Abstract
By virtue of the « linguistic turn », contemporary thinkers appear as anticartesian. Here, going beyond metaphysics is meant starting from the radical Heideggerian criticism of Cartesian modernity as the utmost of the « omission of the being ». It should be distinguished, in this phrase, a positive meaning (omission of the alèthéia) and an only negative meaning (incompleteness of the definition of substance). Based on this distinction and on the contradiction between the primacy of the cotigo (as « the ultimate foundation of reason ») and its illusion of substantiality, a non metaphysical modernity could be conceived, a modernity which would pass from the indubitability of the cogito to the irrefutability by itself of the « cogitas », which is the limit of the right of the sceptic
