Abstract

Three thesis of Zubiri in relation to the connection between stimulus and reality are explained. These theses are, first, existence of the fact of the apprehension of stimulating reality or real stimulus in humans. Second, reality and stimulus, considered as formalities ofman and of other animals respectively, are essentially irreducible. Third and finally, appealto the formality of stimulation to explain the formality of reality is not a necessary procedure but a very useful one, since it better clarifies the description of reality. These threetheses taken separately generate a series of problems. Above all, the first thesis and secondseem contradictory. Also, it is unclear how the third thesis can be useful if the second istrue. To clarify these theses and the problems they generate, we base ourselves on SentientIntelligence. In this work, Zubiri creates the concepts of stimulus and stimulation to helpclarify the foregoing theses. Here we re-elaborate these three theses starting from what ismost radical in them, i.e., the fact of the apprehension of stimulating reality in humans. Inthis way Zubiri’s theses are clarified. Lastly, some problems that follow from these considerations are outlined.Se intenta explicar tres tesis de Zubiri en relación a la conexión entre estímulo y realidad.Estas tesis son, primero, la existencia del hecho de la aprehensión de la realidad estimulante o estímulo real en el hombre. Segundo, realidad y estímulo, considerados como formalidades del hombre y del resto de los animales respectivamente, son esencialmente irreductibles. Tercero y finalmente, la apelación a la formalidad de estimulidad para explicar laformalidad de realidad, no es un procedimiento necesario pero sí es muy útil, por cuanto“aclara” mejor la descripción de la realidad. Estas tres tesis tomadas aisladamente generanuna serie de problemas. Ante todo, la tesis primera y segunda parecen contradictorias.Además, no se ve claramente como la tercera tesis pueda ser “útil” si es verdadera la segunda. Para aclarar estas tesis y los problemas que ellas generan, nos basaremos en Inteligencia sentiente. En esta obra, Zubiri crea los conceptos de estímulo y estimulidad queayudan a clarificar las tesis expuestas. Aquí se intenta rehacer la elaboración de estas trestesis a partir de la más radical de ellas, a saber, del hecho de la aprehensión de realidadestimulante en el hombre. Desde aquí se iluminan mejor las tesis de Zubiri. Por último, sedejan planteados algunos problemas que se siguen de todas estas consideraciones
