Abstract

In this paper, Prof. Hong Handing, the Chinese translator of Truth and Method, recalls his motivation, the background, and the process of translating this Gadamerian masterpiece. Through this recollection, we can see the profound influence that Gadamer and his hermeneutical thought had on Chinese scholars. At the same time, this paper also discusses the theoretical issues related to the exegesis and translation of the classics.
