Left/right, up/down: The role of endogenous electrical fields as directional signals in development, repair and invasion.Kenneth R. Robinson & Mark A. Messerli - 2003 - Bioessays 25 (8):759-766.
A fundamental aspect of biological systems is their spatial organization. In development, regeneration and repair, directional signals are necessary for the proper placement of the components of the organism. Likewise, pathogens that invade other organisms rely on directional signals to target vulnerable areas. It is widely understood that chemical gradients are important directional signals in living systems. Less well recognized are electrical fields, which can also provide directional information. Small, steady electrical fields can directly guide cell movement and growth and (...)

Nursing students doing gender: Implications for higher education and the nursing profession.Lesley Andrew, Ken Robinson, Julie Dare & Leesa Costello - 2023 - Nursing Inquiry 30 (1):e12516.
The average age of women nursing students in Australia is rising. With this comes the likelihood that more now begin university with family responsibilities, and with their lives structured by the roles of mother and partner. Women with more traditionally gendered ideas of these roles, such as nurturing others and self‐sacrifice, are known to be attracted to nursing as a profession; once at university, however, these students can be vulnerable to gender role stress from the competing demands of study. A (...)

The ins and outs of listening as a psychoanalyst.Ken Robinson - 2015 - Empedocles: European Journal for the Philosophy of Communication 6 (2):169-184.
In this article I shall give a brief account of psychoanalytic listening. I shall then consider the ontology of such listening to a session and compare it to the ontology of attending to paintings and poems. Psychoanalysts are interested not merely in what is understood through listening but in the process of listening. I shall proceed to ask how possible it is to represent that process. Finally, I raise some questions about how the capacity to listen psychoanalytically might be taught (...)
