The Political and Learning Characteristics of Han Commentary Studies

Abstract

In the Han Dynasty, Chapters study the dual properties of both political and academic. As a political activity, Chapters and the emergence of science accompanied the rise of Confucianism, and received strong government support of the Han dynasty, Chapters learning is the main content of the Confucian classics, by the teacher and principal author is Dr.; as academic activities, Chapters learning includes both text Exegesis, including argumentation explained by a strong moral principles to explain the breed of academic factionalism. Han Chapters are also several changes in style. In the prosperous period, the Chapters of the interpretation of some very bloated moral principles; to a later stage, Chapters gradually reverted to the minimalist style. Chapters style changes with Text School to the changes in classical classics. The Han Commentary Studies had political and learning characteristics. As one of the political activities, the Han Commentary Studies supported heavily by Han government appeared with the rising of Confucianism and its main contents were the classics of Confucianism while the main authors were the classics teachers and Boshi. As one of the academic activities, the Han Commentary Studies comprised exegesis of meaning of words and explanations of the most essential principles. Moreover, its style also changed several times, that with in details explanations of essential principles in its thriving period but simplified commentary at the last period, which was related to the diversion from modern literature classical learning to ancient literature classical learning
