Abstract
This is a collection of essays all of which have been previously published in Europe. The author was a research assistant to Husserl for a number of years, and consequently comments upon the phenomenological movement with considerable authority. More recently he has served as a Professor of Philosophy at the University of Cologne. He has been closely associated with the Husserl Archives at both Cologne and Louvain, and has served as editor of some of Husserl's posthumous publications. He has also taught and lectured in the United States, where he has become increasingly known since the publication of his Major Problems In Contemporary European Philosophy, as well as a number of very useful articles.
