Abstract

In this bold and original book, Martin Kusch develops what he calls a communitarian epistemology, modeled after communitarian theories in ethics and political philosophy. According to Kusch, an epistemology qualifies as communitarian if it includes at least the following two theses: first knowledge, like being married or being money, is a social status that is imposed by members of a community. Second, “…the social status ‘knowledge’ is typically granted to, or imposed on, groups of people”.
