Pretende-se refletir sobre este uso da linguagem.In Thomas Aquinas' hierarchy of cognitive faculties the senses, and in particular taste and touch, belong to a lower level. Accordingly, when taken in reference to human acts, the passions that are common to both humans and other animals are below the acts of reason and will. Nevertheless, Thomas Aquinas makes use of a vocabulary drawn from the senses and from the passions to express the accomplished form of knowledge. We intend to reflect upon this use of language
